Traffic lightThe starting point for writing this article was one observation. There is a pedestrian crossing not far from my house. The crossing is equipped with a traffic light. To turn on the green light, you need to press a button. So far everything is simple, right? The observation is that in almost half of the cases people patiently wait for the green light, completely ignoring the button. That is, they just stand and wait. And nothing happens... I thought this was a wonderful metaphor for what many of us do in life. Goals that we don't go to. No matter who you ask, everyone has goals that people seem to strive for. Mentally. “Mentally” because these goals are in no way tied to reality through actions. A person often doesn’t do a damn thing at all that can bring him closer to what he wants. At the same time, continuing to hope for the implementation of our plans. The remnants of childhood magical thinking are clearly visible: “In order for it to happen, you just need to want.” Moreover, transurfing has spoiled people’s minds, giving rise to the delusional idea that if you wish well and correctly, then everything will come true by itself. And here are the figurines! It won't come true. You'll have to do it with your hands (legs, tongue, brains...) In general, a logical question arises. What are you doing now that brings you closer to what you want? This, this and this? No? How then do you plan to get what you want? The other question is how much do you REALLY want what you think you want? (Not an easy phrase, yes). But I won’t dwell on this now. Therefore, let’s assume that what you want is really desired. How not to get from point A to point VI, in order to get from point A to point B, you need to do something. It seems clear as two and two. Then explain to me the behavior of people from the traffic light example described above. We have to admit that childish-magical thinking is a much more common phenomenon than we used to think. I think that if your daily actions lead you towards your conscious goals, you are an adult. If in a completely different direction...Where are you going? I often ask my patients where they are going, if judged only by their actions. Without taking into account the inner kitchen (thoughts, intentions, desires, etc.). Some people are surprised to discover for the first time that their actions (or inaction) do not lead to what they consciously want. In TA this is called scenario resolution. As far as I remember, there are few typical scenario endings - poverty, exhaustion, loneliness. So where are you going? What do YOUR actions lead to??
