ai (63hp) You will also get the gloss black background if you order it with automatic anti-dazzle in the exterior mirrors..

sweety2 (236hp) Automatic anti-dazzling of the exterior mirrors... are you sure? Auto-dimming headlights are standard on a 550 but the mirrors are painted, not the black glass.

pookie23 (264hp) Not sure if you're turning around, but I'm also talking about the 430 option. 430 Auto Dimming Mirrors (STANDARD on 550) 5AC Auto High Beams (NOT STANDARD on 550) Side note: I don't think that you can order 5AC as a standalone option, it is ordered with the ZDA driver assistance package, at least on the 550. I know my 550 has the 430 option and it does not have black glass mirrors nor others that I have seen..

I know my 550 has the 430 option and it doesn't have mirrors black glass nor any others I have seen. I tried the German configurator, and you're right, no shiny black background with the 430. BUT I'm pretty sure I tried that several mouths ago, when I noticed the two different mirrors, and then the 430 had the gloss black lower mirrors. . So they could have changed it to 2011.

peaches08 (264hp) In the United States, the black background is added when ordering the side cameras. In Canada, it's standard on all configurations... go figure! I'm wrong, they aren't standard on all configurations - the 528 doesn't have it unless you order active blind spot detection.

godknows (750hp) yes, I wish they were standard, they look very pretty

mamichula1 (116hp) Thanks everyone for the info. I like the look of the shiny lower rear, but I didn't order the side camera package on my soon-to-arrive F10 - too bad, but I didn't need the cameras.

Gixxer550i (990hp) I have auto dimming mirrors on my 535d and they are a solid color. This is in the UK, but who knows what applies elsewhere. Maybe there should be a university course on BMW options - but I'm not sure there are many graduates who will succeed. .

demi (796hp) haha, so it's true. You would need serious continuing education as BMW still often changes its options and their details without notice and indiscriminately..

iloveme01 (13hp) I think if the F10 is equipped with the Satin Aluminum Exterior Trim option or the Shadowline Exterior option, the lower part of the side mirror cover will be glossy black. For the 523i and 520d without this option, the mirror cover is body color, while the 528i/535i/550i/530d will be matte black..... The M Sport option includes either the Shadowline or satin aluminum, so all M Sports comes with gloss black lower mirror caps..... At least that's what I understand for Europe and Asia.....

unleashed (327hp) Need help from anyone who knows how to get satellite images on the navigation system. I read the manual (page 163 and really no explanation) and I see the Satellite Images option in the navigation system, but I can't seem to talk about it. According to the manual you will: Navigation map Open options Settings I can highlight the satellite images but nothing seems to happen. For this to work, should I only highlight sat images? and is it only for fullscreen, or should it also show sharing? THANKS

220022 (160hp) is there a setting? I can't display album art like others I've seen here. I tried with 3G and iPhone 4. I have the iPod USB option....

noodle2 (324hp) How do you connect iPhones? Use the standard white cable that came with iPhone. Once logged in, there are two ways to view album art. First, if you're viewing the iPod/iPhone on the main screen, a small version of the album art should appear in the upper right corner. You can also push the iDrive button to the right, which will take you to a menu to view options on the split screen. From there you select Entertainment Details. Once a song starts playing, the artist, album, and song title will appear on the right. It takes a few seconds but the album art should appear....

diva09 (652hp) I've been buying 5 series for several years, going back to the first 5 series, most recently an E60. I didn't buy the sport package for my new F10 because I live in Chicago and didn't want a 19 wheeler. I also didn't like the black trim. I purchased the multicontour sets. I drove the F10 series more than once before purchasing the car, but some had the sport option and some didn't. I didn't really notice how thin the steering wheel rim was on the standard 535i until after I bought the car. My standard E60 steering wheel was thicker. I would be willing to buy the sport wheel as a part (around $1000), but it looks like the airbag would also need to be changed, which would cost over $2000. I thought about buying a leather cover to go around the standard leather steering wheel, but the only ones I've seen are the Wheelskins brand and I'm sure I'm happy with the results. Additionally, it would diminish the heating benefit of my existing heated steering wheel. I could live with that. I spoke to a few F10 owners who said they got used to the standard steering wheel and were happy. Maybe I will too. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas.

laxman (793hp) Hey I couldn't stand the stock thin steering wheel, I had an e60 then an e92 and the new f10's stock steering wheel is ridiculously thinner than those cars. So much so that I'm glad I got the sport package on my f10. If you buy as a piece, your spending is close to the MSRP of the F10 Sport Package. But I still feel your pain... Good luck!

indira (627hp) I believe if you buy the sport automatic transmission ($500) you get paddle shifters and a bigger steering wheel..

zukunft (876hp) I already have the car. I couldn't order the sport automatic transmission as a separate option. It automatically adds the sport package. In Europe you can buy the sports steering wheel without having to add the sports package.

neejay (806hp) Hi guys, I have just taken delivery of the f10 550i M Sport, here in the UK they are working on cracking the ECU (unlike Dinan with their Tricks BOX), it might take another two months so I am told. Anyway, the point of the post is: does anyone know if the engine internals are the same as the Xm5/6 or what?. anyone.

holycross (593hp) detail the cracks and their potential consequences ...

jjbirch (670hp) Quote: Originally posted by Delvek, explain cracking and its potential results in detail... Cracking the ECU means understanding the protocols and interrogating the ECU, then applying a proper fueling and valve timing program as well as boost ect. All factory cars are rich, among other things, because of the big differences in fuels around the world. Once a map has been tested and perimeters set for good fuel quality, the car will run great and have power. This is a much better and safer way to preserve your engine..

x5x2 (295hp) Quote: Posted by delvek interesting... and the consequences on your warranty? potential software updates? Well software updates would remove the map but it's just a matter of reloading if it's not too bothersome I've remapped all my cars and have never needed a replacement of remapping. I think software updates are (here anyway) something dealers avoid unless absolutely necessary, it takes up so much time on the computer. Warranty between you and the dealer and your relationship with them.

one2three4 (425hp) I picked up my 520d M Sport Sport Auto on January 8th. So far, it has absolutely met all my expectations: comfortable, torquey and sporty when necessary. I average 6.8 Lt/100 KM (41.5 UK MPG, 34.5 US MPG) with a mix of 130 KM/h on motorways and 110 KM/H on secondary roads. Consumption varied from 6.2 Lt/100Km to 7.2 Lt/100Km. I have 1700 km on it now. I'm very happy with it considering the M Sport has 275/40/18s in the rear. I love the look and feel of the car, the steering is a little light on center but not as numb as the SE on 17 inch wheels with non M-Sport suspension I had to demo. I have the vent whistle at 4 bar and above (Std A/C), no side pull or any of the other issues discussed so far. The Oyster/Black exceeded my expectations in the flesh and it goes very well with the space gray which also highlights the curves of the car very well. Minor issues so far would be syncing the phone with my desire HD it only shows contacts whereas on my previous E72 I had messages and calendar so hopefully an update Later software level will fix this for Android phones. Music over USB is great although it takes a while to get where you want via iDrive. So some shortcuts to program this weekend!! I'm really glad I went with the sports car, the difference when you switch to sport is very noticeable even on a 520d and takes the car from pedestrian to great fun. The ambient lighting option that gives the chrome on the door handles as well as the beautiful lighting inside is a must-have. I washed it for the first time on Sunday and there are a lot of metal goods to move compared to my E90. One thing I noticed even at this early stage was the amount of tar being thrown onto the bodywork from the tires. The rears of the 275 in particular are problematic because they extend beyond the wheel arches. I need to talk to the dealer about the value of the fenders, he told me not to bother when ordering. So far everything is FANTASTIC!!! Oh yeah, my neighbors think it was the guy in the red suit who delivered it…

22121983 (214hp) Wow! Congratulations on the new car, it looks fantastic. I owned an 08 E60 M-Sport and am expecting delivery of my new F10 M Sport any day now. It's also space gray and I too opted for the oyster/black combination. I haven't heard much about the M-sport suspension and wasn't sure if I thought it was a bit stiffer than the E60 M Sport suspension when I tested it. What do you think of this? Is it uncomfortable? I loved the E60's beefed-up suspension and when I drove standard F10 suspension it felt very floaty. The F10 M Sport suspension was far superior in my opinion.

mjb (377hp) Congratulations. The car looks great. I have to wait another 7 days for mine. The wait is killing me!!!

brandonlee (14hp) I know how you feel! I ordered mine at the beginning of October and the wait is killing me. It has remained in a UK port for the past two weeks. Apparently there is a three week delay in Series 5 cleaning across the UK since the bad weather before Christmas. I'm told the car might be available to pick up Saturday, but if not, it will probably be next Tuesday. I am surprised that the order tracking system is not able to provide more accurate information regardless of the supposed delay.?

I haven't heard much about the M-sport suspension and wasn't sure if I thought it was a bit stiffer than the E60 M Sport suspension when I tested it. What do you think of this? Is it uncomfortable? I loved the E60's beefed-up suspension and when I drove standard F10 suspension it felt very floaty. The F10 M Sport suspension was far superior in my opinion.

boys101 (506hp) Congratulations. The car looks great. I have to wait another 7 days for mine. The wait is killing me!!!

pooface (725hp) I know how you feel! I ordered mine at the beginning of October and the wait is killing me. It has remained in a UK port for the past two weeks. Apparently there is a three week delay in processing Series 5 across the UK since the bad weather before Christmas. I'm told the car might be available to pick up Saturday, but if not, it will probably be next Tuesday. I am surprised that the order tracking system is not able to provide more accurate information regardless of the supposed delay.?

Oddly, I have yet to see a photo that does the colors justice. I find the M Sport suspension very comfortable, sporty enough for me but probably not as harsh as the E60. Rear grip is superb with the larger tires.

I went to see it at the dealership several times before picking it up with all 11 plates.

demetrius (256hp) wow, great car!! What type of audio system did you buy?

sylky (394hp) Congratulations on the new car. This looks awesome!!! Appreciate!!! Excellent mileage.

If it looks better than this in the flesh, it must be spectacular! You should try a little tire wax, for example Wet n'black from Turtle Wax and carnauba wax for paint. It makes a huge difference, believe me. I'm happy to hear that the suspension is ok. I ordered the 19 wheels so I hope they will be comfortable. I know it's a matter of personal taste, but for me, space gray is the perfect color to highlight the curves of the car. The oyster/black with space gray interior is fabulous. I opted for the ambient lighting package, 19 wheels, sunroof, visibility package, spoiler, automatic shift paddles, fine charcoal trim and matte aluminum exterior trim. after seeing yours I'm even more excited to take delivery of mine.

maries (819hp) The carnauba wax I purchased is a Pinnacle Souverain paste wax and costs around 90 on eBay, but it is considered the best wax on the market. I have a whole selection of products waiting to be used on my new car, from paint sealant and carnauba wax to leather conditioner..

261083 (399hp) If you have any photos of the ambient lighting at night it would be nice to see them.....

onepiece1 (381hp) Hi, I test drove a 520d Sports the other day and want to make a deal in the next few days before raising the price by 1300. What discount did you get? He offered me a 2% discount but told me when you will be ready to do it. make a deal, there would be more. It would be great to see to know. Thanks, great car, enjoy.

anthony101 (996hp) I highly recommend: Collinite No. 476S - Super Doublecoat Auto Wax It is easy to apply and lasts longer.

No worries, 19 351M alloys are excellent, no problems.

17011990 (993hp) Thanks for the feedback on the 19 wheels. Your 550i is a serious machine!

It's very discreet, but really nice when you look around the car. A few other guys here have posted pictures, but you really have to see it in the flesh. You are right about the wax, I also need to get some clay. I actually put some polish on the sidewalls of the tires after taking the photos (and cleaning the inside), not that you'd know that now as I've done 350km since then on muddy, wet roads . Lots of good detailed information on this site http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php

oldschool_94 (602hp) Hello friends, I hope someone has the answer to this question. I just picked up my new 520D F10 M Sport last Saturday. I haven't ordered Nav but I notice that in front of the iDrive controller there is a button that says Nav on it. Does this mean that all the hardware required for Nav is already installed but the software is locked? If yes, is it possible to unblock? I've only got 300 miles on the clock since I bought it and I get around 34mpg (UK) despite very gentle driving. Is this normal and if so how close should I get to 56mpg? Finally, does anyone know how long it takes to "break in" the engine ??

andree (430hp) mpg seems low, i received my 52o msport manual last monday, 1300 miles so far and averaging 47mpg on a mix of highway, and city driving, sorry i can't help tune the system navigation.

080895 (551hp) Thanks for the response anyway.

cvb123 (901hp) Anyone else know about Nav hardware???

gerry1 (186hp) Drjferris I was checking the iDrive controller specs and I think other than the country specific specs there is no mention of a different controller whether you opted for Nav or not (so the NAV button is still there ) - although I highly doubt that the Nav hardware is installed, you can see at RealOEM that activation codes are available for initial and subsequent activation. You may want to check with your dealer to be sure. Cheers

gangster10 (437hp) No navigation equipment. Cost savings for BMW by having only one type of idrive controller instead of multiple variants.

nicholas22 (318hp) Thanks a lot guys!

Reset the OBC and trip computer in conjunction with an edge to edge check - this will give you a more accurate indication as well as how far away the OBC is. Per the manual, you should not exceed the applicable rev limit for the first 1,200-mile break-in period. Then you can start to open gradually, but it is important not to overload the engine and vary the speeds as much as possible, that is, not to drive long distances at a constant speed until until you have around 2000 rpm. kilometers by car.
