zouyong (58hp) I'm wondering if the new F10 LCI grill fits the pre-LCI. Does anyone know? I'm also curious if the black performance LCI grill is available yet or if anyone has the part number(s).).

keys (652hp) No difference between Pre and LCI grills.

manny13 (726hp) Except that the previous LCI has 12 slats and the LCI-M sports version has 12 slats 10.

topic (136hp) I think he asked about the fit...

120379 (712hp) I realized that, I just gave him some additional information.

pressure1 (296hp) Thanks! Since BMW released the performance parts for the F10 M5 LCI, do you know if BMW has also released performance parts for the F10 LCI? It took some time until the black grill was last available, now it should be quicker.

hood123 (990hp) Unfortunately I don't know when they will be available. If it fits, you could install the LCI M5 grill (without logo). I think someone on the forum has already done this.

damjanus (755hp) Quote: Originally written by Crocket. Unfortunately I don't know when they will be available. If it fits, you might consider installing the LCI M5 grill (without logo). I think someone on the forum has already done this. Yes, I also really like the M5 LCI dual slat grille, but as far as I know, removing the M5 emblem leaves a hole in one of the slats. I believe some (costly) changes are required to fix this. And keeping the M5 badge on a non-M5 car is not my style (wannabe). Viewed from the front, I also find the M5 LCI grill a bit too open, but it definitely looks better from the side. So the normal LCI grill will be enough for me as soon as it comes onto the market in glossy black. Thanks for the answer, guys.

I open the door just enough so it doesn't latch, go in just before the door starts to close on its own, and the soft close doors do the rest of the work. Not necessary, but there's something to talk about that will add a little more class. I just wish there was a way to close the trunk with the remote instead of pressing the button on the trunk. I think it's already there, right? Can't we close the trunk remotely if we have a convenience package??

EmPower (125hp) ^Maybe I'm just a little slow haha, but I've tried a dozen times and can't figure it out. I just got the car recently, so I haven't shut down all the devices yet. But I'll keep trying.

nairrr (690hp) Wow, who do you guys hang out with cavemen? I don't think I can remember anyone ever slamming a door. I love the soft close feature, there's something nice about the motor always pulling the door tightly shut on all doors. I also like it because my kids find it easier to get in and out, with other cars they sometimes have to close the door a few times. All in all, I would choose this option again without much thought.

amoldc (623hp) Purists aside, it's easier to be critical or say you don't need it when you don't have it. If you have soft close doors, it takes 5 minutes to learn, 10 minutes to appreciate, and you'll most likely want them in your next car.

I agree that the soft close doors are great and I would love them in all my cars. I have a LS460 that has them and my F10 has them, and an 02 Denali that doesn't have soft close doors, it's funny every time my wife comes on the Denali she has to open the door again and slam it, because she is used to the other cars, and I answer: Remember, this is an old car, you have to hit it like a caveman. But I love Denali! Any new car I buy and the option is available, I'm sure to get it!

4yfb2S753D (410hp) I drove my M3 today. (The lease runs for another two weeks before it goes back to BMW.) After using the soft-close doors in the F10, I had to re-open and close the doors every time I got into the E90. I love having them!

hamza1 (135hp) Didn't get them. The same applies to the electrically operated trunk. I'm completely fine with closing my doors and trunk myself and see no reason to spend money on something I don't need, especially given my priorities with other options. If you have money to burn, definitely treat yourself.

- (511hp) What's puzzling is that they couldn't close the trunk with the remote control. It may not be due to safety or fear of small children getting hurt. Mini vans have been doing this for years... plus the rear windows fold all the way down (instead of 3/4 down to protect the kids). So what is there!!! Very puzzling!!!

Avo2go (72hp) I have them and love them. I don't see any disadvantages to this option. It's called peace of mind that the doors always close the first time you close them. Most people getting into your car and unfamiliar with the F10 won't know how hard to pull or push the door, so it's handy that the doors close on the first shot.

fuckyou111 (461hp) My children love the soft closing doors. This won't completely prevent trapped fingers, but since they don't have to slam the doors, it gives them time to make sure everything is out of the way. I will definitely install it in my next car if available. Sean

freeuser (909hp) My 535 has them and I love them. Not a day went by that I didn't have to ask someone to close their door again. Everything is now a thing of the past. And if the sound of the door really irritates or distracts you, you may need to attend a few more rock 'n' roll concerts to recalibrate your hearing and stress levels.

01031995 (471hp) I'm not sure if the F10 5-Series soft close doors work the same as those on my wife's 2008 750i, but no one has mentioned one of the absolute best features of soft close doors...namely These doors can be opened to any desired degree and will remain in this position even when opened on a hill when the car is tilted to the right side. There are no preset catches like on doors without a soft close function. I'm curious if the F10 does this too... can anyone who has them comment? Thanks. PS: I'm disappointed that you can't even order soft-close doors on a 2012 535i anymore, even with the Premium package. They are now available exclusively for the 550i. hie (225hp) So yesterday I was on my break between work and school and I came across this: http://jalopnik.com/science-confirms...wor-1120783177 Personally, I think whoever wrote this should get a slap in the face . Making statements like, "We've long attacked BMW drivers for their terrible parking skills and general assholery" or "Basically, rich people tend to be idiots behind the wheel." Asshole sir, you clearly must be very uneducated, stupid and extremely ignorant . This was written entirely based on personal opinion. The fact that he even mentions research really makes me angry. It is impossible to classify drivers into good or bad categories based on their wealth. What are your thoughts or opinions??

However, unlike you, reading things like this doesn't bother me, I find them amusing. So BMW owners have a certain reputation, big deal. My advice: just embrace it and have fun with it. Think of it this way. These are expensive luxury vehicles. In my opinion, there are three types of BMW owners (often a mix of all three): 1. Owners with reasonable disposable income (successful/confident?). 2. Driving enthusiasts based on performance (so probably spirited driver?). 3. Owners who carry the prestige brand (status symbol?). Is it so unlikely that a person from one of the three groups mentioned above would appear confident (the line between confidence and arrogance is thin) and make you feel special? This, combined with above-average vehicle prices (and of course just old-fashioned randomness behind the wheel of a BMW), certainly contributes to the company's good reputation. I don't mind at all, in fact I always joke that I've always been a... but I just feel more comfortable owning one of these now.

140678 (973hp) I tend to agree that a high percentage of BMW drivers are arrogant whores!!!! Many Mercedes owners are older and therefore not that old. SUVs? I'm not sure this really counts as I find large SUVs to be just as bad in terms of claims, but most don't drive too aggressively. Young aggressive BMW drivers are bad. I'm constantly cut off by people who seem to have to prove that their modified car is superior. I don't care because the capacity of a machine doesn't define me. I suppose when you're young, your wheels define you. I understand it. You're the guy who had a penis painted on your car, right? I understand where you're coming from. When you are young, you have a nice car, and many may wonder why you have the right to drive a nice car that costs so much money. You'll attract guys who want to kick your ass just because of your car. Be careful. For my part, I try to be very considerate when driving a black F10 with tinted windows. It is the poster child of arrogance. I'm 55 years old and my car isn't in nightclubs or restaurants at 3am. But I assume someone will crack it one day. I do try to park it away, but usually some people come by and the parks close. As long as they don't mark the car, I think it's funny. I'm trying to reach an endgame and reach the opposite line. At least I reduce the occurrence of doorbells by 50%. Seems to work. As for the article, it's pretty accurate. But in reality, Type A personalities are more successful and want nice cars. When they are busy and in a hurry, they tend to coast through stops. This is my fault. Every five years I get pulled over, admit my mistake, tell the cop what I was thinking about, and about half the time they let me go. If not, I'll pay the price. my mistake.

ritter (5hp) Jalop is pretty useless since their writers are broke and have to lease cars with high interest rates that aren't that expensive and then write about it. I moved on a long time ago. I suggest you do the same. They are the Jezebel of the auto press world if that gives you any indication of how seriously they should take their opinions... I was banned from their website, their Facebook page and Twitter lol. They're a bunch of sensitive sissies.

dorian1 (260hp) I actually found this article funny... I laughed a lot about it. The simple fact is that people are people. The model car they drive can either boost their confidence or, in some cases, destroy their credibility on the street, but I think these assumptions or characteristics are best left to those who are easily swayed by public perception. I drive my DC2 like a hellhound collecting souls when it needs a boost or the competition is coming... I give them the gas and give them the beating they asked for, claiming the driver's soul in the process. I drive my DC2 F10 like a grown man in a well-paying job, with a family and an extra-wide double garage for parking. Arrogant, no, am I following the law, yes to the T (while driving the BMW), do I feel? a sense of entitlement, no, no one knows I own a BMW when I'm in my DC2, and they don't care... Am I a cocky sob, F'yeah, I'm Airborne, Air Assault, a Master Blaster , got some cool scare badges to put on my uniform, plus lots of dressing on my salad. Anyway, the only thing a Prius driver should feel is that I have my foot in the fourth point of contact (ass) from driving so slowly on the highway...but the article...was funny , the comments too...

success7 (485hp) So yesterday I was on my break between work and school and I came across this: http://jalopnik.com/science-confirms...wor-1120783177 Personally, I think whoever wrote this should get a slap in the face . What are your thoughts or opinions??

firebolt (984hp) Quote: Originally posted by Arko528 What are your thoughts or opinions? My thoughts? Jalopnik isn't Road and Track, it's little more than someone posting a thread like this on a forum. It's not journalism. Go ahead and keep going, Matt

Nirvana1 (447hp) One is a pack, the other is a liquid that forms into a pack. One is much cheaper than the other. I've heard all the @#$% like "Why put Plastidip on an $80,000 car?" or "Plastidip is so cheap and meant for Honda Civics and vinyl wrap is the only option for high end cars and The like." Additionally, I have seen members using Plastidip on their cars, bikes, etc. and it seems to hold up well and due to the liquid application, surfaces are much easier to cover compared to vinyl. I really want to sort this out, not just for myself but for the community. Why is vinyl so much better than Plastidip and for what reasons? Why do you think Plastidip is so cheap? Here's a video showing someone's Audi R8 V10 being plasticized in matte gray, and that's a car worth over $150,000. I'm not saying I'm a loyal Plastidip fan, I just want people's input. Post my friends away (but no fighting please)

babygirl45 (240hp) I guarantee you that when you approach this Audi, the paint will look about as classy as the price suggests. I think it's cool to plastipe areas of a car, but the whole car just doesn't seem to work. I'm also not a huge vinyl fan of the record, but I think the finish and overall shine should/would look more even than Plastidip. And if someone asks what color it is, they have to say Plasti-Dip. Talk about taking your car to the lowest depths.
