79797979 (542hp) I just sold my wife's X5 5.0 and my E90 new 550

300492 (283hp) Here is x5

9009 (203hp) Here's a quick and easy mod that makes driving my car even more enjoyable. I replaced the stock manual shifter with the M Performance shifter. It's shorter, heavier and features carbon and Alcantara. The exchange time is approx. 5 minutes. $190 at getbmwparts.com

181091 (524hp) Looks great. Man, I miss the control stick.

gianfranco (385hp) PRETTY!

kitty25 (52hp) Link-Link-Link!

This is why the shift travel “feels” shorter – but nothing has changed under the shift knob, so it’s just a matter of perception. But a good thing...

Modern cars are so good, and I do too much stop-and-go, living in the suburbs... I haven't really looked back. But these pictures suddenly make me miss it, lol.

As for the new shifter, I'm trying hard to like it. I actually looked at the same one myself but I personally prefer the look of the original setup.

In short, some of the clips (4, 2 on each side) are not what they are supposed to be. The clip is there to hold the diffuser in place, but four of them are just a piece of plastic. So can't hold. This only happens on both sides of the diffuser, other clips at the top of the diffuser were fine. We heated it and bent it into a hook shape to keep it stable. Also use this type of fluid that auto body shops use to patch broken bumpers to stick them in place.

maxwell12 (599hp) Stupid question... as I know it's almost impossible on these cars... and of course not easy to do, but worth asking... I'm wondering if I can change my adaptive bi-xenon headlights from the 2011 535i can convert to the new headlight assembly from 2014. Is this possible, or would retrofitting it be too complicated? I had a pre-LCI E60 many years ago, which I was able to convert to the LCI models, but needed a lot of rewiring, coding, etc... I don't want to do it if it's going to be similar... It already has someone tried??

sexyme2 (640hp) Do you mean switching to LED headlights? If you're asking about switching to xenon, it's not much of an upgrade, if any. In addition, the LED signal lights are lost.

beemer (826hp) It's not worth it unless you go for the new LED headlights. In my opinion the newer bi-xenon headlights don't look as good because they lack the side LED signal group. If you swap, you will also need to swap out the side mirrors. I believe you need to recode too. It's too much money and work. It's probably not cheap either. If you do that, you might as well spend the money on upgrading to the new, all-digital instrument cluster and/or infotainment/navigation system.

Although I like the LED signal lights in front of LCI better, the LCI xenon looks pretty good with the glowing eyebrows and amber light tube on the side. The halo light also shines more evenly, there are no hot spots on the bottom.

But I like the LED turn signal cluster on my existing one. Well... thanks guys for the input. Maybe I'll just stick with the ones I have.

1027 (246hp) This week I tried to open the door twice after parking the car, but the door wouldn't open because the locks wouldn't open. I pull the handle, you see the locking pin on the door open, but not all the way, and the door won't open. I had to use the key to unlock it. Has anyone else experienced this???

I've been experiencing this since last fall. I didn't have time to get the car stolen yet so they could take care of it. I suspect a defective door lock mechanism.

iloveyew (527hp) This happened to me a few times this month. Sometimes when I try to open the door with the engine running, the door won't unlock. However, it unlocks when I press the center console button or turn off the engine (the doors then unlock automatically). I have a defective comfort door handle on the driver's side, it may not work.

811811 (435hp) It could be that the mechanism cannot be switched on/off completely. The parts aren't expensive, the work is.

duck12 (665hp) I have the same problem with the driver's door. The unlock randomly fails when the internal handle is pulled. I have to press the main lock/unlock button on the dash to unlock it. I also have an issue with the driver side door handle not locking via convenience entry - the unlock works but not the lock on that particular handle. I will be going for service in about 1,000 miles, these items are on the list of things to check.
