I'm surprised that there are hardly any reviews of the most powerful version yet. I asked the BMW folks at the NY Auto Show about the lack of reviews on the 550i. They said they had not yet given the 550i to the media to test drive. No further explanation. Your strategy could be to promote them separately to get another wave of media exposure.

isaac123 (153hp) | I asked the same thing and got a similar answer at the New York Auto Show. BMW's decision to withhold the 550i from testing is starting to make me very nervous. I have no experience in marketing, but potential F10 550 buyers are already incentivized to wait indefinitely for the new M5 to come out. You might think that BMW would now like to create some excitement around this model.

I bought the magazine last week, and only if you're a rear passenger are you more or less better off in the 7 Series, to be brief. And his braking distance was shorter. But paying 20,000 euros (in Germany) more than for the 530d is your own decision. In any case, the color, appearance and wheels of the tested 730d are excellent in my opinion compared to the silver gray 530d....

jillybean (773hp) | Comparison test from the German AMS: 530d x-drive vs. A6 3.0 tdi quattro vs. E350cdi 4-matic. BMW ends up in last place. Loses to Audi in the disciplines of handling, performance, braking, economy, etc. Loses to MB in the discipline of comfort. This is the first comparison test I've ever seen of a 5 Series losing out to its premium German rivals. The new Audi has caught up. I wasn't referring to moving the turn signals into the mirrors, which I don't mind at all and is actually better on most vehicles. What I was reacting to was the fact that BMW didn't want to create new faceplates to accommodate this change and instead appears to be continuing to use the pre-LCI plates and just adding a model identification/plate where the turn signal used to be it. Looks cheap and reflects BMW's poor economy attitude to the world.

daniel9 (578hp) | So here is the real question. Does anyone know if you can get an LCI 550i with a 6 speed manual transmission??
|
kaitlyn3 (53hp) | The only thing that matters is the steering changes. Oh, little update. The interior looks beautiful. Unfortunately, nothing can be done about the bloated curb weight and the 116 wheelbase.
|
pap (23hp) | Has anyone noticed that there are two additional buttons on the seat above the lumbar support? Are they bringing back the side bolsters? Sigh. Now is a good time to upgrade.
|
babyface12 (478hp) | I can't say for sure, but how are the taillights different? Are they darker???

BMW could go for all the luxury/tech features, but ultimately the F10 will be judged by the poor steering before LCI. Hopefully the LCI will change that.

dewitt (844hp) | In my opinion the big advantages are: - LED headlights - B&O stereo system - iDrive with touch controller. That makes it a win in my opinion.

ibarra (298hp) | BMW should NOT have increased the price. Navigation should be standard on a car like the 5 Series. Wouldn't you expect a sat-nav in a luxury sedan if you're sitting with your butt in the car? So WTF BMW!!! and why no update to the N55 engine. not even a performance boost!!! When will the N55 be phased out? We need more power

boulogne (304hp) | There should be a performance increase or weight loss that would bring the 5 Series to A level6

In fact, BMW has moved the turn signals to the side mirror housing across its entire range, as a European law will soon come into force requiring all vehicles sold in the EU to have turn signals in the mirror housing. BMW was the only manufacturer in Europe that still had them on the fenders.

Looks cheap and reflects BMW's poor economy attitude to the world.

edward23 (814hp) | I don't really like the new exterior - the extra lines in the front and rear bumper are unnecessary. The LED headlight option for all models is cool. I'm more interested in the E-Class facelift, but maybe because I don't have one. I also prefer the old taillights, 3 wires are too many like that 7.

THMSNL (363hp) | Quote: That was then – this is now: Consumer tastes are changing. Body-on-frame SUVs are dead, as Ford switched to monobody construction with the Explorer in 2011/12. Car buyers seeking practical transportation options are considering station wagons, and some manufacturers have vehicles ready, most notably Cadillac's CTS Wagon and recent news from Lexus is strongly considering including a station wagon in its next IS iteration. I question BMW's consideration of replacing the Touring in the US with a heavier, more expensive, less practical vehicle with a limited powertrain. It seems logical that a great marketing department would be able and willing to create a business plan and create demand for great looking, sophisticated, practical and sporty transportation like the F11. If not, allow me to try. I'll do it for free! You have such an amazing product here, I can't stop thinking about it! Yes, it's true, unfortunately consumers' demands are not changing in the direction of the BMW 5 Series Touring. In recent years we have noticed a decline in the US market for touring models, and BMW had previously warned that engine variants and model ranges would sooner or later be discontinued in certain markets. Unfortunately, the 5 Series Touring is a loss in the North American market. The inclusion of the 5 Series Gran Turismo offers a replacement that departs from the utilitarian stigma that the Touring had. What was noticed with this new concept (the 5 Series Gran Turismo) is that customers appreciate the flexibility and variability of a station wagon in a car that doesn't look like it. The 5 Series Gran Turismo offers an impressive balance of luxury and comfort with typical BMW precision in a package that is anything but conventional. With Gran Turismo, we noticed, particularly in Europe, when the car went on sale in November, that the majority of cars delivered to customers were actually new BMW cars. I can't comment on the story for North America, although I assume it might be similar for some customers. With the introduction of the new X5 and 5 Series Gran Turismo, these will continue to be the choice for customers seeking flexibility and sporty luxury. The X5 offers all-wheel drive, while the 5 Series Gran Turismo will introduce xDrive later this year. The decision not to introduce the new BMW 5 Series Touring in North America is solely due to the declining demand for such vehicles. Sales of the E61 platform have fallen dramatically in North America. While the 5 Series Gran Turismo has sold more units than the E61Touring in North America so far this year.
