100606 (802hp) Yeah, I'm thinking now I might do the whole front end...looking at the place that takes care of all the dealership cars. I think about $420 for the complete bumper, headlight and fog lights. I have done headlights before as I mentioned...but the bumper assembly is way beyond what I would like to address..

notvalid (74hp) I opted for the M-Sport automatic transmission and I love it. PS - the single cup holder works well behind the gearbox for 4,500 miles in 6 weeks so far, there has been plenty of practice.

andrea05 (549hp) Quote: Originally posted by HighlandPete I would say there may be a problem with air loss from the system. Having owned an E39 touring for 4 years, the suspension should not normally sag, even if left for a few days. Mine only played when there was a problem with an air spring, aka an air leak. Come to think of it, I've never seen a vehicle touring a dealer's sales lot sitting on the bump stops. They sometimes have to sit for a few days, without starting. HighlandPete Yes, I agree. I just checked my car and it looks normal and this is after 10 hours in the work parking lot. Looking at this photo you're just posting manas, that's definitely not what my F11 looks like. It looks like a leak in the system according to Highlandpete's diagnosis..

totally (402hp) If you drive a lot and a lot on the highway, I'd say it's a good idea. Additionally, if the car is purchased and you plan to keep it for a while.

heather18 (63hp) Thanks Newstuart - this is the exact interior. It looks much nicer in a lighter photo. I think my mind is made up and MSport wins - I'll still work on the fleet to try and get the best of both worlds.!

mustanggt1 (684hp) Got the car back today...air pump had a leaking valve...Car looks normal again

thebmw (154hp) Quote: Posted by bobblehead If you do a lot of highway driving, I'd say it's a good idea. Also, if the car is purchased and you plan to keep it for a while. Yes to both. Especially the highway part. This car just wants to take the fast lane all the time...and that's where all the dirt gets kicked up. I can't help it.

anthonycky (370hp) Quote: Posted by mcquill I have an M Sport Sport Auto without a navigation system (Sat-Nag sits next to me). I love the Auto sport, but I like the look of the MSport. Since I've never had a built-in navigation system, I wouldn't miss it, but the functionality is superb. I think if it were me, and I didn't do a lot of stop/start driving, I'd opt for the M Sport manual. Either way, you get a great car. Navigation system As for the integrated satellite navigation system, even with them I still use my TomTom (at least for my E61) on the windshield due to their advantage over BMW's professional navigation system , - Speed camera warning - Touch screen (oh so quick and easy) - Maximum speed display (save a few squids on the additional option) - Often more precise routing - More POIs - Better layout of the screen (especially at complex intersections) The one and only thing built-in trumps TomTom is that, with the TomTom, I have to disassemble and hide the navigation unit, bracket and cables well before arrive at the parking lot, for fear of being caught hiding them. Problems every time! My brother borrowed my navigation system and didn't bother to take the bracket apart (it was more of a pathetic hook than a bracket) and ended up replacing the window and buying me a new navigation system. That's England for you.. *sigh*

anthony99 (980hp) Great!! Now we know that if this happens to us :-)

210893 (681hp) Put your zip code here, http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3.../Where_to_Buy/ Click the Venturesheild box and how far you are willing to travel. Call the establishments to find out how long they have been in business, what the warranty status is, and the different price points for exactly what you want done. Good luck.

mickey28 (171hp) The voice control inputs for the new Pro-nav are a huge plus and for me make touchscreens redundant. That and the full postcode/3D images mean I can just about justify the cost, plus the extra luxury/tech feel the big screen gives to the interior is considerable. Tom Tom nevertheless remains deeply impressive for the money!

Do you know what the difference is between Ventureshield and Scotchguard? Both say paint protection. I know Scotchgaurd is a 3M product, but I thought Ventureshield was too..

release (459hp) Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice on which direction to take when purchasing a new company car. The list has been made quite restrictive and the two options I want (pro nav and auto) are not available together. Options are (both 520d), color scheme is the same - Sophisto and Oyster/Black with anthracite wood. SE Auto with Business Nav M-Sport Manual with Pro Nav I currently have an E90 with Pro Nav and after sitting in an F10 in the SE spec above I was a little disappointed with the screen of navigation and surrounding plastics. BUT, I love the center console and I'm concerned that the manual gearbox version doesn't have nice cup holders/lid in front of the gear lever - is this still the case as I can't find a picture decent manual in sport spec to see what it looks like! This will be my first car and I'm gutted that I won't be able to get it with the professional navigation system. Can anyone help me with a decent picture of a manual shift center console or advice on whether sacrificing the flashy navigation system is worth it for the automatic? Thanks, rich.

stthomas (21hp) Quote: Posted by ghueser Thanks gatoman. Do you know what the difference is between Ventureshield and Scotchguard? Both say paint protection. I know Scotchgaurd is a 3M product, but I thought Ventureshield was too. Scotchguard was the original 3M film and the first version was $h*t. Venturesheild was a competing product, until 3M came forward with $66 billion and bought it out. I don't know if the two products are now the same or different, but I have a feeling that if 3M's product was so good, why did they feel the need to buy Venturesheild ?.

123iloveu (982hp) Oh man, that's a horrible choice. I have both and they are major assets that I wouldn't do without. If you're not yet accustomed to the joys of a good auto gearbox, you might not miss this as much as returning to professional media. Alternatively, I've heard that the new Audi A6 is getting great reviews and is available in June. Maybe you can find both there.

meandu1 (286hp) IMO the manual gearbox is a lot of fun in the 520d, but it really depends on your daily commute. Lots of traffic jams and hours of crawling bumper-to-bumper traffic? So definitely opt for the car. Plus, decide for yourself whether you prefer the M sports kit.

swordsman (99hp) Thanks for the answers. I don't do much with start/stop, so I guess sticking with manual would be OK - I love the functionality of the nav and currently have the M-Sport spec in carbon black, so I like the extra bits it gives. Can anyone take a photo of the transmission tunnel of an M-Sport with manual that might convince me to go this route. I looked at the new A6 as I had one - the navigation system appears to be a 'pop-up' version which looks like a Halfords refurbishment job! Also, I know BMWs have a family look, but Audi is now more than a joke! Rich.

DanHughes (599hp) Search my name in this forum. I posted a photo of the 550 M sport manual shifter. At the very bottom of the image you can see most of the cup holder. I don't know if it will be the same on a 520d

160383 (893hp) Quote: Originally posted by Mcquill Down with that sort of thing, nothing wrong with being open-minded. Without competition there would be little improvement in interior, build quality and pricing.

091191 (900hp) I'll ask Harry Hill to take care of the matter. Thanks ICALL, I think I found this photo last night and it didn't convince me, the console is as nice as the auto version - there is a lot less "trim" and the cup holders are open With the M kit -Sport and Pro Nav I guess I could live with it - someone next to me just got their F10 (yesterday, an SE automatic), so I'm about to try it Rich.

571632 (982hp) Quote: Originally posted by CAPSGOD Nothing wrong with being open-minded. Without competition, there would be little improvement in interior, build quality and pricing. Well said. I LOVE my 520d (even though it's a touring and looks like a hearse), but when it's time to renew, I won't let brand loyalty factor into it at all. I will go for the best car available for the price at that time. Given the evolution of the engine, it will be a 1.6diesel developing 240 hp. Okay, maybe not..

bmw (370hp) You had the same problem as you Beaky, M-sport 520d manual or SE 520d auto. In the end I decided on a 520d SE sports car with sports seats, anthracite dashboard inserts, sun protection glass, shadow line door surrounds, ambient lighting and a sports steering wheel. It came out a little cheaper than the M-sport and I'm very happy with it. Being a manual gearbox fan I was nervous about the auto but it's the sports auto that makes the car I absolutely love it it also gives you the option to adjust the feel steering and gearbox. IMO the F10 SE looks pretty good, not as much difference as between the E60 SE and M-sport.

tiffany6 (774hp) I'm a little confused now. If I order an F11 with HUD and production will be from week 10 or later, does this automatically include the black panel??? In other words: I only order the HUD and nothing else and it will be with Black Panel - no other extras needed???

yannis (569hp) From what I understand (after reading the new brochure) you have to select the optional extended instrument cluster (I think the code is 6WA) to get the black panel..

cvcvcv (547hp) If you click on HUD in the car configurator (provided the Danish one has been updated) it should also automatically select 6WA now, yes.

Why can I receive this information on my portable digital radio Ј20, but not on my BMW Ј42 000?????????

rubber1 (671hp) I'm trying to upgrade to a 5 series within my budget and have been offered a 528i on the BMWNA website with Jet Black and Leatherette, for which there is no additional cost. It's pretty easy to find the exterior color at the dealership, but the leatherette interior is impossible! Can forum members comment on the quality, comfort and appearance of leatherette seats? ??

fartfart (503hp) I had leatherette on my first 5 sets. It held up really well, you didn't have to worry about stains etc. Appearance wise it looked good, wasn't glaring. The only thing I caution you about is the resale value, but if you plan on keeping it, I say go for it..

lalaine (638hp) Faux leather is a fine, comfortable and durable material. It is very easy to clean, maintains its new appearance well and many people can't tell the difference just by looking at it. I've had leatherette in a Mercedes and now in my wife's VW - I believe BMW uses the exact same thing. It's just vinyl but it's very pretty and it wears better than leather..

chance3 (577hp) I ordered leatherette on my E60 and while it looks nice (much better than fabric), the material doesn't "breathe" like leather and you'll end up with a sweaty back after a long trip! In my experience the Mercedes system is much better.

09011990 (389hp) The reason you have a hard time finding it is that people who are willing to pay over 50k for a car will almost always want leather, so that's how dealers order them. What you want and see on the configurator and how the cars are ordered are usually two very different things. If you are determined to keep costs down, I would try ordering a simple one from the factory..

ilove$ (154hp) I had leatherette on my MINI Cooper for a few years. It's comfortable and feels like leather, however, you will feel a little hot on your back after walking a long distance, as the material doesn't really breathe..

mdynamics (206hp) I picked up my highly anticipated F10 today, a week earlier than originally planned and thought I would share my overall buying experience and first day review with everyone. SPECIFICATIONS • F10 520d M Sport • Carbon black • Black leather • Brushed aluminum trim • 19 351M rims • Sports auto gearbox • Black performance grilles • Professional media pack • Visibility pack • Electric front seats + driver memory • Split folding rear seats • Heated seats front • Rear heated seats • Electric glass sunroof • DAB radio • USB • Ext. folding mirrors • M rear spoiler • Sun protection glass • Model designation removed • Speed limit display • 5 year/60,000 mile service pack PHOTOS Apologies for the quality taken with the phone in a not ideal location DRIVING HOME AND FUEL USE Picked up the car in Maidstone and did the 215 mile drive to South Wales, about 200 miles of motorway and 15 miles of A roads and B, the average speed was 67 mph and the average fuel economy was 52.5 mpg. Really happy with this, it will definitely drop when I start using it around town etc. But if it stays above 45 mpg, I'll be very happy. The car had enough fuel to collect to get home, so she filled it to the brim when she got back and will look at the to the brim figure at the end of that tank. First time with a covered car, always had manuals before but fancied a change this time, thought it was nice and smooth, although it seemed a little slow on the kick for overtaking, but maybe it's just me. It should be faster than thinking, pressing the clutch, shifting and releasing the clutch, but you never notice that delay in a manual because you cause it. I haven't tried the paddles yet, but will do so on a lovely A road through mid Wales in the next few days. I liked the auto hold feature when waiting at lights. The ride was good and not too firm, I had previously tested a non-M sport model, but you noticed those temporary road buttons used to create lanes on highways through roadworks. I think it had more to do with the RFTs than the suspensions. Overall performance was ok, although it will be on a break-in regime, even though it is a company car I still don't want it in the garage causing me grief as I have beaten from day one. I would have loved a 530d or 535i, but I didn't want to pay the extra BIK company car tax and wanted a car with lots of toys. A colleague just received a rocket Jaguar saving Ј200/month for me. . So I'm very happy with my loaded 2.0 liter diesel gadget. TIRES After reading all the threads about the RFTs I'm still a little nervous about them, I now wish I hadn't gone for the 19er 351s but kept the standard tires. wheels, then bought 20 inch 356s as an accessory with non-RFTs. I'm seriously thinking about doing this when I burn out the rear tires in about 8 months, then I can buy just the wheels (I've seen them for about Ј1,850) and put the tires on my company credit card. GADGETS The kids tried the heated rear seats and are very happy, good points for Dad for ordering them. Additionally, the DVD player with professional media pack will be very useful when you.

tigers69 (495hp) Excellent writing. The car looks great with very similar options specs to mine. I think you'll find that after a little time with the auto, you'll still have a hard time buying the manual. I swore I would always drive manuals for control, then came iPod connectivity, sat nav, built in Bluetooth..... ...I have way too many other things to do without having to moving metal cogs now on 4th car in a row with automatic transmission

melanie! (785hp) Thank you for your message! My Black Beauty will arrive shortly :-) I have almost the same characteristics. Could you say more about the tires? I also opted for the 19 M351...should I go for the standard?

14021994 (142hp) Great review and nice car. The kickdown is a little slow in normal mode, but much faster in sport/sport+. Enjoy it.

applepie12 (299hp) Andy, congratulations. Your car is beautiful. How did the “Arden” experience go? Were you happy with how the car was delivered and how the paintwork was presented? You mentioned the paint was swirl free, if you had any bad experiences with BMW dealers before.?

malone1 (584hp) Great – looks really tidy. I agree with Northern Monkey - the cars are just awesome - I've always driven manual cars, but my girlfriend has a car - since driving hers I've been spoiled so I have bought my F10 with a sports car and I love it. Appreciate. Cheers ...

Also, most small tire stores take days or weeks to get them... But the bottom line really was that things were a little different and given the fit/look of the 20 range, I would have liked to go in that direction. Arden was very good, the only minor complaint (probably because it's a small showroom) was that when I arrived at the dealership my car was not in a collection area of the showroom . It was parked in a row in the parking lot. It's always nice to have that special treatment. It's a bit childish, but when you feel the excitement of a new car, you like to maximize it. Dazzler (357hp) Great article and fantastic car. Big specs too. I have the E60 version almost exactly the same specs and am considering an upgrade, so hearing someone else's experience is great. But I understand what you mean about the wheels. The 19 spider alloys on my car look huge, like they're popping the arches, but the 19 on the new one doesn't look that big. The dealer fit 20 doesn't really look huge either. I don't know what the answer is. Stu.

jonw (671hp) I picked up my highly anticipated F10 today, a week earlier than originally planned and thought I would share my overall buying experience and first day review with everyone. SPECIFICATIONS • F10 520d M Sport • Carbon black • Black leather • Brushed aluminum trim • 19 351M rims • Sports auto gearbox • Black performance grilles • Professional media pack • Visibility pack • Electric front seats + driver memory • Split folding rear seats • Heated seats front • Rear heated seats • Electric glass sunroof • DAB radio • USB • Ext. folding mirrors • M rear spoiler • Sun protection glass • Model designation removed • Speed limit display • 5 year/60,000 mile service pack PHOTOS Apologies for the quality taken with the phone in a not ideal location DRIVING HOME AND FUEL USE Picked up the car in Maidstone and made the 215 mile drive to the South Country Wales, approximately 200 miles of motorway and 15 miles of A and B roads, average speed was 67 mph and average fuel consumption was 52.5 mpg. Additionally, the DVD player with professional media pack will be very useful when you.

gunshot (581hp) Excellent writing.

252526 (273hp) Great summary...enjoy. It looks great inside and out. How do you find the steering compared to your previous 3... too light or just right?

kurt (887hp) Thank you for your message! My Black Beauty will arrive shortly :-) I have almost the same characteristics. Could you say more about the tires? I also opted for the 19 M351...should I go for the standard?

241190 (844hp) Great review and nice car. The kickdown is a little slow in normal mode, but much faster in sport/sport+. Enjoy it.

cet333333 (233hp) Andy, congratulations. Your car is beautiful. How did the “Arden” experience go? Were you happy with how the car was delivered and how the paintwork was presented? You mentioned the paint was swirl free, if you had any bad experiences with BMW dealers before.?

darkshadow (578hp) Great – looks really tidy. I agree with Northern Monkey - the cars are just awesome - I've always driven manual cars, but my girlfriend has a car - since driving hers I've been spoiled so I have bought my F10 with a sports car and I love it. Appreciate. Cheers ...

cool21 (361hp) Great car, congratulations! I was also thinking about the black performance grille and your photos convinced me!

Perfect for me, also helped by the thick sports steering wheel. I'm still trying to get used to the overall size of the car, it seems massive compared to the 3

I also opted for the 19 M351...should I have opted for the standard? I've spoken to a few people who have had punctures/bubbles (potholes) with RFTs, especially with pressure monitors, and then uncertainty about what to do when you're at 200 miles from home. Also, most small tire stores take days or weeks to get them... But the bottom line really was that things were a little different and given the fit/look of the 20 range, I would have liked to go in that direction. I could have saved 1300 ВЈ on the 351, I bought 356s for around 2500 ВЈ and sold the 18 on eBay to make back the difference..

I haven't had any paint issues before and the car was fine, but after reading so many posts I thought I would put a marker in sooner. I asked them to put original chrome grilles in the trunk. Since the black ones were props, I should be able to keep the originals. They forgot and I forgot so they publish them to me.

It's not childish at all, this will be my first BMW, so I was hoping to get the showroom experience too, but it will be what it will be. My ultimate goal is to one day get my car back from the factory in Germany. I can also ask them to talk about painting. I had a horrible experience once where I picked up a new car and it looked like someone had gone over it with a sponge. I almost cried.

sanpedro (627hp) Hi Andy, what an article, very impressive....and a great car. Appreciate !

25021985 (134hp) Great article and fantastic car. Big specs too. I have the E60 version almost exactly the same specs and am considering an upgrade, so hearing someone else's experience is great. inspiron1 (323hp) Hi everyone, I ordered the following car in January: F10 530d Sophistograu Nappa Oyster/Schwarz Exclusive line Sport auto Adaptive drive ...and a large number of other options Because in Belgium, there is no lots of 6 cylinders sold (almost all leasing cars are 520d because of taxes...) Belgian dealers don't have many 'production slots' for 6 cylinders and because of that, I will have to wait until the end of May to take delivery of my long awaited new machine... Anyway, maybe it's not such a bad thing because it allowed me to recently added the 610 (HUD) and 6WA (Extended black panel) option to my order My question is: - Has anyone ever taken delivery of a car built in March with these options? Is the extended black panel the version like the 5GT where you don't see the needle and numbers in the dial until the ignition is turned on? And what about that HUD? Is this indeed a colored version, and if so, what is your opinion compared to the previous version (which I didn't like in the test model I drove). - Does anyone have a March build car with the 6NR option? What are the differences between a car with and without this option? Thank you for your answers!

loverz1 (537hp) I'm sure it's too early for US deliveries of March models, but I'd like to know the same thing. I've been told that HUD won't be the new color Europe is getting, but no one seems to know much about it, so I'm holding out a microgram of hope. 6WA should however arrive with 6NR. I have a March 18th release coming, so that will be...

betty21 (918hp) I ordered an F10 and also took the 6WA option. Delivery should be around week 13 I was told. So 2 weeks of waiting and I can take my car for delivery :-)! It should be the same as in the 5GT.

BMW269 (321hp) US Spec Build Week 13 (March 21) with 6NR, 6WA and HUD. Delivery expected here in Germany around April 1st. I'll let you know if no one else does.

mizio970 (758hp) I ordered a 525d f11 with HUD and 6Wa, build week 10, delivery week 13. I will let you know if it has the black panel and color HUD as soon as I receive it.
