27011987 (299hp) | I don't like how they softened the lines next to the grills. And this new line seems very random. I think they should have continued all the way to the kidneys. Overall it's meh, like every other BMW under Van Hooydonk.

ellarose (24hp) | bravo =)

single13 (911hp) | I think too many Bimmer fans will continue to sell the Caddy shorts just out of elitism. I'm not a Cadillac fan by any means. Especially in the body design department (one of the ugliest models on the road, IMO). However, I will give credit where credit is due. Over the past few years, Cadillac has made giant strides. And as several articles I've read comparing the latest ATS to our beloved 3er point out, Detroit wins over Bavaria. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test If BMW continues to favor luxury over performance, as we're seeing it more and more, AND Cadillac is coming the other way and putting a little more fit and finish into their designs (and hopefully a complete body redesign), we might see a new leader by the end of the decade. And I have to say that maybe I'm not that sad about it. I love BMWs, I really do. But I still say bravo Cadillac. It was about time! Keep up the good work.

green1234 (324hp) | Thanks Jason for the new thread. I think this LCI will freshen up the look, and I hope to retain the natural character and emotion that the car brought to the public in 2010. When it debuted, we thought it was a winner. Imagine this 2014 simply tweaking the car, not reinventing the look. I have a feeling that better seats, steering wheel in the base car would greatly help sales. Handling can always be improved. If they add more sport to the car, it's a win-win for the brand.

batman666 (104hp) | I love the look of the new CTS front and sides, but I hate that long tail light they put in all their cars. As someone mentioned about the weather, there are some American cars worth looking at again. Alan

cubs1908 (865hp) | No view yet on the LCI m-sport?
250182 (658hp) | It's not that random. They added this line from the headlights to the grille because they want a better transition to the next 5 Series model, which will most likely have the headlight-to-grille connection feature now seen on all new models..
841010 (682hp) | Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your first BMW. I'm sure you'll be delighted with your new 5 when it arrives. Don't worry about the Oyster/Black interior, it looks great and is much easier to clean than you think.
12011987 (270hp) | Impressive and I love it for what it is. The interior looks cheap and American enough that my tastes I know would never be interested in it. The numbers are impressive, but they will apparently not only retain the current 3.6 N/A for the mid-range model, but they will also bring a 4 banger for the lower volume model. The TT V6 will be the 550i of the group. As for what the numbers mean to me...not much since I never bought my cars for statistical numbers, I buy them for a holistic experience. As for the design, I really like it...for a Cadillac. It looks cleaner and more resolved than the current one. The greenhouse and most of it looks like an ATS, which gives it a sort of basic/homogenized look, but again, given that the Caddys have been too difficult and clunky, it's quite welcome . Although they added a lot of attempts to try to compensate for that. It looks like a Benz, mostly an E-Class, because Mercedes itself is now trying to look like the most complex and unresolved automaker itself... even though I think it's actually a better design than what Mercedes offers..

This is much better than Audi, as a built to order A5 would have taken over 5 months. to arrive. The service I have received from Specialist Cars has, so far, been exemplary. Before purchasing I drove a few F10s on a varied test route of around 20 miles which included some surfaces. rough, urban roads, dual carriageways, etc. After reading so many reviews and negative reports regarding the combination of runflat tires and M sport suspension I was surprised by how smooth the ride was. The first car I drove was an M Sport (9,000 miles old) on 19-inch wheels, followed by an SE (3,000 miles old) on optional 18-inch wheels and standard suspension. Both were 520D automobiles. The first impression of the M Sport was how well controlled the ride was. Potholes and undulations in the road were dealt with quickly and efficiently, with no signs of tramlining. The ride was firm rather than harsh, and certainly much more comfortable than my own car (2009 Honda Accord). I expected the SE to be even softer, but I was surprised to find very little difference in firmness between it and the M Sport. The SE had a tendency to wallow when changing direction and the suspension seemed unable to control the large wheels/tires (245 front, 275 rear) over rough surfaces. I suspect the 17 would perform better with standard suspension due to the reduced unsprung weight. Overall, the M Sport was much more comfortable than the SE and felt much more stable on the road. I had planned to order the VDC as an option or delete the M Sport suspension, but found no need for it. I guess it all comes down to personal opinion, but I found the M Sport suspension and 19-inch run-flat tires to be a more capable setup than the Mercedes E-Class Coupe or Audi A5 S Line I had recently tested. The 8 speed car was also a revelation after the Audi Multitronic deal and even the 7 speed Mercedes offering wasn't as sharp as the BMW transmission. I opted for the rearview camera because, combined with the mirrors that lower to show the curb when reversing, it proved very useful in the Accord. I'm still a little wary of the light-colored interior, but it makes such a difference to the atmosphere that I decided to focus on the practical side. The Ambient Lighting pack looks like a bargain at €220 and, although I initially had reservations about the chrome inserts in the exterior handles, I've since seen a few 5 white ones and they don't look too bad. I'm really looking forward to becoming a BMW owner and hope the reliability will be equal to..

simba01 (158hp) | The 420 hp is the VSport version which is supposed to rival the 550i M-Sport (as if the M-Sport package means anything). The CTS-V will have a supercharged V8 in the 610-650 hp range and will compete with the M5. Rumors say there will be launch control that would also actively level the rear of the car to get it off the ground to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds..

03101979 (724hp) | I was seriously considering the new CTS when shopping for my next car, especially after reading the twin-turbo V6 rumors that surfaced last fall. It's really a beautiful car. Kudos to Caddy for the design. However, I just read that the TTV6 will only be offered in RWD version. For me, all-wheel drive was mandatory and exceeded 400 horsepower. No post-purchase dissonance here in my 550i purchase! Now I just have to wait for the Dutch government to complete the registration process. My car has been sitting at the dealership for two weeks waiting for documents from the Dutch authorities. How can it take 2-4 weeks to register a car in an industrialized country? I have lived in India and Russia and even those corrupt governments could achieve this in a few days.!

101178 (459hp) | Certainly nothing worth delaying an order for. The only interesting revelation is the confirmation of what we all know. This BMW has been lying, fudging and lying about power ever since it reintroduced turbocharging. Terry Burger finally put a stock N63 on his dyno and it produced more power and torque than expected. I trust his numbers because of his extensive work on the n54 and n55. This dates back to 2006/07 when BMW gave the new 335i sedan to Car and Driver for the time and they were shooting sub 4.5 seconds 0-60 times, so they decided to put the car on a test bench and discovered that it did more than 40 more. power than that announced. The automotive press concluded that BMW did not want to poach its M range.

mikolaj (76hp) | I'm very surprised that 5 Series owners would consider a Cadillac. Yes, I agree, they are better than before, but they are still made in Detroit by the UAW. You know, those assholes who told the American public not to buy a car made on Monday or Friday. I tested an ATS a few weeks ago - not bad, but comparing it to a Bimmer is a long shot. I also have to say that my local Caddy dealership is the stereotype of a New Jersey dealership that sells cars made in Detroit. I would never buy there - quite embarrassing. I was there for 10 minutes and none of the non-professionals offered to help me..

I look forward to when you need to upgrade this radio software. I'm not trying to be an asshole, but I've had bad experiences with Cadillac, and so has everyone around me. 111181 (477hp) | The pre-LCI seems better in the opinion of this architect. The extra crease between the headlights and grille looks horrible and too difficult. The upper 2/3 of the front facade should have been left alone. Lower third on LCI is OK. The front of the LCI looks gloomy. It's now an incoherent jumble of ideas with a whiff of this idea and a whiff of that idea that is completely unrelated. This is the worst front end design of a BMW in BMW's current lineup. I might look at an Audi A7 because it's so bad.

caesar (750hp) | BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW 5 Series LCI Facelift spied again and first look at the F1050 plug-in hybridCOMMENTSTweet !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],if(!d.getElementById (id)){js=d.createElement(s),js.id=id,js.src='https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js',fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs) , }}(document,'script','twitter-wjs'), We've spied the upcoming LCI facelift update 5 Series again, and the sighting takes place on the first plug-in hybrid 5 Series we've spotted . The LCI update will modernize the entire 5 Series range, including the F10 sedan, F11 touring, F07 GT and F10 M5, although the styling updates don't seem too drastic. See also: Previous F10 5 Series LCI Spy Photos EXTERIOR The F10 LCI prototypes spotted so far featured slightly sportier side mirrors, with integrated turn signals (still camouflaged on previous prototypes seen). Some LCI prototypes have been spotted with a new option of optional LED headlights with square angel eyes/corona rings. The standard xenon headlights (as spotted on this prototype) will retain circular angel eyes. The taillight graphics will receive a new look. The front and rear bumpers will also receive styling updates. We can already distinguish one of the biggest styling changes in the front end: a new character line appears between the upper part of the grilles and the area just above the headlights, which should give the headlight area/ grille a more aggressive appearance. The aerodynamic parts of the M Sport package should also receive a slight refresh, as well as the F10's optional M Performance accessory parts. POWERTRAIN The updated F10 5 Series will address one of the F10's main problems: poor steering. The F10's steering has been redesigned to be more communicative. The changes will also apply to touring and GT models. 535i models could receive the turbocharged inline-6 engine that will replace the current N55 and is expected to debut in the F32 4 Series Coupe. Expect 550i models to be powered by the upgraded N63Tu V8 (the upgrade update of the N63 engine) which recently appeared in the F07 550i GT and which offers +45 hp / +30 lb-ft of torque compared to the N63 engine. PLUG-IN HYBRID This sighting represents our first look at a 5 Series plug-in hybrid prototype. In 2011, BMW revealed an F10 plug-in hybrid prototype at the Shanghai Auto Show. Its production was planned for 2013 and only for the Chinese market. It remains to be seen whether it will be offered for the rest of the world at some point. Plug-in hybrids work the same as the standard hybrid vehicle. They are also equipped with an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors. But unlike standard hybrid cars, plug-in hybrids get most of their power from the electric motor, which plays the primary role, while the internal combustion engine plays the backup role. The plug-in hybrid requires a power outlet to charge the battery to full capacity. However, when the battery becomes low, the internal combustion engine kicks in and takes over, recharging the battery at the same time. When the battery is depleted, the plug-in hybrid begins to act like a conventional hybrid, with the combustion engine acting as the primary power source. TIMELINE We have information that production of the F10 LCI will begin in July 2013, with deliveries beginning in August/September 2013. F10 M5 The F10 M5 is expected to benefit from the same lighting updates (headlights, taillights and can -be indicators integrated into its rear-view mirror), : '96%',

norfolk (113hp) | BIMMERPOST NEWSClear Look at BMW's 2014 F10 LCI 5 Series Facelift Photoshoot112COMMENTSTweet !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],if(!d.getElementById(id)){ js=d.createElement(s),js.id=id,js.src='https: //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js',fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs),}}(document ,'script','twitter-wjs'), The first uncovered LCI F10 5 Series facelift/update was spotted last week, but it was captured in photos of less than ideal quality. Our new spy photos, taken during an official BMW photoshoot, give us a clear look at the front of the F10 LCI. What is confirmed once again is that the styling updates are rather minor. Overall, the F10 LCI's styling changes give the 5 Series a more updated and sportier appearance. The 2014 5 Series gets sleeker, sportier headlights, optional LED headlights with square angel eyes/corona rings (as equipped on this model). The front bumper also received updates via new creases extending from the inner corners at the top of both headlights, a redesigned lower front bumper with new trim, and grilles with a curvature/crease. Additionally, the strong line extending from the inside of the headlights to the bottom of the front bumper has been softened/removed on the LCI model. The new chrome trim in the lower front bumper may or may not indicate that the 5 Series will receive different styling to the F30 3 Series. Mechanically, the F10 LCI will receive reworked steering and the 550i will be equipped with the more powerful N63Tu engine (445 hp / 480 lb-ft). Production of the F10 LCI began in July 2013, with deliveries beginning in August/September 2013. UPDATED WITH COVER IMAGE FROM AUTOZEITUNG MAGAZINE. Maybe just a rendering based on the latest spy photos. The lower bumper lip doesn't fully reflect the change seen on the latest F10 LCI spied. Compare to current 5 Series:

When it debuted, we thought it was a winner. Imagine this 2014 simply tweaking the car, not reinventing the look. I have a feeling that better seats, steering wheel in the base car would greatly help sales. Handling can always be improved. If they add more sport to the car, it's a win-win for the brand.

jasper23 (470hp) | It will take some getting used to. But it looks good
evial_marina (609hp) | No view yet on the LCI m-sport?
henry (358hp) | It's not that random. They added this line from the headlights to the grille because they want a better transition to the next 5 Series model, which will most likely have the headlight-to-grille connection feature now seen on all new models..
070775 (896hp) | I wonder how will they improve their greatness.
qazplm123 (879hp) | Wow, pre-LCI looks much cleaner and for me personally it's 10 times better.

kimberly13 (492hp) | Quote: Posted by ALPINA B5 I wonder how will they improve their greatness. Aesthetically, I can't really improve it. I still think the F10 is the most beautiful in the category. Mechanically I'm sure there are a few things to fix, mainly the steering system for those who have tested the F10 and find it too soft or whatever..

ENZO 3 (124hp) | the bumper is ugly.

Maybe they would also introduce pipe sounds for the N20.
trey123 (46hp) | It looks good! Better than today's car.
testbox (666hp) | A hybrid plugin option means this will likely carry over to the 3er as well. Very interesting!
love73 (434hp) | I like this update, much more aggressive (well deserved)
temidayo (862hp) | Quote: Originally posted by SamS A hybrid plugin option means this will likely carry over to the 3er as well. Very interesting! Indeed. FWIW given the tailpipe setup I expect the hybrid plugin to be N26 based. Which would be great if it could reach AT-PZEV and qualify for access to California's carpool lane. A PHEV will need to have a much larger electric motor than the ActiveHybrid if it is to have any chance of delivering a BMW experience while using electric power. This should close the performance gap between the N20 and the N55..
habibi1 (656hp) | It now looks more like the F30. Great...one more car that looks the same in the BMW fleet. For non-BMW enthusiasts, it's becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate their cars by appearance (not as bad as Audi though). The E60, E90, E87 and E65/66 all looked unique at the time.
theatpatel (162hp) | You say plug-in hybrid. I say more weight. Once again, I commend BMW for not letting ego get in the way of recognizing that the F10's steering is not good..
barbie08 (785hp) | I like it. He looks much more aggressive. I hope they come out with the new Msport.

And a hybrid plugin for MY2014 F10 and (maybe) MY2015 F30h would be a great introduction to the i3 which will arrive in about a year..

220673 (354hp) | Is it just the camouflage, or does that grill look huge ??
branca (91hp) | BMW prob encourages people to opt for a performance package with performance kits at extra cost

Once again, I applaud BMW for not letting ego get in the way of recognizing that the F10's steering isn't good. This will be greatly appreciated by the California market where electric cars are already quite widespread and access to the carpool lane is a big problem. I would expect a Series 5 plugin to still beat its competitors (e.g. Prius and C-Max Energi) in terms of sportiness

230394 (232hp) | Is it just me or have the headlights just gotten smaller? I don't like it so far. IMO the headlights are currently the perfect size. Smaller headlights make it look too stupid.
cry (141hp) | Certainly nothing worth delaying an order for. This dates back to 2006/07 when BMW gave the then new 335i sedan to Car and Driver and they were shooting sub 4.5 seconds 0-60 times so they decided to put the car on a test bench and discovered that it did more than 40 more. power than that announced. The automotive press concluded that BMW did not want to poach its M range.
abcdefghijk (54hp) | 445 the hp for the 550i are cool. This must be close to the e60 m5 if not better.
enforcer (246hp) | It might be worth the wait because they can really fix this direction..
maria24 (200hp) | The pre LCI looks much better in my opinion. The update is not proportional and feels cheap.

rowley (103hp) | Quote: Originally posted by luvthestck Might be worth the wait because they can really fix this direction. I get an xi. Best value option in BMW history! Lol
eddie69 (101hp) | I like the sharper headlights but the new bumper is ugly. BMW's L-ife C-ycle I-mpulse looks more like a midlife crisis
notice (553hp) | I just received my 5 not long ago, I hope there won't be much difference for the facelift.
thechickenwlng (698hp) | I think the small changes are nice so pre-LCI owners don't feel like their car is obsolete. I would be upset if I bought a car for 55,000 euros that becomes visually obsolete after 3 years.
tony.m6 (525hp) | I hope they add fake sounds through the speakers to make it sound like a V engine12..
argentina1 (899hp) | I think the LCI doesn't look bad and as someone already pointed out it needs some time to get used to it.

trailer1 (507hp) | Quote: Originally posted by misterbeemer I hope they add fake sounds through the speakers to make it sound like a V12 engine. lullaby

nokia6131 (523hp) | I don't like the larger gap between the headlights and the hood. This gives the impression that the hood is not completely closed. I like the lower bumper more than the current version (minus a smiley look), but still not as much as the M Sport bumper. I'm glad I ordered a 2013....even without the TU engine.
purple08 (913hp) | Maybe it's just an impression (still too much camouflage), but it seems like there's a lot more black inside the xenon headlights than in the current F10 (black instead of gray).?)
199771 (731hp) | Well, I admit that BMW's LED headlights don't look as good as Audi's LED headlights, in fact they look like halogens....
branko (175hp) | This car is a winner for BMW – I don't see many changes happening. Some light touch-ups here and there. I wonder if the M5 will get any upgrades like seats, steering wheel, etc...
molly22 (875hp) | The pre-LCI seems better in the opinion of this architect.

291186 (788hp) | I changed mine at about 3,500 miles over the Christmas holiday. The car was delivered in September 2012 and I thought after the break-in I would do it. I changed the oil myself and it wasn't too much of a problem, other than I had lowered the car a bit on H&R Springs and hadn't yet invested in a low profile jack ( I have since found Harbor Freight and it's great!). I have owned several BMWs before so I recommend using or at least reading the Old School Service Guide [by Miller] from Roundel/Bimmer magazines. This will save you a lot of time and pain and then money later. As for the oil change...it certainly can't hurt my friend.

Make sure the engine is warm to the touch when you change the oil. Hot oil flows faster. Additionally, you will need exactly 6.5 liters of oil. Simply pour 6.25 quarts first, drive until the oil level shows, then fill accordingly..

Interestingly enough, the owner's manual does not list any fluid capacities except fuel and headlight washer/windshield washer fluid! I guess BMW trusts the owners to handle these two

Understood, but you'll never be able to drain all 6.9 quarts from your engine. 6.25 to 6.5 quarts should be fine for a refill.
