From the author: Interview for the online newspaper "Capital Fair" 12/13/2011 Psychologist-consultant and trainer Anita Anyutina talks about the group programs of the center for social adaptation "Satori-Vozrozhdenie" There are more and more people who turn to a psychologist not only when they are “on the edge.” The cliche “I’m not crazy, why do I need a psychologist” is becoming a thing of the past. - Yes you are right. A practicing psychologist (as opposed to a psychiatrist) works with mentally healthy people. And there are more and more socially and financially successful people who want to improve the quality of their lives, feeling that they are capable of more. People have become interested not only in individual work with a psychologist, but also come to family consultations to improve family relationships. Methods of group work are actively developing. – Yes, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about today. On the one hand, there is a choice, and on the other hand, there is such an abundance of different offers that it is easy to get confused. – I agree with you, it is difficult for an ordinary person to navigate today’s variety of techniques and methods. – Anita, your center conducts trainings, workshops, psychotherapeutic groups. Please tell us what each of these methods is? – With pleasure. Let's start with the training. The word “training” comes from the English training – “to train”. During the training, a person can, based on the knowledge gained, acquire and test new skills in a comfortable learning environment, and then use them in life. You shouldn’t expect any serious long-term changes in your life during the training, but this method is effective and well suited for narrow local tasks. For example, training on learning relaxation techniques, or sales training, which is aimed at learning how to communicate with a client. – What is a workshop? How is it different from training? – This is a deeper type of work. At the workshop, the exercises are not aimed at learning skills, but at taking a step towards understanding what prevents us from using our knowledge in our lives. Through interesting interaction exercises and various role-playing and psychodramatic games, each participant in the training gets to know their real selves a little closer. Everyone has the opportunity to understand more about their roles, masks, defenses and their expectations from others, as well as learn to express their true feelings. Participants receive feedback from others and learn to give it themselves and much more. – And finally, group psychotherapy – what is it? – Group psychotherapy is similar in form to training, and in content to individual work with a psychologist. This is a specially created group of people from 6 to 12 people who meet regularly for quite a long time (from a year or more) under the guidance of a psychologist or psychotherapist. As a result, this is a powerful method of psychological assistance that is impressive in terms of the depth of the problems it solves. Of course, like any internal changes, this process is long, but the result is stable and long-lasting. – What opportunities does such a group provide? – The group provides the opportunity to survive crisis situations in relations with the participants and leaders of the group, explore one’s own personality, realize and overcome internal problems , achieve greater efficiency in understanding oneself and in relationships with other people. Working through personal issues related to issues of universal human existence - life and death, freedom and responsibility, intimacy and loneliness, meaning and meaninglessness - confronting which alone is usually frightening.
