timeless1 (126hp) Quote: Originally posted by Bimmernerd As you saw in my previous article, the solution to my problem with incorrect cover art and/or track/artist name is NOT a USB cable for iPhone... Yes , sorry Bimmernerd, I was specifically referring to Dandle's post then... I remember when I ordered my MY2012 car (in October) there were a lot of iPhone/iPod connectivity requirements that needed to be added to make everything work properly. The dealer ultimately fixed everything without any further intervention on my part, so I don't remember the part numbers, but the order referred to media connectivity. I'm wondering if there is a missing part in your build that a dealer could help you with.?

28051990 (800hp) I just took delivery of a 2012 520d SE with the standard audio/idrive gadget. I was hoping/thinking that my iPod artwork would show up on the monitor, but I can't. Does anyone know if this is supported?

icebox1 (268hp) Works on my 550i - using the iPod connector. How do you connect?

290380 (644hp) If you don't use an iPod, you may need to embed the jpeg into your mp3 files. Google mp3tag is free software to help you.

fresh22 (59hp) Also works great on my 2012. I connect a 5th gen IPod via USB cable to the armrest USB connector.

luis22 (383hp) I noticed that sometimes it can take a few seconds after the songs start playing for the cover art to appear, and also most of the time the image is very low resolution instead of the sharp image you see in the promotional images put. by BMW. I will post photos but I am traveling, I will do it when I return. If you already have optional iPod integration for your vehicle, you will need to check the music file itself and confirm if the cover art is part of the file information. If the cover art appears on your iPod, it should also appear on the car screen..

auburn1 (434hp) I have version 520d from January 2012 with prof media (but not the Internet option). I connect my iPhone 4 using the standard white Apple USB cable via the connector in the armrest and it works fine. Every time there is a track change, it returns to a "track detail" view for a few seconds before showing the cover art again. I find that where iTunes had found the cover of the CDs I had ripped, the image is perfectly clear. When I've copied and pasted cover images into iTunes from other sources (because iTunes couldn't find the cover art), these can be tricky depending on the quality of the source. I couldn't tell this before on my old iPod Touch, but you can on the iPhone's Retina display. 4!

Gramac (223hp) And my problem is that the iDrive screen occasionally shows the wrong cover art, when you change tracks the cover art doesn't change...anyone else have this problem? I'm using an iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) connected via USB, F11 built November 2011... quite boring

I'll be upgrading from iPhone 4 to Samsung Galaxy S3 soon, maybe it will work better. I discovered a few weeks ago that not only was the wrong cover art displayed, but also occasionally the wrong track/artist name... pretty amazing how poorly this is implemented on a 60 car 000 EUR.

07071981 (613hp) It's true, I found the solution to my problems. It was the BMW Y cable that won't show the iPod cover. If I use the original Apple iPod cable with only a USB port, it plays the songs and displays the cover art..

hottie00 (438hp) I had a little upward movement and a click under my right thigh as I accelerated slightly. Made me crazy. Could hear and feel. Click, click, click. After some prodding, they replaced the seat rails. This happened after about 20,000 miles in my 335i. Sometimes a small item like this can ruin the experience. Paul

pheobe1 (619hp) It sometimes does this on my F10, but it doesn't happen enough to bother me. These things bother me, but this one isn't as bad as my previous car.

pueblo (995hp) I noticed that a lot of the clicks were coming from my sun visor. The vinyl obviously sticks to the assembly components and makes noise when driving and vibrating. Usually I turn it down and work it a bit and the noise goes away for a few days. Obviously this has nothing to do with the seat, but I thought it might give you another way to check for clicking noises..

I finally had the store manager come out for a test drive, and he sat in the back and heard the problem. I suspect a loose or broken plastic clip inside somewhere. I also had a click. It turned out that my sunglasses were sliding into the small driver's side glove box..

allmine2 (471hp) I also have this on corners...it usually happens once or twice at the start of a ride and then stops...you can actually feel it in the bottom of the seat, like something at the the interior of the seat was moving..

OK, I'm glad I searched and found this thread. I have the exact same problem as above. Only recently has this started happening (let's say within the last month). When I drive away from my house on our side street, about 100 yards, I have to turn right at the stop sign. The first right turn in the morning does that. I feel like if one of the bolts holding the seat was a little loose and the seat was moving/clicking just a tiny bit (like a loose bolt would). I sometimes noticed it in the evening on my way from work to home. moreover, and it's still only in the first blocks of driving that this can happen (and only once.) I checked and nothing in the rear seat pocket, nothing under the seat that could move and hit the seat, non-clicking seat belt, etc. Did anyone above resolve the issue??

444455 (286hp) Hey guys, earlier this year BMW announced M Performance Parts, which included some goodies for the F10. See http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=649528. Some of these parts are now available, such as the new shift knob, exhaust for 535i and wheels. However, I can't find the new carbon fiber steering wheel and interior trim from online suppliers. Does anyone know when we will be able to purchase these other parts? I'm specifically interested in the US, but any news or success stories from our friends in Europe would also be interesting to hear..

Cameron1 (269hp) This is a must-buy! I hope they have a part number soon or a local supplier offers it.

Number1 (330hp) so i found a rock chip and the next thing you know i swiped it with my finger and the paint came off the hood probably the size of a fingernail...is it just me or is the F10 metallic color cheap...and will be touch up paint from dealer, cover it?

21121995 (631hp) I mentioned in a previous article that the BMW paint seems to be much more durable than the paint on my previous Lexus. It is possible that you have just found a fault in the paint application (exposed by the rock).

30041993 (282hp) Friends, I've decided to go big or go home, and instead of the 528i I was planning to buy, I'm going to go with the 535i. The price increase is only $3,000 if I don't get the 535i's Premium package (which costs $1,500). I can afford that. Unlike the 528i, the 535i already comes with leather, so the Premium package is less essential. The 535i Premium Package includes (1) Comfort Access System, (2) Power Liftgate, and (3) Sirius Radio. (1) I actually don't want the convenience access system because I really like locking and unlocking the car from a remote control. Maybe it's an OCD problem. Overall I'm close to the car so it locking/unlocking makes me uncomfortable. Stupid question: without the convenience access system, I still don't need to use a key to start the engine, right? Can I keep the keys in my pocket (apart from unlocking/locking the car) and press the engine start button? (2)The power tailgate would be nice, but not enough to justify the $1,500 Premium package. (3) I don't like Sirius satellite radio. I've had it for years and plan to cancel it. I plan to use Pandora exclusively on my iPhone, via iDrive, for my music needs. Question: Did I miss something? Is there another secret feature that I won't get by not getting the Premium package? I know it's weird to get a Series 5 without the Premium plan, but I just can't justify the price of the plan for these particular features, given my particular needs/wants. Thank you for your contribution!

andrea05 (452hp) I think everything will be fine, from what you say. Sirius is spindly and weak, so no loss there. Comfort Access is cool IF you like that sort of thing. My understanding is that regardless of the package you can still start the car without inserting the key (based on the F10 and F30 I drove without AC). The power tailgate is another semi-cool feature, but I found myself impatient with mine on several occasions because it moves so slowly. You'll probably also miss out on power-folding mirrors, but again - if that's not important to you, it's not a big loss at all. The important part is that you'll be immensely happier with the N55 than the N20 (I've flown optimized versions of both). The N20 really isn't a bad engine at all - but you can see that it has limitations. I guess 550 guys would say the same thing about the 535. Lots of progress has been made with bigger and better tunes for the N55, so it's only a matter of time before we really see what this engine is all about is capable..

rosalba (801hp) Go ahead, in three years if you decide to sell or trade, the monetary value of the options will be close to zero anyway, all that will matter is the mileage and engine displacement. Comfort access is nice though, it only opens if you are very close to the door and only if you insert your palm behind the handle. Still to lock the car you have to press the button unless you can program it to lock it automatically.

Do you think that without the Premium package I won't have the power folding mirrors? I can't find any documentation on how power folding mirrors are added in cars. Also, I would like to make sure I can start the car without inserting the key without AC.

dalmata (253hp) You can start the car without inserting the key - this is a standard option

JKSH (796hp) it only changes your payment by about $27-30, I'd say, go for it. The power tailgate is extremely convenient and I use it daily and the power folding mirrors are a must in my book. But no matter what, you can still start the car without inserting a key because there is no place to insert it. You can also manually lock and unlock the car to satisfy your OCD..

shraddha (397hp) So, I still don't know if the 535i, without AC, will have the power folding mirrors or not. I can't find any documentation on this. And according to the ordering guide, the Premium Package doesn't mention that it comes with the power-folding mirrors, which makes me think it's a standard model. Anyone? I can live without CA and Sirius. The power tailgate looks nice, but unnecessary. But I might be upset if I didn't have power folding mirrors (or whatever other secret option you tell me I'm missing without the Premium package)...)

mamka (905hp) According to Edmunds, the Premium Package includes: Power trunk lid opening and closing, Universal garage door opener, Park distance control sensors in the front and rear bumpers that trigger a series of audible beeps by the occupants of the vehicle. The beep becomes progressively faster in correlation with one of the bumpers approaching nearby obstacles, the Comfort Access remote, which allows the user to unlock/lock and enter the car and exit start/stop the engine without using the key or remote control, provided that because the user is near the car and is in possession of the remote control. Power folding mirrors are not on the list.

It's for 2012, and it's completely different for 2013.

sound1 (146hp) Body-colored, heated, power-folding exterior mirrors are standard equipment on all 5 Series models. The 2013 535i Premium package includes only the power tailgate, Comfort Access and Sirius radio. For me, Premium is worth it, both for the electric tailgate and for the comfort access. Even with AC, I still touch the door edges of my car every time I walk away to both ensure the vehicle is locked and to simultaneously fold down the mirrors (which I have coded so that the car does it). It's just very convenient to never have to use the Fob. However, if I had a very limited amount to spend on options, I would forgo the $1,500 Premium package and instead get the PDC sensors for $750 and the rearview camera for $400, and if the quality music sound means something to you, the premium hi-fi system is worth the extra $875. These three can be had for $2,025, or $1,625 without the rearview camera, and are worth more to me than the power liftgate, Comfort Access, and Sirius radio combined for $1500.

However, standard equipment is also this, that is, electrically folding mirrors are included: interior mirror and auto-dimming exterior mirrors. In 2011, however, you had to order the ZPP (Premium 1) package. to get auto-dimming mirrors: 430 Auto-dimming mirrors • Reduce headlight glare on all of the following vehicles and include a power folding feature. So the power folding mirrors are actually part of the SA430 auto-dimming mirrors, which were an option in 2011, and which now appear to be standard equipment from 2012..

tooshort (371hp) I would upgrade to the 535 for sure, anything above the base model is really nice to have in my opinion and I have had folding mirrors on most of my cars and never used this feature... Except by accident! Another thought for you if you really want the premium package is to step up your negotiations... It's the end of the month and the absolute end of the model year. Charging less the 3500 incentive is the starting point and go from there.!

johnny08 (265hp) I just want to know. Is the Foldinh rearview mirror part of the optional equipment in the state? Well in my country it's a norm and I thought it applied to other places too..

sonorc (669hp) Doesn't that also come with the kick to open a deal on the tailgate? This feature alone is worth something if you're carrying a bunch of junk in the car and need to open the trunk. It also adds a world of features for coding (e.g. trunk closing from FOB, folding mirrors, etc.) if you like that sort of thing. I'd be fine, but I'm one of those people who doesn't mind a car payment increase. FWIW DLM

privet123 (484hp) So I talked to my dealer and my rep told me that: (1) power folding mirrors, (2) universal garage door opener, and (3) keyless engine start/stop all will be standard on my 2013 535i, WITHOUT the premium package. Does everyone here agree on the accuracy of this statement? Since buying the car, I really don't want to spend $1500 on CA (when I'll use the key fob anyway), Sirius which I won't use, and a slow power liftgate. These are my thoughts. I will benefit from the Technology Pack and the Driving Assistance Pack - the ones I need.

rot (883hp) Maybe a 335i could be a compromise. Unless space is an issue in the trunk and up front, a loaded 335i sits near the base of the 535i. I admit, however, that the design of the Series 5 is so different that it may end up being apples and oranges. Is 27.00 per month a huge variation on a payment. Why not just trade down? and get it included...

11081978 (132hp) As far as I'm concerned, the Series 3 and 5 are two very different animals. Sitting in the 3 series, the car as a whole feels cheap compared to the series 5.

money34 (508hp) Let me just give my 2 cents about access to comfort: my wife's 2007 328i had this, and I didn't even want it or really like it, but with two kids now, it has grew on me and it's very useful to have. Now, on my 2011 535i, the car didn't come with AC, and I find it absolutely stupid that I have to take the key out of my pocket, unlock the car, then put the key back in my pocket (and that's a HUGE key) , and sit in the car with this huge key in my pocket because there's no place to put the damn key. This is the only complaint I have with this setup. If you need a key to unlock the car, the car should have a place to securely place the key..

k.ljxrf (321hp) Friends, I've decided to go big or go home, and instead of the 528i I was planning to buy, I'm going to go with the 535i. Thank you for your contribution!

canela (765hp) I think everything will be fine, from what you say. The N20 really isn't a bad engine at all - but you can see it has limitations. I guess 550 guys would say the same thing about the 535. Lots of progress has been made with bigger and better tunes for the N55, so it's only a matter of time before we really see what this engine is all about is capable..

pinkflower (496hp) Go ahead, in three years if you decide to sell or trade, the monetary value of the options will be close to zero anyway, all that will matter is the mileage and engine displacement.

Also, I would like to make sure I can start the car without inserting the key without AC.

king17 (763hp) You can start the car without inserting the key - this is a standard option

LOVEYOU (525hp) it only changes your payment by about $27-30, I'd say, go for it. The power tailgate is extremely convenient and I use it daily and the power folding mirrors are a must in my book. But no matter what, you can still start the car without inserting a key because there is no place to insert it. You can also manually lock and unlock the car to satisfy your OCD..

tapioca (545hp) So, I still don't know if the 535i, without AC, will have the power folding mirrors or not. I can't find any documentation on this. And according to the ordering guide, the Premium Package doesn't mention that it comes with the power-folding mirrors, which makes me think it's a standard model. Anyone? I can live without CA and Sirius. The power tailgate looks nice, but unnecessary. But I might be upset if I didn't have power folding mirrors (or whatever other secret option you tell me I'm missing without the Premium package)...)

monaghan (466hp) According to Edmunds, the Premium Package includes: Power trunk lid opening and closing, Universal garage door opener, Park distance control sensors in the front and rear bumpers that trigger a series of audible beeps by the occupants of the vehicle.

It's for the 2012, and it's completely different for the 2013.

missy101 (474hp) Body-colored, heated, power-folding exterior mirrors are standard equipment on all 5 Series models. These three can be had for $2,025, or $1,625 without the rearview camera, and are worth more to me than the power liftgate, Comfort Access, and Sirius radio combined for $1500.

ignition (472hp) Quote: Originally posted by itschase I coded 2 F10s without power folding mirrors. I bet these were 2011 models, but things changed in 2012. I took this straight from the 2012 options sheet: Body-color power adjustable, heated, folding side mirrors are standard equipment on all 5 Series models. However, standard equipment is also this, that is, electrically folding mirrors are included: interior mirror and auto-dimming exterior mirrors. In 2011, however, you had to order the ZPP (Premium 1) package. for auto-dimming mirrors: 430 Auto-dimming mirrors • Reduce headlight glare on all of the following vehicles and include a power folding feature. So the power folding mirrors are actually part of the SA430 auto-dimming mirrors, which were an option in 2011, and which now appear to be standard equipment from 2012..

amc123 (517hp) I would upgrade to the 535 for sure, anything above the base model is really nice to have in my opinion and I have had folding mirrors on most of my cars and never used this feature... Except by accident! Another thought for you if you really want the premium package is to step up your negotiations... It's the end of the month and the absolute end of the model year. Charging less the 3500 incentive is the starting point and go from there.!

Kbye (759hp) I just want to know. Is the Foldinh rearview mirror part of the optional equipment in the state? Well in my country it's a norm and I thought it applied to other places too..

cristiane (430hp) After reading all the complaints about business navigation, I can happily say that my business navigation has no problems and does everything I need it to do and more. I have a voice-activated email and messaging app on my SG tablet, so I find the office and BMW apps a bit excessive in a driver's car. The only thing I want is a backup camera. Can I display this on the smaller head unit and the professional navigation monitor? I don't miss the useless TV I had in my E60 at all, but a camera would be nice even if they can't see around corners like the radar on the bumpers

11061984 (897hp) So I get back to my car and go around it just because it was a nice day and I wanted to see the corners and, to my horror, I noticed that I had been hit on the back panel, under the passenger door . I have a few scratches and a dent. Dude, get up and leave your phone number... What annoys me so much is that my car is practically new and this bullshit happens when I'm not at fault!! I'll post some pics later... I'm pretty sure I can buff out the scratches since they don't seem that deep... It's the dent I'm worried about... How does painting less make you feel? dent removal? Are there other alternatives?

tony88 (328hp) This happened to me too. Only a few months of ownership. A large SUV (Caddy) opened the door and dented it directly at the rear wheel arch, but no damage to the paint. I paid $80 to get the PDR and the result was perfect again.

M M GooD (696hp) The PDR is legitimate. As long as the dent is not on a crease, they can remove it perfectly. It sucks to hear about this. Alan

serious1 (440hp) PDC is great and good technology can make the bump go away.

I was so upset when this happened to me that if by chance I did it to someone else (*knock on wood*), I wouldn't even think about not leaving my contact information. As already said, if it is well inside the panel (away from folds, edges) you should be ok with the PDR.

MegaGoo (13hp) I have already carried out several paintless dent repairs and I am always satisfied with the results...

fairlane (916hp) joey5622, If you are talking about the side skirt under the door, I believe it is plastic. The PDRs can only remove the dent if they can get behind the panel, I'm not sure if there is any access to get to it. The PDR guy will not remove any panels to remove the dents, as that is a job for the body shop. Don't feel too bad, the same thing happened to me. 2000 miles on the odometer and someone came back on me while I was parked, took off and left no information. The bumper was dented and the grille scratched, approximately $2,000 worth of damage. I just picked up the car yesterday with a new bumper and grille. No body leaves a rating here anymore, this is one of the biggest flaws of this safe driver credit point system, it doesn't pay to be honest.

161092 (895hp) I feel for you man, my 528 is only about 2 months old, but 3 weeks after taking delivery, some road workers on the sidewalk I was driving in front of were using hand trimmers and instead of cutting the grass, They threw the trimmers onto the road where there were significant amounts of rocks, resulting in chips all over my hood. No choice but to have it repainted. Unfortunately the insurance excess was significantly higher than the paint and this posed too much trouble to make a claim against the employers. Sigh. On the plus side for me the hood after being repainted and recoated was sanded properly unlike when I took delivery and is much better than the factory finish with a mirror reflective finish. Too bad the rest of my car doesn't have a mirror shine, but the car will probably be completely finished with a good paint correction and thinner quartz or optical coating once my hood paint has cured..

yuriy (895hp) It sucks, man. This happened to me too. Everything will be fine.
