fastNugly (204hp) | Quote: Posted by Mobileum Attention to you who want video on iPod/iPhone. I have it and I'm disappointed. The image size is small, half size (640x480). This is due to the cable used. This is an FBAS (old technology) cable, unable to transfer the signal quality needed to fill the CIC screen. A 4:3 aspect ratio movie will fill the height (not the width), but HD or 16:9 will only fill half the screen (centered). The zoom function is not available as with DVD. Mobileum, I have the factory or retrofit of bimmer-tech 6NR?

mystuff (45hp) | My new F10 530d was delivered yesterday after more than 5 months of waiting. I had to drive to our headquarters today (150 miles mostly highway) and was looking forward to a long drive there and back to get used to the car. After 10 miles, a warning message appears stating: “Chassis” “Drive moderately and contact the Service Desk ya-de-ya-de-ya”. So it's now back at the dealership and I should pick it up tomorrow (they think it's just a sensor fault.......). What a disappointment

Apparently it was a faulty sensor but they decided to replace the entire part (sorry techs, I forgot what part it was), which then requires a system initialization (i.e. say a total restart of the car). But only BMW Germany can do the final reset, so the car sat there all day connected to a computer at the dealership that is connected to a computer in Germany waiting for a final reboot. After 8 hours - no reboot. The dealer swears blind that this will happen overnight and I will get my car back tomorrow..... So 2 days without my new car. The only consolation is that they loaned me a limited edition M3 coupe while they have my car..

gr8one (63hp) | It was more than likely that it needed to be reset and coded and they were waiting for someone at BMW-AG in Munich to release/send them the access codes that would allow the reboot to proceed. In these new BMWs it seems like everything is software controlled and unless you have the right access codes...nothing happens.

mama01 (468hp) | I looked around and I think the Meisterschaft is a beast. However, for me it is too much and too strong. I want my F10 550i to sound sporty and growl, but not wake up the whole neighborhood and scare the grandmas every time I stop or take off from a red light! After listening to a few clips and doing extensive research, I decided on an Eissenmann Race exhaust. I had them on my M3 and X6 and they were very nice! Refined yet sporty and definitely distinctive enough to change the way the car sounds and handles. There are others as well Supersprint and some people have tried to adopt Remus (who doesn't make a system for the 550 yet) and others have made custom systems as well. Take a look around and see what floats your boat.

Here are the options: M Sport Cold Weather Driver Assistance Package, Driver Assistance and Executive Package, Bang and Olufson Sound Luxury Seating Package, SPT Trans Rear Sunshade Overall, I like it , it's way too quiet, so I'm looking at the exhaust now. But the car is fast and fun to drive. I wouldn't go for B&O radio though, it's definitely not worth it. Either there is no Sub in the car or it is broken. My E60 M5's stereo was 10 times better.

fuckyou06 (850hp) | Quote: Originally posted by tmac99 Nice! What do you have in Dinan? I will overhaul the rear diffuser with an OEM F10 M5 painted to match the body. I thought it went better with the OEM M Sport kit I already had with the car at the time of purchase and would further accentuate Eissenman's advice. Dinan Performance software will be added to give it more power and torque and also allow the exhaust to breathe and improve the sound. Finally, I'm adding the OEM rear spoiler since the M Sport kit really should have come with it! Improved wheels will arrive next spring after all things wet and snowy are over. I'll post pics next week when I get the car back.

dancer23 (866hp) | At what stage is the Dinan software?
hottie94 (742hp) | Quote: Posted by tmac99 What stage does Dinan software take? Step 1 for now... it hits 495 hp and 573 torque, which is more than my current factory 400/450. Since having the full M Sport package, my top speed limiter has already been increased to 155 mph. Dinan has just deleted it entirely. I'll probably move on to step 2 or 3 later, but to me the subsequent increases seem minuscule, a 511 hp/581 torque for $700-900 more depending on which one you choose. Even with their sale, I would see what life is like at stage 1 and talk to a few people who have done stage 2 and beyond before going that route, as I'm not sure of the payoff for the spent. But I can always do it later because Dinan only charges the difference between milestone upgrades... thank goodness.!
sugarfree (859hp) | It looks awesome. so step 1 takes you to 495 hp? It's great.
21082108 (442hp) | post an escape video when you get the chance. I would like to hear what it sounds like.
steven15 (496hp) | Yes, Dinan Stage 1 gives you 496 hp and 580 torque, the rest of the stages seem to be incremental hp improvements of around 10-20 hp and really no torque, so I think it's more of a improved mapping for better answer I guess. Anyway, I think stage 1 should be fine for a first stage, but I would like to hear the opinion of all Dinan owners of stage 2 or 3..

100286 (157hp) | I looked around and I think the Meisterschaft is a beast. However, for me it is too much and too strong. I want my F10 550i to sound sporty and growl, but not to wake up the whole neighborhood and scare the grandmothers every time I stop or take off from a red light!

310876 (530hp) | Post the options please and photos of the interior, does the car also have active steering ??
horses101 (533hp) | I don't have active management. My E60 M5's stereo was 10 times better.
girl10 (85hp) | The car was dropped off today. Eissenman Race Quad arrived at the store yesterday. Made the exhaust, Dinan and a few other choice changes. It should be ready next week. Happy Thanksgiving for me!
10121988 (792hp) | Good! What do you have in Dinan ??

samoa1 (68hp) | Quote: Originally posted by tmac99 Nice!

0923 (592hp) | At what stage is the Dinan software?
freeatlast (677hp) | Quote: Posted by tmac99 What stage does Dinan software take?
Slavo (627hp) | It looks awesome. so step 1 takes you to 495 hp? It's great.
112112112 (113hp) | post an escape video when you get the chance. I would like to hear what it sounds like.
tardisode (115hp) | Yes, Dinan Stage 1 gives you 496 hp and 580 torque, the rest of the stages seem to be incremental hp improvements of around 10-20 hp and really no torque, so I think it's more of a improved mapping for better answer I guess. Anyway, I think stage 1 should be fine for a first stage, but I would like to hear the opinion of all Dinan owners of stage 2 or 3..

260978 (336hp) | Rarely. I found the 8 gears a bit odd for downshifting. You have to downshift at least 2 gears to feel the kick. Using sport mode already makes the car sportier.
blazeit420 (28hp) | I also have mixed feelings. I love the look and feel of the paddles but their responsiveness is lacking. I use it almost daily but mainly to downshift a gear or, as previously mentioned, two gears to move up in revs when I need to. But when planning, I chose the sport and moved it by hand. Plus, in Sport or Sport+ mode, it's incredibly responsive in standard manual mode. When you drive aggressively, it seems to respond accordingly and keep the revs high. When you go backwards, so does it.

devin13 (59hp) | Rarely... too many gears to handle.
qwerty098 (682hp) | I still use the paddles to downshift in normal mode and to have fun driving in sport+ manual mode by pressing the brakes with my left foot and accelerating with my right foot. To try!
22051989 (547hp) | If I remember correctly, the paddle shifters cost $500. If so, I'd get it even if you use it occasionally. At this point, it's one of the items that you simply won't be able to add later (like an M Sport steering wheel). And this will increase the resale value of the car later. Cheers!
ana1234 (8hp) | I've had a 2013 535 6 speed manual for about 2 weeks now (the other car is a 330 5 speed) and while I really like it and don't really regret it - I will add that if you are in constant stop and go or city traffic mainly, get the auto or preferably the sat. The main reason is that you need your right hand to be free ALL THE TIME to operate the iDrive. In my E46 330 the only technology was my iPod plugged into the auxiliary port, all other buttons were also quickly accessible, which is not the case with modern BMWs. Plus, the extra transmission, more aggressive shifts, and better mileage than previous automatic transmissions all lean toward the sat/auto system..
shit22 (801hp) | I have the paddles on my '13 535xi...I've had the car for 1200 miles and have barely used them. I also have a 645cic which is a 6 speed manual. Using the Series 5 paddles is nothing like the feeling of rowing through the gears on my Series 6. I bought the car to be automatic since I already have a manual. If I didn't have the manual in my other car I might use them more..
poohbear09 (514hp) | I never use the paddle shifters. I think they feel uncomfortable. I like to slide the stick into the manual and use it like that. Putting the car in sport + mode and switching to manual mode with the lever is really comfortable when driving aggressively. Having owned a few manuals in the past, I've never been a fan of the paddle shifters..

godswill1 (670hp) | Quote: Originally posted by vdubturbo Rarely...too many gears to play with. Requires a bit of concentration, particularly if we car drivers are used to the relaxed approach to using Drive. I've just returned from driving through our local Glen in the 535i, with all functions set to sport. The chassis, sporty transmission and use of paddle shifters (SAT) in every shift are simply brilliant, making for a bit of fun driving. And tomorrow I'll probably be in normal mode, fully automatic mode, and just plod through traffic. For me, how do I want to drive today? Also, I use the paddles like others, just to get the right gear for a particular movement, usually one or two shifts down to get the correct RPM, then let it go back to full auto. HighlandPete

070483 (237hp) | I never used my old E60 535i sports package. Now on my new F10, I use 80% of the driving almost daily. I turned on the Eisenmann racing exhaust and it makes the sound fun and amazing using the shifter. It's definitely a lot noisier than automatic driving. Shifting up gives you more power + burst sound and downshift sounds even better with turbo lag. Once I get used to it, it's pretty easy, even if I drive a busy cloud every day. I also use it with my coffee in hand.

rhodes (271hp) | I use it for engine braking mainly on hills, but find it needs two adjustments to be effective. I'm disappointed that he came back to "D" so quickly".

soccer66 (449hp) | Quote: Originally posted by Gilgorm I use it for engine braking mainly on hills, but find it needs two adjustments to be effective. Once you move your shift knob to the left from position D, press your shift paddle minus once to get M1. Will never automatically go to D.

Thanks but I know the difference, but what I mean is that it automatically goes back to "D" too fast, i.e. before the car has finished to go down a hill, even if the revs are higher. According to my manual, high revs are supposed to prevent shifting. I expect this to change down the hill as the rpm drops. It's just the speed at which it changes that bothers me. Maybe it's just my car. I like the concept but not the execution.
