Digital detox or media asceticism is important as technological awareness of restoring brain functions and the opportunity to reveal one’s intellectual potential. Recently, many different manifestations of addiction to the digital environment have appeared: phubbing is the habit of being distracted by one’s gadget while communicating with an interlocutor , nomophobia - fear of being separated from your phone, missed profit syndrome - fear of disconnecting from the information flow and missing out on something vital. And this is confirmation of the dangerous influence of the digital environment on our mental state and mental activity. How is media asceticism useful? There are many benefits from temporarily refusing to contact the digital environment: normalization of diet and sleep, restoration of contact with oneself, awareness of one’s desires, one’s body, your emotions and feelings. This is the reduction of anxiety and fatigue, the prevention of stress and professional burnout, the development of skills for maintaining social contacts offline and concentration. How often is a digital detox needed? People who care about their mental health annually attend various kinds of retreats with abstinence from smartphones for the entire period participation. However, the problem cannot be solved by one-time measures. You can’t just go on vacation once a year and never go on vacation again. Or sleep a month ahead. It’s the same with the digital environment – detox should be daily. And this will not work without creating new everyday habits, for example, an evening with the family without digital devices, instead of the old one - not parting with the gadget. And here it is important to formulate your own goals and objectives, as well as support adherence to them. Why do you need this? So what? How do my clients’ requests for psychotherapy sound now? Very emotional: “Help! Make sure that I don’t get sick, stormy, rocked!..”And a lot more “don’ts”...And not surprising: the whole mass media machine, instant messengers, devices, the rhythm of city life, multitasking, communications with other anxious people people and many other things seem to be shrinking around modern man. What can you do right now? I suggest you switch to quality contact with your body. And start with a short walk into your body🤗 Are you ready? Let’s go there through breathing☝Find a safe place for yourself where you can be alone with yourself for 5 minutes. Right now, straighten your back, put both hands on your stomach and start breathing, trying to while inhaling, push your stomach forward as much as possible, like a balloon (concerns about how it looks can be conveniently placed in a beautiful box - no one sees you, and you can close your eyes) Often, on the contrary, we draw in our stomach while inhaling, this is not necessary to do now. Try to make your stomach raise your arms forward as you inhale, inhale as slowly and deeply as possible, and exhale as well, lengthening the exhalation if possible. And watch what happens to your body. What does, for example, the little toe of the left foot, or the right hand feel? Walk with your inner gaze over the body from the top of your head to your heels, from the tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. Do this practice for 3 minutes with your eyes wide closed, turning off the sound of all gadgets. Once the body scan is completed, you can open your eyes and write down what has changed in your sensations, what thoughts have arisen after a mini-walk into your body. Perhaps , you will find that you feel a little calmer after consciously breathing and connecting with your body. Or maybe this walk into the body will give you inspiration to form new habits of life outside the digital space. I would also like to share with you the poem “When the Internet was gone...” When the Internet was gone, We left our homes, How we admired dawn, And the echo of footsteps in the darkness. We realized that the world is beautiful, And we live in it incorrectly, It’s not entirely clear to us yet, But we will understand over time. We touched each other with our hands, With a desire to be closer, We admired the clouds, They even tried to talk. And.
