How to maintain mental health if we spend a significant part of our time at work? I will share with you a working tool and a checklist. You will need a little time for analysis, but the results will save you strength, energy and a good mood. Peter Warr, in the process of large-scale research, created an ASSESSMENT MODEL for occupational stress. Known as the “vitamin model”. It is universal for any activity. Why vitamin? P. Warr compares these factors by analogy with the effects of vitamins on human health. A deficiency (1-3) is bad, and an excess (factors 4-9) is bad. It causes toxic harm to the body. And in our case, harm to mental health. So, we answer ourselves honestly on all points: 1⃣ Availability of money Is your salary sufficient for you? How does it compare with your standard of living? Is it possible to save? Physical safetyIs your work safe? Does it cause harm to your physical health? Drafts? 12 hours on your feet? Temperature conditions? High safety precautions at work? Etc. 3⃣ Prestige of social status Do you feel your value and importance in the company? How do you feel about your position? 4⃣ Goals that are determined from the outside If you do not work for yourself, then management sets goals and objectives for you. Do you share these goals? Do you consider them achievable and timely? Do you have several managers at once and everyone has their own goals and objectives for you? How do they relate to your personal goals? 5 ⃣ Variety of operating conditions This can include high multitasking and distractions ( Is it possible to concentrate?) 6⃣ Clarity and clarity How predictable is the work environment? How clear and understandable are the tasks that are assigned to you? How clear (and defined) are your functions in the workplace? What are your powers? Does your manager give you constructive feedback? 7⃣ Control Do you have the ability to control the present? Make decisions in your activities? 8⃣ Interpersonal contacts What kind of team do you have? How comfortable are you to work? Do you often have conflicts with colleagues? Behind-the-scenes games?9⃣ Using and developing skills and knowledgeDo you use your knowledge and skills in the workplace?Does the company offer training that is relevant to you?Is there an opportunity for development?Your job has passed the stress test?
