On the Internet, you can now find, it seems, everything on the topic of psychology. There is a lot of psychological literature. There are enough videos on YouTube from which you can learn how to communicate correctly, respond to insults, show empathy, and so on. There are many wonderful books that help you understand what depression, panic attacks, anxiety are, and what ways to deal with it. On the Internet you can get complete instructions, for example, for the following queries: “how to behave in stressful situations”, “how to behave with people in different emotional states”, “how to learn to distinguish your emotions”, etc. There is a lot of information about how to influence people’s consciousness, manage attention, how to sell, how to increase one’s own efficiency, overcome addiction, develop new habits... Lots of meditations, affirmations for every taste and color - and it all works, all this is not useless information. All this can really be learned. Nowadays everyone can become psychologically pumped up, without embellishment, and this is very cool. It's really great that we have this opportunity. Of course, it’s a little unfortunate that most people use this huge knowledge base not in order, say, to learn to listen and understand the interlocutor, and not in order to learn how to communicate and support, but in order to benefit from other people, manipulate, control. But let’s not talk about that now. You can really become a very psychologically improved person, and that’s wonderful. But you probably have the following, logical question: “Why then, in this case, if I can learn everything from the Internet, do I even need a psychologist?” Well, really, why go to a psychologist if I can, after reading a couple of books, overcome your anxiety? Now I’ll tell you about this. As you know, “a person needs a person” in order to gain a fundamentally new experience of interaction, communication and self-disclosure, as well as in order to “digest” this experience more qualitatively, not only by reviewing it through the prism of one’s perception, but also expanding the latter. The fact is that, being alone with himself, a person remains hostage to his perception. And when we encounter something that is incomprehensible to us (in ourselves, in others, in the world), we strive with all our might to explain it to ourselves, to make it understandable to ourselves. This is how our brain works, everything must be clear to it, otherwise it goes out of balance. And when you, after reading a book or watching a video, try to figure out, for example, the reasons for your anxiety, you will try to explain to yourself everything that is happening to you, starting from precisely from your picture of the world. How to understand this? Each person has a certain model of perception that has developed over the years. Within its framework, there is a certain logic for constructing thinking patterns. Simply put, a way of thinking. Going beyond this model on your own is extremely difficult (impossible). You can somehow explain a lot to yourself, and even work with yourself by reading literature and doing practices. But what will really be very difficult to do on your own is to change the way of thinking that gives rise to problematic situations again and again. A psychologist will help expand the picture of the world, change the angles of perception, break the patterns that exist unconsciously and that are created in our heads that unpleasant reality with which we are dealing. Moreover, a good psychologist will never forcibly intervene and try to change something in your system. If you want to sincerely help a person and convey to him some new knowledge, you need to talk to him through his system of meanings. Be careful and don’t get into someone else’s head with your set of concepts. Because during the course of life, everyone acquires his own experience and his own understanding of this world. You can visually imagine this as a certain sphere around a person from the words that he understands. More precisely, from the meanings that are glued to these?
