Sorry, I find your lamentations totally absurd and ridiculous. Are you making an adjustment because next year's model has more updated features than yours??? So depriving new owners of the best possible equipment would somehow help you feel better? I find this astonishing. If anything, I'm excited that BMW is implementing new technology as soon as possible instead of waiting for a facelift or major model year change. This is the best way to follow or stay ahead of your competitor.

|
Skyline (495hp) | The question is not if, but when and what. A 5 Series diesel will come to the United States, but it's unclear which version. I imagine they'll release a RWD version first to gauge interest, then if it performs well or better than expected, they'll open the variety up to a possible X-Drive version..

mick (502hp) | AFAIK, all X machines are built in the USA. But I'm very disappointed as to why Americans aren't promoting low emissions, higher mpg diesel machines and are only interested in gas guzzler gasoline models? For example. New York's yellow cab, the Ford Crown Victoria gets just 12 mpg while London's LTI TX4 gets around 41 mpg...
|
god12345 (896hp) | The majority of Americans are just environmental pigs.
|
myprincess (121hp) | Rather, most Americans use $ as a proxy for everything. Since diesel is a little more expensive than gasoline and gasoline is more popular (hence higher resale), there is no financial incentive to go diesel - so most people simply chose with their wallets. The obsessively fuel-economy-conscious public doesn't have much overlap with auto enthusiasts — most of them end up with hybrids..
|
chicano (503hp) | Here in the UK, and probably most of Western Europe, we fortunately have a tax system which encourages low emission vehicles, both company cars and personal vehicles. I hope to be able to collect my F11 520D next week (two months late, but that's another story...). It really was a no-brainer financially, it would have cost me a fortune to opt for a bigger engine, petrol or diesel. Since I'm not a particularly fast driver, I just loaded up on toys. I have to say I suspect that if we had the same tax system in the UK as the US, both on fuel (the vast majority of fuel cost here is tax) and road tax /on company cars, then I'm sure a large petrol and diesel engine would be more popular here (although I'm not saying that's a good thing by the way!). It would be nice if more of the taxes collected were actually put back into road maintenance, as seems to be the case in Germany..
|
furball1 (105hp) | Oh...don't tell me about the roads...you feel sick after the recent heavy snow seeing the huge amount of potholes. In general, Scottish roads suck! sameer123 (428hp) | I was just wondering if anyone had any information or photos of this option, 4M8, individual reading lights for the rear seats. 300 Ј, and even more here in Norway, for reading lights seems quite expensive.

HPG2N89qif (397hp) | If they look and work like mine, it's definitely not worth the money, IMO. The light is lousy and it doesn't look very nice - the light assembly looks like the one in front. The light falls more toward the center of the seat, so you need to keep your gear in the center. Mine is a 2011 F10 with the anthracite lining.

friends15 (513hp) | I'm glad I didn't bother ordering these in my F10 520D, they look pretty crappy. Mine should be delivered mid-January 2011.

Mine is a 2011 F10 with the charcoal liner. It looks like standard reading lights. I don't know if this option is available in the US.

stan (597hp) | They are adjustable in all directions and a little brighter (I think), that's the difference!

erica123 (1hp) | It costs 300 Ј?!?!?!? What a scam!

SEXY (663hp) | Quote: Posted by gorban I think the individual lights are located towards the roof handle bar, closer to the door. I know the lights are near the rear doors on the F11, at least with the panoramic sunroof, but I'm guessing it's in the middle on the F11.10.
