From the author: Training company "Partner" Breastfeeding has recently become popular. And thank God! In Minsk, from time to time even flash mobs get tired - many mothers gather in one place and at the same time begin to feed their children. But apparently not everything is so simple and not everything is so unambiguous. After all, statistical data and conclusions similar to those given below come from somewhere. They clearly contain those who breastfeed for up to three years are not taken into account. It's a pity. In Belarus, 28% of children under 1 year of age and about 12% of children under 2 years of age were continuously breastfed. Such data are contained in the preliminary report of a multi-indicator cluster survey to assess the situation of children and women, which is posted on the website of the National Statistical Committee, BELTA reports. According to the survey results, 32% of children under the age of 1 month were exclusively breastfed, at the age of 2-3 months - 24% of children, aged 4-5 months - only 4% of children. In addition, among children aged 2-3 months, 19% were breastfed combined with water, breastfed combined with other milk or milk formula - 23%; among children aged 4-5 months - 8% and 21%, respectively. More than half (58%) of children aged 6-8 months received breast milk, as well as solid, semi-solid or soft foods. A very interesting term comes up - combined breastfeeding. Neither the authors of statistics nor the authors of articles seem to be aware that pedagogical complementary feeding is usually introduced from 6 months of age. We would consult with breastfeeding consultants - we would learn a lot of new and useful things. They are responsible for the reliability of statistics: The Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey to assess the situation of children and women (MICS4) was conducted in 2012 by the National Statistics Committee. Financial, methodological and technical support was provided by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). It is stated that: The purpose of MICS4 in Belarus is to obtain objective information in the field of maternal and child health, child development and upbringing. This kind of survey was carried out in the republic for the second time and made it possible to obtain information concerning important aspects of children’s lives: their nutritional status, health, the prevalence of child labor, the main methods of raising a child in the family and various types of activities that contribute to the education of children at an early age. Also, as part of the MICS4 survey, for the first time, indicators characterizing the reproductive behavior of women, the attitude of women and men to domestic violence, the sexual behavior of young people, life satisfaction of young people and other issues relevant to the Republic of Belarus were studied.
