I wonder what the strength of Gestalt therapy is and how it can help a client? This is the question I asked myself at the beginning of my psychological practice. Only through experience did I discover topics that can be understood quickly and efficiently: Contact with yourself and with others To eat an apple, you first need to bite into it. To use a metaphor, many people don’t even realize that they want to eat an apple, they don’t even strive for it. In the process of therapy, clients learn to trust their feelings, to be in contact with themselves and other people. Deep emotions. They contain enormous power, both destruction and creation. Deep joy, sadness or anger - these emotions add color to life, and living them makes us feel real. When working with deep emotions, clients often recall childhood traumatic experiences. This could be psychological violence or punishment. Unfortunately, parents, without malicious intent, can cause psychological harm to a child. You often have to deal with the consequences of such situations in adulthood. Boundaries This is the space into which the client may or may not allow other people to enter. If a person has a poor sense of his boundaries, then it is difficult for him to refuse others, to say “no,” or he may psychologically merge with another person, completely losing his reality, and not understand what he himself wants. Unfinished business... ...is a weight on your shoulders. This is, as a rule, an outdated situation that has little to do with the present. A situation that drags into the past. Very often, such situations are previous relationships, or a breakup that has not yet truly occurred. After accepting the breakup and living through it, the client seems to get a new chance to build harmonious relationships. I like what I like about Gestalt psychology is that the client can realize himself differently, to understand what causes him pain or discomfort and change it using his creative potential. Already in the process of my psychological practice, I entered the Institute of Gestalt Psychology. This was a real discovery of my capabilities as a psychologist and psychotherapist. Now I can help a client resolve his issue more quickly and efficiently. Are the topics that Gestalt psychology works with effectively relevant to you??
