140980 (125hp) | Hello, I need your advice please. I have a BMW 528I - model 2013 with an output of 180 kW (245 hp) and a displacement of 1997 cc. I changed the timing belt and 2x nokkenas adjusters and 2x Regelklep, nokkenasregeling (I disconnected the battery all day for safe repairs). Now the car cranks but won't start. Can you help me? Can you give me some advice? Please thank

kaylee01 (596hp) | Hello guys, my car is a 2011 F10 530D without comfort access. I've been having a problem lately where I keep not being able to lock or unlock the car using the remote control. I ended up having to use the physical key a few times. I also noticed that the trunk open button doesn't work. The problem suddenly started a few weeks ago. The only mechanical changes recently made to the car were the installation of a new taillight as mine was cracked and the replacement of both headlight bulbs. I don't think it's a remote battery issue. I just replaced and tested it a few months ago. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? There are no warnings on the iDrive/dashboard and I can easily start and drive once I'm in the car. Thanks!
|
fargo1 (62hp) | Does this happen with both remote controls? As much as I'm tempted to believe that recent hardware changes could be the cause, I don't want to discount the possible remote control failure. Also changing the light bulbs is pretty rudimentary and I don't know why they affect the remote module. You may also have some type of cover that you use for the remote control?

Unfortunately I only have one key. The other was lost by the previous owner. I'm not sure if the mechanical changes caused this as, as you said, it's rudimentary and replacing the taillight was done by removing three screws and replacing the cable. My key is covered by my breakdown protection, but this only covers loss or theft.

120987 (294hp) | I think I've found the cause I never expected... I have two cell phones, an iPhone for work and my personal phone, a Google Pixel 8 Pro. When I have both phones with me the remote doesn't work 90% of the time, but when I have one of the phones it works the first time every time. So it looks like carrying both phones is causing me interference with the long distance signal being sent to the car. I'm not sure what to do about it, other than not having both phones with me, but when I go out it's usually a necessity.

andron (779hp) | Wow, this is a crazy find. Try turning off NFC on both devices and see if that changes anything. But I'm glad you found the problem..

diesel123 (432hp) | I would like to get some opinions from the group. My car is currently in the workshop for an unrelated issue and the advisor asked if I would like to keep it there to be able to carry out the recalls. I'm wondering if I should keep it there or wait a month or two before they go in and check the recall items. Will it matter in a few months with more miles? Also, my warranty expires in 200 miles. Is there any benefit to them doing this work while the car is still under warranty??

It is simply a preventive measure to ensure customer satisfaction while the car is still under warranty. You don't need to change it when the warranty is expired unless you have problems. A good charge with a Ctek charger every now and then will avoid most battery problems. They are cheap, easy to get (Amazon, etc.) and are used by BMW dealers worldwide.

It applies to all models and years and is not limited to N63. If you go to the M5 forums, people complain that the S63 is constantly having catastrophic failures. Trying to fix something and fixing something are two different things, and the customer has to pay for the repair. By the way, I'm still waiting for these statistics... Yes, sorry, I don't understand your point of view. Would you rather BMW just do nothing at all...? Complaining about bug fixes not meeting your expectations? How silly. Yes, BMW isn't particularly good at making V8 engines. What do you mean by that? My point is that you are acting like BMW is just trying to hide the problem. They are trying to fix the problem. Whether the fixes work or not is another matter, but they are really tedious. In addition, the customer does not always pay. If something fails within the warranty period, the customer probably won't have to pay for it. The CCP for the N63 is a great example of BMW paying for the repairs. It's easy to claim something as anecdotal evidence without providing any other evidence to support your claim. You've deviated from the original point I made - all 63 variations have problems, whether it's just the N, TU or S version - although some people believe that the TU version is the panacea for the problems. As someone who has owned both, I can assure you that this is not the case. Sun0000 (577hp) | Quote: Originally posted by ezaircon4jc I'm wondering if all or most of these outages are due to power supply changes... Back on topic. I also wonder if this is pure human error, as I mentioned earlier that a technician may not do the job properly and an owner may ignore an oil leak. As we know, improper priming when performing OFHG or not lubricating certain O-rings can cause problems. And how many people use the thin Mobil 1 5W-30 (A1/B1 - not LL01) in hot climates when the hot engine/turbo should use an A3/B3 (LL01) oil like the 5W-30 from Castrol (specific). (A3/B3 version) oil, Castrol 0W-30 (A3/B3) or all 0W-40 and 5W-40 oils. Of the dozen or so oils whose specifications I have compiled in a table, all LL01 oils are at least A3/B3. Additionally, there are many more 0W-40 and A3/B3 oil options on the market today compared to 2011 due to the trend in turbo engines of all brands. Therefore, market availability may have been another factor, as an independent repair shop in 2013 (or even today) may have used the oil that was/is readily available to them, even if it was not an A3/B3 or LL01 -Oil trades. The lesson is that there are many human (and non-human) error factors beyond engine design or manufacturing that can cause or contribute to engine failures. Are there certainly trends in design or manufacturing defects? But even a trend, say in a particular early year, could be explained solely by the availability of oil choice (not to mention the change interval), which does not mean that it is the case, but it may contribute to the trend. What's the point? Data and data analysis are fuzzy at best for many reasons. The causes are becoming murkier. Hopefully these threads will help owners at least learn a little better about what to look for when servicing, purchasing, or resolving a problem with their N55-equipped F10. By the way, a friend has an N55 535ix built in 10/2010 and has no problems whatsoever. At over 145,000 miles it runs strong. No mods.

pastis51 (27hp) | I received this warning a few times when I left the car outside for a few days (perhaps due to the current cold?) without driving my 2011 528. I don't see them when I leave the car in the garage and drive it every day.

millencolin (322hp) | Do you mean increased battery discharge when stationary? I only get this if I leave the car for several weeks. If it occurs every day, there is a short circuit, a loss of voltage, or the car cannot enter sleep mode for some reason.

mylene (544hp) | So it turns out they are my front door handles. Comfort access malfunction that drains the battery. I also need to get a new battery. BMW also blames the 6WB cluster because it is not available from the factory. Maybe I'll just reinstall the factory cluster and sell that one.

miami3 (658hp) | I don't do that. I always have the trickle charger handy. If I don't drive the car for two weeks, I charge it and never have any problems
