bigdick12 (923hp) | FWIW: The F10's headlights are xenon and the coronarings/angeleyes are LED, according to the Dutch brochure....
|
jacob4 (9hp) | Quote: Posted by fireman550 I like the xenon going into angel eyes. I think this is standard for F10s here in the US, to my knowledge they are not available in HID. I think Xenon is also better than HID. What do you think?? firefighter, the main lamp of your F10 is xenon = HID. I agree, they look nicer than LEDs. As for the angel eyes, I think they're LED - the taillights certainly are. Most headlight systems use halogen/tungsten as their primary light source. it's fair to assume xenon (hidden) if it is white and with a leveling system. steve

280185 (691hp) | Anyone know what type of LED bulb does the Series 5 use? Is it H8? I really hope if someone can take it out and take a picture to show us what it looks like. I wonder if BMW makes their own special LED bulbs for the 2011 Angel Eye 3 and 5 series. And will it work on our 2011 7 series. Believe it or not. I just don't understand why our 2011 7 series comes with Yellow Angel Eye and the others don't. Most new Series 7 owners all complain about it lol. But please if anyone has the 2011 model 3 or 5 series with the original Angel Light bright white LEDs. And willing to provide us more information about LED bulb, it will be great. Because I really don't know if this is the complete headlight design or we can buy the 5 series LED bulb individually. Thank you DEC

230695 (787hp) | I just picked up my fully loaded 528i in mid-March and was overall happy with it. We went through all kinds of weather as we crossed the states. The car behaves well in all kinds of road conditions: heavy rain, blizzard, snow, strong side wind and of course dry road. When we first encountered the snowstorm near Mount Baker, we wanted to turn around because it was rear wheel drive, but I guess it was okay after all!! We drove 20 hours straight to Vegas, which didn't seem that long. Fuel economy was pretty good during the trip (maybe because we were mostly on highways). We arrived in Vegas with 3 1/2 tanks of gas. The car gave power when needed. Climbing the mountains was no problem at all~ (we were lucky not to have tickets at all!!) Before we left I was really worried about the rocks chipping the paint. But the paint was quite durable. One thing I didn't really like was the navigation system. There were a lot of mistakes and it took us a long way. The Premium audio system was pretty nice, but I prefer the Bose audio system that Audi offers.

bolivar (55hp) | In Singapore where face is very important, owners of F10 535i and 550i (I haven't seen a 550i here yet) will never debadge their cars since most F10s are 523i. The 535i or 550i badge gives them bragging rights. Instead of debadging, it's more common to find owners rebadging from the 523i to the 535i, but the tailpipes betray these antics. For you E60, I've seen many 520i 4 cylinders badged to save face, but the giveaway is the single exhaust outlet rather than dual..

You're seeing this discussion mainly because North America doesn't offer such an option from BMW. (Your response pretty quick) I changed my post right after posting it because I believe to each their own and I was having a bad day, but just because the option is available doesn't mean the majority takes it. The culture itself leans towards tidy concepts like badges and the majority of cars here reflect that. I'm not saying people don't choose, but every time I pass or get passed by a BMW I almost always look like an ass and most of the time I I'm not guessing. This means I would have to do some filler and body work and then repaint the entire trunk lid. Maybe one day. Most badges on cars are attached with automotive adhesive and easy to remove. alias (874hp) | I had the chance to see and drive the A7 here in Los Angeles. I have an F10 535 M sport on the way and should be there in a few weeks. As a former A8 owner, I was very curious about the A7. Audi has progressed over the last 5 years. I think it's beautiful from the front and medium from the back. The hatchback thing just doesn't make sense to me on a big sedan. When I opened it, I remembered my 1977 Vega GT sedan lol. It's so hard to get a quality test drive here in Los Angeles. I felt it handled very well (the quattro makes a difference) and had solid power, but that supercharged V6 just didn't have the same punch and the new BMW inline 6 found in the 535. I think it could turn out to be one of the best of all time. Just my .02.

Sorry, pop-up navigation seems like an afterthought. I read a review of the A7 by Jeremy Clarkson (TopGear/TimesOnline), one of his quotes that made me laugh was something like this... the Audi press release given to me said that the satellite navigation screen could be hidden when not needed. . Since it's used to show settings and status for navigation, audio/media, phone, etc., I want it all the time when I'm DRIVING...what's the point of it hide, I don't care if it's hidden when I'm not in the car. I have to admit that I don't like pop-up displays in cars. I guess I'm just used to the BMW way of always having the screen integrated and visible

BIGNTASTIE (222hp) | I had the chance to see and drive the A7 here in Los Angeles. It's so hard to get a quality test drive here in Los Angeles. overlook (631hp) | Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and have gained all the knowledge since yesterday. I have an F10 520d and was very relieved to learn yesterday that the speed limit function is automatically violated when you press the accelerator - I was wondering if this was a dangerous fault in my car every time that she was exceeding the speed limit. I have a quick question about adaptive cruise control that I read in articles in the same speed limit thread. Is this a standard feature for F10s or is it an option? I tried to see if I had ACC on the way back from the office last night... the fact that I had to brake quite hard at the last moment proved that it wasn't the case. Would it be very expensive to get ACC after purchase? Seems like a good thing to have.

Thanks CED, I am also interested to know if it is possible to install a replacement bulb in an F10 halogen headlight to get the bright angel eyes.... .

123456abcdef (414hp) | I have a 2011 F10 520d M-Sport with electric hitch. I find it much more useful than the manually installed one I had in my previous E60 5 series. However, I noticed that when fully retracted it appears below bumper level and about 3cm below the underbody of the car (see photo). I've extended and retracted it several times, and it always seems to end in this position. There is no indication that it is not fully retracted (i.e. the small button to control it in the trunk shows a green light and the control panel warnings are clear). Is it supposed to come out like that when retracted ??

The whole thing is of a different design. Each ring is illuminated by a few LEDs at the bottom of the ring. So no, it is not possible to install original BMW LEDs on old angel eyes. There are third-party solutions, but none of them look like the original F10 LED angel eyes. You can see the LED sets at the bottom of each ring.

050188 (442hp) | Yeah, unfortunately, that's how it is. But trust me, after a while you won't even notice it. Moreover, one can only see it from a rather low point of view. Check for example my car:
