meghana (679hp) | Does anyone know anyone who sells them or who makes them? I searched the forums a bit for regional sections but couldn't find anything. Is it still a consideration to put the stickers on the rear windows? I had it on my E90 335i and loved every minute of it haha

duke3d (351hp) | I had an X5 behind me that seemed to have the same system. And I looked at that too. It seemed to work quite well for me. The main headlights are switched on under bridges, in tunnels and when the sun is low. In the low sun, visibility in my rearview mirror was really poor, so it seemed right to me that the headlights were on. On longer journeys in the shade and in a valley where the low sun did not reach, the lights switched back to daytime running lights. I don't know where the sensor is located, but most sensors of this type are located in front of the rearview mirror.
|
pokey1 (861hp) | +1 for the same problem. I have DLR on all the time, but noticed that the automatic headlight option seems to work in full, normal daylight. This is pretty random. This leads me to suspect that there is a bug in the sensor software.

cicciobello (236hp) | Quote: Originally posted by Soon ExAudi Guy The same applies here. Ditto. I noticed this on a long car ride on Saturday, bright sunshine, clear sky, the headlights stayed on even after 9:30am (sunrise around 7:30am) until I just turned the damn switch off.

update (798hp) | Quote: Originally posted by eripers I don't know where the sensor is located, but most sensors of this type are in front of the rearview mirror. According to the manual, the sensors on the mirror are only used to operate the mirror. I also experienced this on my E92 because I blocked the front sensor to make it think it was darker than it actually was (to darken the mirror) and that had no effect on the automatic headlights.
|
07051982 (21hp) | The sensors for the mirror are located on the front and back of the mirror. The camera for high beam assist and lane departure warning is located in the area where the mirror is attached to the screen, and I think that would also be the logical place for this sensor in my opinion. To test this, you should cover this part of the windshield. I can't test it and am desperately waiting for my arrival next week :-)
|
indus (865hp) | I tested the sensor for the lights. It is the larger circular area on the rearview bracket. I had the daytime running lights turned on in iDrive. 1. Switch off DRL in iDrive (remove check mark). 2. Set the light switch to A. 3. Cover the larger sensor area and see the headlights light up. Now it works for me !
|
27051978 (966hp) | Maybe this isn't an issue, but does your sat nav switch to night mode when the headlights are on? I notice that the sky on the satnav gets dark when I drive through a tunnel during the day. I was just wondering if your headlights are on but the sky is blue on your navigation system. Then it's not your sensor that's wrong, but the programming.

Maybe that's why the camera isn't as sensitive as the sensor.

I spoke to a senior engineer and he mentioned that the sensitivity can be adjusted through programming. He plugged in my car to check mine and confirmed that it is already set to high sensitivity! qaywsx123 (710hp) | Quote: Originally written by Soon ExAudi Guy. In Canada, daytime running lights are mandatory and are fulfilled by the corona rings. The full headlights do not have to be switched on. On most cars, the headlights are running at half power or the LED driving lights are activated, etc. Apart from the appearance, the corona rings reduce the use of xenon headlights, which of course significantly extends their lifespan. In fact, most cars in Canada use the high beams at about 20% power like the daytime running lights and not the headlights. On my 08 335i the daytime running lights are the middle group of lights that are at about 20% of their full power (these are halogen bulbs and are also used to let the high beams through) and have nothing to do with the external lights which are the xenon, which act as headlights, as well as the normal high beam (also known as bi-xenon). I believe 09 onwards BMW's DRLs are the rings, and the middle set of lights are for letting the flash through. High beam with halogen lights (xenon lamps heat up too slowly to be used for the flash to shine through). Depending on the model and option selected, the exterior lights can be halogen headlights or xenon headlights/high beam (also called bi-xenon)..

dashawn1 (23hp) | Hello everyone, as the title suggests, I'm looking at the Burger (BMS) JB4 Stage 2 modification. From all the internet information I've gathered so far, it looks like the first stage is a much simpler installation. But I'm not the one who doesn't want to get the most maximum performance out of this machine and would like to give you all the feedback. Does anyone have experience installing Stage 2? If so, how different was it? Any tips you would give to make things easier? Thank you everyone!

kkk666 (367hp) | Hello guys, I'm a newbie in this forum and also at BMW. I recently purchased an AWESOME 2011 550i and am trying to play music from my iPhone 6. I paired the car Bluetooth with my phone and probably can't make calls. But I need help dealing with the music problem. I've been researching and am not really interested in purchasing a cuddle, but would like to find a USB solution. I would be very grateful for any help.
|
08061990 (388hp) | Why not just play music via Bluetooth? When pairing your phone, make sure the “Audio” box is checked when configuring your phone (here are the steps for this): 1. CD/Multimedia 2. Bluetooth® (Audio) 3. Highlight the device you want. 4. Open Options. 5. Configure Phone 6. Audio 7. OK Once this is done, start music on the phone, then go to “Media” in iDrive and select “External Devices”. Your iPhone should appear there (assuming it's paired properly), select your iPhone and the music should start playing. I hope this helps.
|
030780 (21hp) | For this to work, you need to make sure you have the Advanced Bluetooth option. To find out, you can find a BMW VIN decoder online. Have you tried using the original white iPhone Lightning cable and connecting your iPhone 6 to the USB port in the center armrest? (Assuming you also have this option )

winter2 (651hp) | I know about the previous problems with the 550s from the threads posted here, but do you know if the newer 550s have the same problems? I don't keep up to date on this since I don't have a 550. I think it would be nice to have a little more power than me 535
|
nathan8 (322hp) | I'm pretty sure they fixed most of the problems with the 50i engine. I can't remember what they changed, but I read that the new 750i (2016) received some engine-specific upgrades for better reliability. So I suspect you'll need a 2016 550i to be affected by these upgrades, but to be honest I think any LCI 550i will be more reliable than a non-LCI
|
200983 (750hp) | I would get her an X Drive, sell yours, and then buy an M or another performance car you like. You have the truck, so you can be patient with the purchase...

I haven't really heard of any problems with the n63TU, assuming it hasn't been on the market very long and so I may not have had any problems yet. Before I got my 550 I was looking at a 535, but once I drove the 550 I knew that was the car I wanted. The 550's torque is like a freight train and extremely addictive. The power and torque are so effortless that I'm shocked when I look at the speedometer when I can do over 100 mph without any effort. Do yourself a favor and take an LCI 550 for a test drive. You will surely be impressed, the engine makes the car.

Pazzo009 (374hp) | Seems like she's already decided on an f10. Why would you try to change it from an absolutely great choice? You can always trade in your device for a 6GC or try something different. By the way, the A6 is great, if a little understated, which is part of its charm. It's also more unique and the Quattro awd is great. In the end, I still chose an F10 because the interior refinement goes a step further.
|
10091988 (975hp) | My wife's 2008 535xi wagon looks great in the garage next to my 550i. Both have 6 gears and we can't imagine anything else for regular use. Well, there are some fun and useful things, but the BMWs do almost everything for us.
|
cave (365hp) | do it!!! Interestingly the same thing just happened to me in that I had to buy her a 14' a few weeks ago so she wouldn't have to share with my 15'. Even though they look the same apart from the color, both vehicles are equipped completely differently (e.g. one has a Dynamic Handling Package, one doesn't, one has HK sound, one doesn't, one has a side camera, one doesn't, etc. etc. ), so for me I have two different BMWs because of their driving dynamics, comfort and safety experiences.

She wants it fully loaded since mine was just the base 535i, but that's cool because she let me put $6,000 wheels on it, among other things!

vaz21099 (218hp) | We had a similar dilemma. My wife only wanted a sedan like 435, 640, C400, Tesla but we ended up buying the Macan. Drives like a sedan, no modifications necessary, great handling, enough space, garnet red + black interior is just too good. Ps. She also wanted a sports sedan
|
021077 (482hp) | This sounds exactly like what happened to me when I bought my 550 Couple a few months ago. My wife was driving the car and automatically said, “That’s my car,” now she’s fallen in love with it. She wanted to buy a BMW, and that wasn't a good idea either. She finally decided on the all-white Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and now wants to buy 33-inch tires. She loves her Jeep now, to be honest I like driving it partly because it's different. Good luck

I understand you if your wife wants 33s! My wife drove both of our pallet trucks! The first was our 06' Tundra with 9 lift on 35's...as you can see the top carport is quite low compared to the truck and we also have an 08' Nissan Titan with 8 lift on 35's . She loves driving down the highway, sitting above everyone, and she loves braking up the road, lol! But she really enjoys driving my BMW and wants her own, and I completely understand that.

maddy12 (278hp) | A friend of mine has a 335d wagon Msport, gray with red interior, and it's wonderful!! I'm not into matching cars for him and her. Why don't you give her your car and get the M?4?

If you're looking for the 2.5" height, check out the Bilstein 5100 as these now eliminate the 2.5" spacers that people use. It's similar to a coilover, but you can adjust between 1 and 3 and they're only $100 each! Check if they are made for the jeeps

Since my struts were shot, I found that the Bilsteins are adjustable so no spacer is needed. But I just did an eBay search and your leveling kits are dirt cheap at $100-$150. However, I would confirm that you can buy the 33s
