zhangqiang (228hp) | Just picked up my 2014 528i. Seems like a rocket to me after driving an F150 4x4 for the last 9 years. Now my 300hp truck feels like it's stuck in the mud compared to the BMW. I opted for a very well equipped 528, instead of a base 535, but I'm sure I would appreciate the extra HP if I could have afforded it..

poiu1234 (913hp) | I currently own a 2011 528i with a 6 cylinder engine. At first, I was hesitant to opt for the 6, because I had always had the 8 cylinder. engines. I was very pleased not only with the performance, but also with the incredible gas mileage (25/32). Now I'm looking at a new 2014 528i that has every option except ceramic buttons and night vision. I'm concerned about the 4 cylinder, but after driving it I tend to go for it. My dealer currently quoted me a dealer invoice ($62,915 including Moca, training and destination) on the car and gave me a lease payment of $640/month, 36 months with 36,000 miles (with 5,000 $ deposit). This price is all inclusive, taxes, labels, etc. How do I know if I got the wholesale price, minus $2,500.00 rebates ($1,000 Loyalty, $500 Lease Contribution, and $1,000 Ultimate Drive) without having to guess wrong what if I ask the dealer? Your help will be appreciated. Quote: Originally posted by Bmwlvr60 Just pulled the trigger on a 2014 528xi M sport. 6-8 weeks for delivery. To be clear, the $2,000 in credits came from BMW NA, so the dealership still made a reasonable profit IMHO. This was my second purchase from them in less than a year, I save money, they make money, I count this as a win, a win. They will receive a retainer of approximately $1,200 and monthly/quarterly and weekly incentives from BMW NA. Additionally, doc/office fees are another source of income for them. Heated front seats, SAT, power rear sunshade with manual side blinds, HK surround sound. Yes, I know many of you hungry for automotive power wouldn't have bought a 4 cylinder car. You need something more powerful, this is important for you to be happy in your driving experience. More power to you – pun intended. You also want more torque – great. I have been driving an X3 with a 4 cylinder engine for about 8 months. It has more power/torque than I wanted. More horsepower/torque would mean I would get more speeding tickets. Seriously, I'm extremely happy with the X3's performance. I've tested the 535 and 528 several times over the past few months. I tested them at the dealership and also took my friend's wheels for rides. The inline 6 was definitely fun and faster, but every time I drove the inline 4 I was never disappointed. For me, it doesn’t feel like I’m giving up everything I want. What I get is a great car that achieves incredible MPG for its class/type. I seriously considered buying the diesel version, and it achieves even higher MPG, but for all the options I would add, the price has become quite high. I thought about buying a leftover from 2013, but couldn't find one with the color/options I wanted. Guys, (any regular ladies here?) I've driven mostly Japanese cars for many years, so from a performance standpoint I'm thrilled every time I drive a Bimmer..

The general manager of my local BMW dealership gave me the dealership's investigation report. It says "Wholesale (invoice) in the first column and MSRP in the second column." However, this also works: multiply the base MSRP by 0.92. Multiply all MSRP options by 0.91. Add destination and handling fees. Find out what MACO is ($300 in New Jersey) and $180 training. For all numbers, increase or decrease to the nearest $5. Even if you don't, you'll only lose about $20. There you have the invoice amount. Also be wary of reseller add-ons. paperwork and other fees could be completed.

deangelo (489hp) | I started a new thread, but since this one is about the positive changes for 2014: here is my guess based on the 2013 BMW brochure for my 2013 X3. Same audio system or quite similar because here is how it is described: The Premium high fidelity system is a 16-speaker multi-channel system that reproduces the reproduction of surround information contained in the stereo signal in a nine-channel format (seven midrange and treble). full-range channels and two center bass channels) as well as 5.1 surround sound from a DVD source. Includes a 600 watt amplifier with nine channels. The system compensates for rolling noise in gentle steps and speed-dependent equalization. The 16 speakers are equipped with very powerful but compact neodymium motors. The B&O sound system is not available for the X3, so they are promoting the Premium Sound System (HK) as an upgrade. Since the B&O audio system is available on the 5 Series, BMW doesn't even bother to mention the mid-sound option in the 2013 brochure: HK.

Thanks, I consider myself an audiophile so I had to get this to not have that lingering feeling. I plan to keep the car for a while, so I splurged. From everything I've read, there isn't a huge difference in the price of B&O and I don't recommend it over other options. (For me it was the last check in the options list) EDIT: I do agree though that the HK upgrade on this car from the base stereo model in the US for the price is worth it hardly, unless you modify yourself with a custom system.

Since the B&O audio system is available on the 5 Series, BMW doesn't even bother to mention the mid-sound option in the 2013 brochure: HK.
|
baghdad (744hp) | Quote: Posted by Bmwlvr60 Yes, I saw that. I'm sure the reason is that B&O is not available as an upgrade on these models. It's available on the 5 Series, so the brochure and website don't even bother to mention the medium sound option: HK. I wish you many years of listening pleasure with your B&O system! Thanks, I consider myself an audiophile so I had to get this to not have that lingering feeling. I plan to keep the car for a while, so I splurged. From everything I've read, there isn't a huge difference in the price of B&O and I don't recommend it over other options. (For me it was the last check in the options list) EDIT: I do agree though that the HK upgrade on this car from the base stereo model in the US for the price is worth it hardly, unless you modify yourself with a custom system.

conan1 (382hp) | I am looking for clarification on the function/behavior of the headlights of my car (ActiveHybrid 5 2013). I spent time in daylight and darkness, shining my lights into a window trying to figure this out. From the attached diagram: - 1 and 3 are corona lights and these are set as DRL so always on, regardless of the light switch position - 2 would be the main headlight which turns on lights up automatically depending on position A of the headlight switch, or alternatively via the low beam. the headlight position on the -2 switch also gets brighter once I use the steering wheel stalk to flash or alternately turn on the high beams. - I have no idea what the 4 is for. Nothing I've done so far seems to illuminate them. Looking through the manual (RTFM!) these appear to be cornering lights, but after googling etc I still have no idea what they are for, although it seems to be something related to the lighting on the sides of the car when turning, etc. Does this all depend on what package I have (e.g. adaptive/headlight projection control, etc.?). Thanks if anyone can shed some light on this. (unintended pun!!).

sunnydays (606hp) | Interior lighting is part of the adaptive headlight function. If the lighting control is set to automatic and you turn a corner, the interior lighting adjacent to the corner turns on and enlarges the illuminated area on the side you are turning toward. I have to say I haven't noticed them working so far, but I'm going to try turning the steering wheel from a stop first and see if that activates them. Could it be that the melodic sound you hear comes from a Bluetooth device that loses its connection when you open the driver's door? So the sound may be coming from the internal speakers due to your b/t connection being cut. What do you think?

ara123 (273hp) | I just noticed that when I parked behind a black truck, my headlights were on (and yes, it was the middle of the afternoon, with no clouds and lots of sunshine). I looked at the switch and made sure it was in the Auto position, which it was. I scrolled through the vehicle settings to see that something had been changed, but the only items relating to the headlights were the off delay and the daytime running lights on/off selection. I have no idea where the light sensor is to see if a spider or fly has died there and is giving a false reading to the sensor. Do you have any other ideas than taking it to the dealership?
|
natnat1 (307hp) | My automatic headlight does the same thing, it comes on a lot brighter than my other cars. This is probably another case of BMW engineers being too cautious.
|

station3 (761hp) | The owner's manual states that: Quote: Blue skies with the sun low on the horizon can cause the lights to come on. So I suspect this will happen more frequently in the fall than in the summer. And my F10 turns on the lights much quicker (from the DRL) than many other cars when visibility is poor. I find that reassuring.

177177 (658hp) | This has constantly frustrated me over all the years I've had a BMW with this feature. My car without xenon has its headlights on as part of the drl, which is ridiculous. I treat the auto position on the switch as .off. Then flick to the sides to turn on the rings almost every time I see the green lights on the dash during the day when I know the headlights aren't needed. It's clumsily too sensitive and even more so for cars equipped with halogens..
|
112244 (320hp) | To be honest, I don't understand why people find this frustrating. This should err on the side of safety, if they didn't arrive when it was dark that would be a good reason to complain. I really don't see any downside to this, other than a very slight theoretical increase in fuel consumption. just leave it on auto mode and forget about it. I haven't manually changed mine yet to where I thought the lights should be on, but the car thought otherwise.

What color would it be? Not black...I want to get a trunk spoiler and I think it would be nice to be that color. Do you agree? What color is it? THANKS! The color of the diffuser is called Shadow Gray. I would paint your spoiler to match your body color, unless you like the carbon fiber look and go that route..

seymour1 (561hp) | The other day I was turning around and only using my left hand to turn the steering wheel. As I crossed the street, the engine was not accelerating the car at all. Completely dead with the accelerator fully pressed to the floor. I had accidentally pressed the speed limit button on the steering wheel during the U-turn. Very embarrassing

galina9181 (371hp) | My car (535i) did the same thing when it was a month old. So scary, then stuck at the intersection with traffic ahead! I see very serious problems and major lawsuits against BMW.!
