Lisa (213hp) Hmmm...ok..so I'll do that with the company..the good news is that you 2 BMW are closer than me..I mean in Germany..the bad news from your answer is that it happens there Germany 2..and you have no idea what's happening...so who the hell is going to give the solution and the equations????The lead BMW engineer! No respect for him at all..if you can't remember a sentence of 4 wheels in a damn straight line! Zig Zah, you say. Exactly what happens on the highways. It just zigs and zags. I just don't have time to enjoy the comfort of this car when I drive. It's stationary and doesn't move. I can enjoy it. But isn't this a sad situation? I don't know what 2 say. Justs Prayin BMW is reading all this and helping F10 owners out of their misery! Thanks for your answers @blackhawk and @delvek

frazier (763hp) So yes. Has anyone on the forum solved the right dragging or zigzag problem? I read that some people made the problem worse when they took it to the dealer. So what to do? Keep waiting for the solution (there is one so far) or take the car and pray they know what they are doing. I'm very sure, after all it could be the perfect car... and you can't go faster than 100 mph...

I really believe it could be the perfect car after all... and you can't go faster than 100 mph... +1 and I hope people don't just learn to live with it. It is unacceptable.

prateek (189hp) I'm currently learning to deal with it until I can dispose of the BMW F10 528I BULLCRAP MACHINE. And go to trusted brands like Te Mercedes or Ford. Never again in my life, BMW bull! @#$ Engine works

sk8123 (520hp) Try this experiment... If your problem is pulling to the right, have someone with a lot of mass sit on the other side (passenger side) - does the car still pull? I noticed that the car is much straighter when I have a passenger on the other side than when I'm driving alone. Isn't it a fundamental mechanic that load distribution influences the handling of a car? What happens if all the people are on one side of the boat? It tips over. If one assumes that a car should drive perfectly straight with only the driver (= uneven load distribution), one assumes that the car is "biased" in terms of load distribution to drive straightest with only the driver ...

If one assumes that a car should drive perfectly straight with only the driver (=uneven load distribution), one assumes that the car is "biased" in terms of load distribution to drive straightest with only the driver. .. Load distribution, alignment, computer controls, tire pulling, bent parts, etc. can cause pulling. Additionally, the road crown typically causes most vehicles to drift to the right. The question here is what is the cause of the problem??

01071980 (957hp) I'm so glad I held off on buying an F11. I have a 3 series that drives perfectly straight, the steering is perfectly balanced and the car is completely predictable, I never have to think about the steering. It wasn't always like this... Removing the runflats solved the problem. So I'll stay tuned until we know what's going on here. I can't bear to get involved in known and unresolved problems. I've been there before with two other cars and in my opinion it's just not worth it. By the way, isn't there a forum member who got a new luggage rack after visiting BMW and ZF? ZF said it was fine, but the gauge installed the new steering rack. I seem to remember solved problems. I wonder what the latest is on this particular car? HighlandPete

fussel (802hp) My need to constantly correct the steering was solved with a new steering rack (I suspect perhaps a software upgrade too) as after the work was done 4000 miles ago my car drives exactly as it should - safely and straight in line ( not asking too much, I know). N16E PS - my mistake was that the steering was jerky and didn't drift to the left.

toby10 (816hp) Wow, I'm overwhelmed. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a 550i and thought I had completely beaten the mod bug, but your posts are getting me going again. What kind of wheels are these? Beautiful!

dakoda1 (148hp) Let's take a look at some updated images!

528guy (368hp) Could you buy M5 for the money you got for these 550+ mods? I know it won't replace the personal touch and expression with this 550 and I totally love the look, but hey, the m5 has a different feel + you put an M emblem on the back, replacing the 550 . M do you want to be? I have a 550 myself and dream of the M series. Coming soon

galinkaru (905hp) If you want to make it really easy, just lift it off the roof and work on it. Just hold it with double-sided tape, that's all. There is a DIY YouTube video from a member in the DIY section of the forum, search for it there.

M do you want to be? I have a 550 myself and dream of the M series. Coming soon Well, at this point there is no turning back, so M5 would be out of the question. I can currently get a used M5 for a pretty cheap price, but I started the project so I'll finish it, but that's the fun and joy of modifying your own car. As for the M emblem, it's just a personal touch, I don't want to be an M5 or anything, however I would NOT put an M5 emblem on my car after I complete the M5 front end conversion. That would look disgusting..

chicago12 (19hp) Looks really good!

jesusito (803hp) Finally everything is coming together, most of the brackets and spacers I ordered from BMW were not used as my supported Msport front end is the same as the M5. I wish I had known this, it would save me a lot of time and money. Anyway, here is the update. Fun... Unpainted OEM M5 bumper... Now comes the fun part, the disassembly... ......went for a beer! I will update the final image tomorrow.

At one point a couple of sprinklers hit my rear trunk lid and the water pooled on the deck at the rear edge (the trunk lid has a lip that prevents it from draining when parked) and with the hard water from being so cold it was a bit around the lines to erase what remained after the sun came out and dried the water. lolcats (522hp) Thanks again for all the information about the 535i! How about the diesel? They're pretty cheap and I like the thought of torque. Are they pretty decent? It seems there isn't much information about their long-term reliability in the 5 Series.

240388 (922hp) I had a 535i while my buddy has a 535d. It drove pretty well. Not much diesel noise. Most importantly, the average city fuel economy was over 30 mpg and the range on a full tank was around 600 miles. While my 535i got 14 mpg in the same city, it got 250 miles on a full tank. Not to mention that diesel here cost less than regular 87s. Basically it was at least half the fuel cost of diesel. So yes. If I had to choose again, it would definitely be diesel.

shangrila (566hp) I've had a 535d xdrive '16 since September and my mileage largely matches the numbers given in the previous post. In fact, at highway speeds under 75 mph, I get between 38 and 39 mpg. City driving is over 34 (but that's mostly suburban driving). When it comes to performance, the numbers favor the 535i, but the difference may be hard to tell when comparing low-end torque. This is my third diesel and I wouldn't go back to a petrol engine in a hurry. Finding a 535d wasn't easy. Relatively few on Autotrader and even fewer with low mileage and the options I was looking for. I searched for almost seven months until I found one that met most of my needs. Good luck in your search and I believe you will like the vehicle.

hottie19 (311hp) Thanks guys! Have any of you made any of the common mods? How to delete EGR or DPF with a tune?

ardan (116hp) In general, there are good reasons why vehicles are sold as is. While I understand that mods can improve performance, I also know that many of them lead to unintended problems. For example, it may seem tempting to lower a vehicle, but suddenly it can easily be damaged when driving up the driveway.

For example, it may seem tempting to lower a vehicle, but suddenly it can easily be damaged when driving up the driveway. I completely agree and personally tend to keep things stock. But apparently these diesel engines suffer from some problems to compensate for the enormous EPA standards. In particular, EGR typically causes a huge carbon buildup in the intake manifold, and that apparently can't be fixed with a simple walnut shell explosion from an Indy (read, the dealer has to do that). The particle filter and the urea system also have major problems. and in the 335D world many are removing these elements and achieving greater reliability. I would be all for reliability...performance is good but almost useless in the US...I haven't read anything about how the F10 535D performs here in the US but I love the idea of diesel power and Driving behavior.

That's why I looked on this site for a possible second car in a few years... and aimed the E90 more towards the track. PS: The car is fun on the track! Thanks! Are the deletions expensive or difficult to complete? I would have it done by a repair shop along with a tune up to make sure the ECU is happy. I don't know if I need the extra power, I just don't want to get stranded or have carbon problems or urea crystallization problems... (away from home on a road trip with wife and baby)....)

thug101 (310hp) I'm about to drive 70,000 miles on my 2014 535d and have had two issues with my ownership. The evaporator for the air conditioning (nothing to do with the diesel) and the EGR valve had to be replaced for a few hundred. Otherwise no problems at all.

The most important players include JR, BPC, Malone to BMW diesel tuning in the USA. I chose McChip-Dkr because the tuner is located near me and at a friend's house. They also have experience with commercial diesel engines and Mclarens, Porsches, AMG etc. They are based in Germany. I also have it tuned on the dyno, as opposed to an off-the-shelf unit that the others offer. I like the idea of being tailored to ensure everything works well. Cost, bare bones, you can get away with a stage 1 tune and a new downpipe to clear your DPF. Your SCR (where the pee is sprayed on) you can either gut it (open it up and take the stuff out, weld it back together) or just replace your exhaust. On the F10 I'm not sure, but on the E90 everything is 1 piece so I can't just replace with a midpipe, it would require a catback (on the new downpipe) to avoid changing the OE exhaust. You can program the EGR valve to stay closed so that no exhaust gases actually enter your intake, and/or you can simply add small baffle plates to your EGR to prevent exhaust gases from flowing into your intake. Price, I'm not sure how similar the Euro spec is to the US, but the e90 US has SCR (and DEF tanks), the Euro doesn't. Because of this, there aren't many cars around here, so the parts are a bit pricey, but hey, it's a BMW. but if it's the same as Euro 535d parts might be more readily available and cheaper. 400-600 for a downpipe, 800-1500 for a catback (if desired), cored SCR you would pay just for the labor. 800-1400 for a 3k-4k would cover the job in my opinion, but I also consider it preventive maintenance because you are literally eliminating your common child problems. while better performance, better mpg. Plus I see almost no reason not to go for the performance upgrade, the new Alpina D5s makes the following numbers: With 388 hp and 800 Newton meters of torque, so I say grab the stars! Again, not a diesel expert or anything, still a new owner, 1.5 years and first time owning a diesel, but that's basically what I was weighing up when looking to purchase. I would also recommend not touching the car until your warranty is up so that you also have time to create a rainy day/wiping fund for the car. Once my car hit the 70k mark I had it wiped/tuned. And if you don't already know, diesel engines are typically more valuable and tend to run longer than gasoline engines.

mydaddy1 (852hp) You were super helpful. I really appreciate it!

jakers1 (757hp) Spitifire, your stalling and urea concerns could be addressed on the X5 forum as this vehicle has the same engine as the 535d and is far more common. With a larger number of users, these issues, if any issues at all, might have been discussed.

perdana (987hp) I have a 2015 European 530d, the same car as the North American 535d. I like it - it's fast, powerful and economical. But the only reason I drive it is because gas is $6 a gallon here. If not, I wouldn't even consider a diesel and would go for the 535i. It's just better.

diedie1 (148hp) Good luck finding what you want. I've been looking for an M-Sport with a non-black interior for under $35,000 for almost three months

24091987 (802hp) I searched for six months and found a certified example 600 miles from home. Good examples that were not painted black seemed to sell quickly. Multicontour seats weren't that common, even in the M Sport trim.

birds (779hp) I got a CPO '14 in '16 and no problems other than a camera malfunction. I bought it because I drive 70 miles a day, but after owning it I would absolutely buy another one. The instant power is great. I had a 535i loaner and it didn't work for me like the D did. I was happy to get my car back. I also have ACS springs on it and love those too. For the first time I lowered a car and didn't regret it later, haha. It really rides better than the original, not just firmer.

Summer11 (762hp) I had the opportunity to compare the 2-litre diesel and petrol versions of the X3 when I was provided with a petrol-powered loaner car. Let us know what you think about the diesel's instantaneous performance. Even though the diesel version isn't as quick from 0 to 60, it feels more powerful and quicker, especially in city traffic. I was happy to get my car back after the service. I haven't had a chance to compare my 535d to the 535i, but you seem to like the former.

rahima (338hp) Would you buy a '14 with about 75,000 miles? Hey, check out this car I found on Cars.com: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...ff=share_other

I grew up in Europe and even back then we refused to buy diesel cars. Given the low gas prices, I definitely wouldn't consider one in the US. There was a 535d that the dealer gave a much bigger discount on when I bought my 535i and I passed and always will pass. The MSRP was 72,000 and I turned it down for $59,000. I still have the build sheet somewhere. No regrets.

rebelde123 (51hp) I would always choose the diesel version, mainly because of the lower fuel costs and greater torque. It really depends on how you drive. If you like to rev it up, get the gaser and enjoy frequent refills. There is no comparison to older diesel engines, except perhaps the 2005-2006 MB E320 CDI which was great. At 100,000 miles the petrol engines start to use a lot, while the diesels are just starting to break in. PL

word12 (49hp) So what are the actual experiences and costs of the diesel additive? What happens if one goes out? Can you run out? How many miles does it last? Isn't there also the problem that the diesel is really only suitable for long distances and not so good for driving mainly in the city??

kaylynn (881hp) Thanks again for all the information about the 535i! How about the diesel? They're pretty cheap and I like the thought of torque. Are they pretty decent? It seems there isn't much information about their long-term reliability in the 5 Series.

llamnber (461hp) I had a 535i while my buddy has a 535d.
