260479 (172hp) Update: The dealer was told they had adjusted the clutch, but apparently that did nothing to improve the problem. BMW has now asked them to remove the transmission and check the clutch components... I'm starting to think this problem won't be fixed... If it doesn't I will demand that they take back the car and replace it (for an automatic, of course)...

sinbad1 (721hp) I tried to replicate this and couldn't do it with my car. I installed a modified CDV though, not sure if that makes a difference.

Once they start taking your car apart, the procedures that will follow to repair it are endless. Good luck convincing them to take it back - and BTW, an automatic seems like the right choice for you.

130783 (148hp) According to the dealer, the clutch was badly burned and needs to be replaced. They can't explain how this happened. BMW will cover the replacement but I fear this is a symptom rather than the cause of the problem... Needless to say I didn't burn the clutch because I didn't know how to drive a manual... I didn't Only owned manual cars in my life and never burned the clutch. This car only has 2,200 miles on the odometer...

It is impossible for an educated driver to burn the clutch after a few thousand kilometers. Insist on a faulty clutch!

A clutch is such a simple mechanism that there's no real mystery as to how it happens when you're toast. I would also take the seriously burned statement with a grain of salt. Maybe the new clutch will fix the problem and I wish you luck, but I bet replacing the clutch won't fix it - I hope I'm wrong.

iloveluke1 (317hp) http://www.edmunds.com/lincoln/mkz/2013/road-test.html Interesting.

lauren18 (251hp) Eh... it could be lots of things. With all the power the M5 has, one wonders if it was overloaded in slalom...compared to a low-powered all-wheel drive sedan. Just a thought.

ilovekim1 (716hp) they put PSS on their cars... not interesting.

virago (913hp) They put crazy summer tires on this car.

flores12 (619hp) Yeah, I just read the article. The numbers are biased. They put things on the car that don't even exist in the production version.

789852 (590hp) I don't know where Lincoln is going with their new designs, but this has got to be one of the ugliest lines ever. I was a big Lincoln fan in the 90s, but the new cooperating front end is a face only a rider could love..

bunny6 (123hp) I'm not sure it matters.

mudar123 (308hp) I find it very interesting that Lincoln uses the same tires that are standard on the M5 and they beat BMW's numbers. Tires make a huge difference in these performance tests. I've made the argument in the past, the limitation on BMW xDrive cars isn't the xDrive or the extra 125 pounds, it's their bad all-season grand touring tires. I put Michelin PSS (and forged wheels) on my 550 and it completely transformed the car in the corners.

volinder (14hp) I upgraded to a 2012 535i (early 2012 production) a few months ago, and every time I start the car I have to turn up the volume on the audio system to get it back to where it was before. It never seems to remember the previous volume setting. I've tried both key fobs, importing and exporting profiles, adjusting speed sensitivity, but I can't seem to stop it from resetting the volume every time the car is turned off. I use an iPod plugged into the center console USB port, if that matters. I've also tried adjusting the iPod's volume when unplugged, with no joy. It's also the same iPod I was chasing in my previous 2009 non-iDrive 335i, and it had no problem remembering the previous audio volume. Any ideas? Is this a known issue? AIT.

150389 (515hp) I also noticed the same problem.

260592 (594hp) I think this is intentional, probably so you don't "explode" when you turn it on.

mouse12 (739hp) Quote: Originally posted by BMWrules7 Turn off speed-sensitive volume in settings. Set to 1, I don't think this will help, please see speed volume information below. Many of today's modern BMWs contain a setting in the radio that allows the user to adjust the speed-sensitive volume of the audio system. Here's what that means: As vehicle RPM increases, the radio automatically does two things: Increases the radio volume Decreases the low frequency response to minimize distortion at higher volumes

sasusaku (119hp) My e89 (z4) does this. The car always resets the volume to a low level when starting, to avoid loud noises when you start the car. Imagine you turned the volume really loud during a fun walk. The next morning you walk in and are blown away by how loud the volume was when you turned it off. Not fun. The car therefore lowers the volume. On my e89, it's at a volume where it's listenable but quieter. This is no problem for me, it keeps me from having a heart attack if there is an unexpected loud noise.!

HFW003 (775hp) I couldn't believe my eyes today at my local dealership...2013 535xi with....19 inch Y spokes from the old sport pack! I took a photo just to confirm. On the sticker it is indicated as an option. Understood. Could this be the new standard wheel now???? Is there any way to get the old sport wheel? Maybe there is a chance to rebuild the old sports pack non m sports car! excited, to say the least.

I may sound completely crazy, but I think I want to compete in a 13 no m sport if I can find an option of sport wheels, comfort wheels and seats. essentially, it's the old sports package without the black headliner. I learned the hard way that waiting is not a good thing. Maybe I can get my chance with this look before it disappears completely with the 2014 LCI. Sure, there may be a power bump, LED headlights...but there's something magically beautiful in the 11-13 with those sport wheels. Best design bar none for the sedan 5.

maxpredator (375hp) Looks similar to style 331. This is an unusually heavy wheel at 16.1/16.3 kg according to http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ This is almost 2 kg heavier than style 351 came with the M sport package. I thought about ordering the non M sport 550. The standard 18 style 330 wheels are only 12.6/12.9. They're not very interesting to look at, but they might work better in the real world than some of these extra-heavy 19s..

eurome (433hp) I agree, I actually prefer them to my stock 351 Msport wheels. The good thing is I'm sure you can find a used set or someone willing to trade in their Msport wheels for these. Alan

clafmuk (109hp) hey guys...i just bought a silver 520d f10 a few days ago. It's a great car so far. The only problem (so far) I have is the driver's seat. I felt like it wasn't going high enough. This is a semi-electric seat where only 2 electrical adjustments can be made, seat height and tilt angle. Fore and aft adjustment is manual, as is seat angle adjustment. I will be visiting the dealership later this week but was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. yesterday I had the chance to sit in a 523i demo car with a fully electric seat. and sure enough, I was able to adjust the seat high enough that there was only about a 3 finger gap between my head and the ceiling of the car. I asked the seller but he wasn't knowledgeable enough to explain if my car (520d) and the 523i should have a different seat height.. I hope it's just a problem with my car that may be solved.. otherwise I would be very disappointed... :-( I tested the exact same car model about a month ago, but I couldn't remember if it was a problem at that time.

titleist1 (738hp) It looks like you have the sports seat, and the other car with fully electric seats has comfort seats. Very different. Comfort seats are great, but expensive.

wethebest1 (887hp) interesting...i never noticed this fact..i previously had an E46 with a premium package and it must also have comfort seats. I didn't know such a thing existed. I knew that there is an option for thigh support like in M3 for example. thanks for reporting it kave..

kyle1234 (993hp) I wonder if its model year is related. I drove a 2010 model that had part power seats and it felt like even with the seat at its highest position I was sitting on the floor. I drove a few 2011 models and they certainly felt taller. This was a concern for me because I recently purchased a 2012 model with fully power seats, but the seat height is good and it rides high. I'm 5'10 and with the seat at its highest, I have about 2-3 inches of headroom.

lovejoy1 (234hp) You are the same here, you had a 2011 520d and I changed it to a 2012 520d a few weeks ago, the seating position is definitely different, in my case the seat won't go low enough compared to the 2011 model. I went to another dealer and sat in a 2011 and everything was fine. Looks like they changed the sitting position.

I drove a few 2011 models and they certainly felt taller. This was a concern for me because I recently purchased a 2012 model with fully power seats, but the seat height is good and it rides high. I'm 5'10 and with the seat at its highest, I have about 2-3 inches of headroom.

oyekunle (993hp) You are the same here, you had a 2011 520d and I changed it to a 2012 520d a few weeks ago, the seating position is definitely different, in my case the seat won't go low enough compared to the 2011 model. I went to another dealer and sat in a 2011 and everything was fine. Looks like they changed the sitting position.

Maybe you're better off looking on EBay or going to a car wrecker for OEM parts... IMO, some of this aftermarket stuff can easily be a recipe for trouble...

firestar1 (66hp) Has anyone purchased/installed this aftermarket F-10 spoiler (available on ebay)? I did some research and it seems everyone is happy with it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230885102106...84.m1497.l2649

love214 (432hp) This is the one I like too. I think it looks pretty sharp. I thought about it.

Titanic (572hp) I went ahead and ordered it. I will post some photos after installing it.

slowpoke (868hp) Good deal. I can't wait to see your photos

140689 (194hp) nice, I went for the CF look so I got this one 1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-F10-528i...300cac&vxp=mtr

valya.lantux.83 (93hp) Let me know how it works, it looks really nice...how are you going to mount it?

cowboys07 (750hp) I need to get one too. I like the way the 1st one ends. They are in Brea so I can go there and check them out if they let people in and pick them up..

mike1 (23hp) seems really cheap (in terms of price) compared to Vorsteiner etc. Let me know if you see it and what you think of the quality..

221087 (487hp) Hmm, that's a huge price difference compared to the original one and even other aftermarket spoilers. Looks cool, but I'd really need to see it in person to make a decision on quality and fit..

081286 (301hp) I purchased from the seller below. The quality of the spoiler matches OEM. I looked at a new M5 at the dealer and it was identical. Their website warns that the red and white colors may not match. Mine is white and it's perfect. Even the texture of the paint matches that of the car. And the best part, $69 delivered. Took a week from Taiwan and shipped via FedEx. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=321034907352

quique (310hp) I bought a JBS one Look in the classifieds section – tons of positive reviews. Jbspeed.com I believe. Perfect color match for me on a hard gray color. Comes with tape and it's easy to do, but have someone help you line it up - my 9 year old son helped me and it does the back. Very subtle but more aggressive on my 550. Enjoy

330iToy (252hp) I was driving on the highway yesterday and a car in front of me swerved onto the shoulder, a nasty rock flew and smashed into the windshield. Now there is a long crack on the bottom left of the windshield (driver's side), I will try to take a photo, but it is difficult to capture the damage. It is a long crack (6 to 8 inches). Is there any chance something like this can be fixed? Or do I need to replace the entire windshield? I have a deductible, so it could cost me $500. Terrible timing just before Christmas

cazador (816hp) The crack will simply expand even more over time due to the constant vibrations of the road. If you have a HUD you really have to get it done at the dealer (maybe) because the windshield has a different coating (on the inside of the glass).).

Something very similar happened to me just a few days ago. I called my insurance and was told that if a dollar bill covers the damage, it can be repaired for free. If the windshield needs to be replaced, my $500 deductible covers it. YouTube videos on windshield repair show some pretty serious damage being repaired without the windshield needing to be replaced. My windshield has already been repaired for free. The repair isn't perfect but I think I'll keep it that way until the next rock..

dovbeshkosushova.1972 (159hp) I believe this is covered by my comprehensive insurance and there should be no excess. At least I had no deductible when I had to replace the one on my Honda Odyssey.

110067 (90hp) Quote: Originally posted by 1HOT BMR Did you buy the car new? A demo with a few kilometers could have been abused. Yes, I bought it new, built to order. It was less than 15 miles when I took delivery. I hope the problem will be solved with the new clutch. I should get it back this week (the clutch had to be ordered from Germany)...

raymart (832hp) Has the dealer tested the car and agree with you? The reason I ask this is because I noticed in my E92 M3 that in first gear the clutch handle if released a little too early when applying gas caused jerking and sometimes violent stutters from the car before moving forward and fully engaging. This happened to me when I sat too far back or was tired and my clutch engagement was off. Similar to how the SMG would start shaking in first gear. Most people who test drive my car for the first time would end up doing the same thing and asking: wtf? I've owned manual transmission cars my entire life, including Evos, M3s, and my current GT3RS, and have completed countless track days in them and my motorcycles without ever burning a clutch. I also rented a 550i 6mt sport and never experienced that car. It was only in the current m3. I just adjusted the way I drive and never had a problem. I believe there have been a few discussions like this on the m3 forums. Concerning the cdv, reflashed in clear, you are mishandling it. I thought I'd throw this in there
