151076 (842hp) Wishbone replaced, I never felt any difference with the car suspension, according to the dealer the service check picks up this problem, while they just replace the lower wishbone under warranty, this seems like a problem to me known by BMW since it is replaced under warranty. Very satisfied with the way my dealer handled this problem, for me it has always been the priority, apparently this problem is common hence a fault with the original part. I am sure to change my summer tires for normal ones, the difference in comfort I feel with my normal winter tires is obvious to me, I will probably go for Michelin, any advice to people on what is best for non run flat tires on Irish roads?

Dan335 (361hp) Quote: Posted by Martin Mustang Do you drive with Run Flat tires? I'm standard 18 and my current run flat set is definitely the latter, on my previous E60 with 19 inch the car was more comfortable. The car came with Dunlops Run Flats when I bought it. The 2 front tires were damaged a month and a half after owning the car, they are now quite expensive flower pots in my garden. I replaced them with NRF tires and couldn't believe the difference in comfort, so I'm considering replacing the rear tires for nft before they're even worn out! My previous car was an e60 msport with 19 wheels, puncture proof tires and I never had any comfort issues, potholes, noise, punctures or wheel damage. !

Is the combination of normal front and rear runflat recommended? won't this impact/accelerate tire wear...., I was under the impression that you couldn't mix the 2. I need to change my rear tires , so push for another month, before going back on my winter set and a new set of normal summer tires after next winter, i.e. change the front and rear.

iloveamber (707hp) I don't see any reason why tire mixing would be a problem. My original set of RFTs on standard M-sport 18 rims needed to be replaced after 12,000 miles. I now always drive with non-RFT Michelin PSS for 40,000 km. I don't think I will return to RFT.

Don't worry Martin, the way my wife drives will change my rear tires soon.

angela (615hp) Quote: Originally posted by martin mustang I'm shocked to hear that my 2011 F10 lower wishbone arm needs to be replaced under warranty of course this was picked up after routine servicing, not even the 2nd servicing apparently BMW is aware of a problem with the wishbones. . The roads here in the west of Ireland aren't the greatest, but coming from London it's not much different, occasional potholes and all. , on top of that, my winter tires are normal, so my car runs on Run Flat tires for only 8 months out of 12, and 95% of the time I'm in Comfort mode, and it's a 520d, so not rocket performance to put pressure on this part of the suspension. This must be a fault of the new double wishbone front axle system introduced with the F10. Have any of you experienced the same thing? Go check out the technical documents someone recently posted. You will see that parts of the aluminum triangle have been replaced with steel. Presumably the aluminum parts of the triangle had failed. Steel was used to increase strength at the expense of weight.

jacque1 (677hp) In what year were they replaced by steel?

20121988 (795hp) Hello guys. I'm super happy with my new 535i (new to me anyway). It is Sophisto Gray over Black and comes with the M Sport Premium 1 Premium 2 Sport automatic transmission with Paddle Shift Convenience Package. Now the only thing I'm thinking of changing is the RIMS. I thought I loved the 351 rims and even posted on this forum how to get them in case I couldn't land a car with the M Sports package, but now that I have them I'm not sure . I love them. It's funny how things change so quickly. Anyway, I'm leaning more towards something darker (like gunmetal maybe?), so I was wondering what suggestions you could give me. Thanks, p.s. I will post pictures of my new car soon!

13171317 (473hp) Does anyone have any idea what the following means? I'm looking at a 2011 F10 535i and the only red flag is that its carfax says it's over the mechanical limit. This was a rental car, so my first thought was that perhaps the renter had tampered with the odometer. But then I looked at when this was reported and it was literally within the first month of the car's history. 6/21 Car clears US customs after being shipped from Germany 6/25 Serviced and offered for sale 7/29 First reported owner EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS TITLE ISSUED Titled or registered as personal rental vehicle 10/29 Serviced at 4,501 miles This almost looks like the car's title was marked when purchased. 30011983 (295hp) My car is on its way to me now but there's something I can't figure out. I built this car exactly how I wanted it, but something seems strange. Since the LCI 528s don't come with leather and I don't want a premium package because it's not worth $2600 to me (as opposed to $1500 on 535, probably because of the standard leather on the 335), how did I get the upgrade to Nappa? There are no surcharges on my dealer build report for leather nor on this car on my My BMW account. Everything simply says LZMW Mocha Nappa Leather with Black Dash - N/C. When I built a '13 528 m-sport I had to add leather, nappa as well as luxury seats which all had to be paid for. Is it just that M-sport is all leather? Or is it something else? 528-xdrive Alpine White/Moca Nappa/Light Fine Wood ZMM- M-sport ZCW - Cold Weather ZDA - Driver Assistance ZLP - Lighting Package ZLS - Luxury Seating Package 337 - M Sport Package 415(6) - Sun visor 4U1 - 688 Ceramic Orders - Hong Kong

21011997 (585hp) BMWNA has decided to offer the Mocha Nappa option for free on certain cars. I'm not sure if it was the M Sport Package or the Luxury Seating Package or both, but something about your configuration allows leather as a no-cost option. I checked your version on the configurator and you have a very expensive 528 even with the free leather. I think this leather pack is being highlighted because BMW is proud of it and wants to put a lot of it on the street. This might not happen if they charge full price on top of all the other options most people order. It's about competing with other manufacturers, many of whom don't offer as many expensive options..

kimberly11 (593hp) So, I picked up my baby from the dealership after being torpedoed by a lady driving a Citroën Rouge… first road trip on the highway and like a Scud missile, I see a stone coming towards me from the other lane of the highway - nowhere to go with a wall on one side and another car I passed in the other lane, this stone hits the dead center of the windshield, just above the speaker central. My passenger saw it too, and he raised his arms, because we both thought it was happening… BAM!!! The loudest, most sickening sound next to another vehicle hitting yours. F'n rock put a coin sized pattern of damage (cracks) on the inside of the glass. The strange thing is that the glass is smooth to the touch both on the outside and inside of the glass - but since I have a HUD I think that means a total replacement. I just can't catch a break lately! Add this accident to the hail damage to the car before I took delivery and I'm starting to think my baby is in bad shape....

x2x2x2 (771hp) It's just crazy bad luck. This really sucks, I hope everything works out for your baby.

My passenger saw it too, and he raised his arms, because we both thought he was passing… BAM!!! Add this accident to the hail damage to the car before I took delivery and I'm starting to think my baby is in bad shape....

savitri (606hp) It's just crazy bad luck. This really sucks, I hope everything works out for your baby.

amavis (391hp) Does anyone ever drive a 2014 550i? If so, what type of mileage do you do? All I've heard is that it gets better mileage than the 2013, despite the extra 45 horsepower. Mine left Bremerhaven yesterday and I should receive it via MOE, but I'm curious what kind of MPG I can expect.

160590 (910hp) What did they do different for 2014 for the 550i engine. Is this a totally new engine or is it just a software/turbo tweak to get more power and torque ??

32 (462hp) 2014 has the newer N63Tu engine featuring BMW valvetronic (variable valve timing) and probably runs a little harder to make more power. There are a lot of n63tu's on the market in 6er cars, but I don't know if anyone has changed boost/fuel metering over the previous n.63.

111169 (294hp) I upgraded from a 2011 535i and averaged 20.0 mpg overall. I'm now in a 2013 650i GC and averaging 17.5 mpg so far. So a success of 12.5%. Applying the 12.5% at 16 mpg gets you back to 14 mpg. So 13-14 mpg would be an approximation for a 550i in your case.

191282 (595hp) Good, KA. I think your perceptions about "steering changes" are probably accurate, as the steering rack is probably exactly the same (or an interation, with minor changes that still need to accommodate the other old components) but with modifications software instead. These are “changes of direction” which they praise. The steering was updated after the first year through a software update - reviews indicated it was slightly heavier in normal mode - perhaps to correct complaints of wandering/drifting to the right/left . I didn't like this change, so I didn't bring it in to be updated. Now if it's lighter again (+ what other changes they may have made), I find that ironic. Anyway, great review, saves you the hassle of trying it yourself!

1234432 (136hp) Thanks, Grimlock. Yeah, that makes sense. For the record, I guess the LCI steering may be heavier than the pre-LCI base suspension, but I think the steering got a bit heavier with the addition of the M suspension on the pre-LCI cars , or at least heavier. with the launch of the 2013 models (I've only driven a 2013 M Sport so far). Therefore, I consider the LCI steering to be perhaps slightly less heavy than my M suspension car. Now what I'm REALLY interested in is the feel of the steering when connected to the M LCI suspension lower and stiffer (when we finally get them here in several months), as I suppose that might stiffen it up a bit, because it will. be a perfect comparison with my car M suspension 2013.
