|
rihana (432hp) | The Nissan Leaf is not a real car. It looks terrible, there's nowhere to recharge anal, and you'll find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere in no time. Car of the year - absurd!

260586 (63hp) | I agree. I don't believe the electric car scenario is going to happen anytime soon in the United States. Too high initial cost and no charging station available with possibility of browning and power outages if many people buy them. Hey, you're using either crude oil or coal---both fossil fuels.

It has a square frame. SOOOOOOOOO I would like to see some recommendations for the bike rack like the one above that goes on the support system. THANKS! All this BS because bmwusa doesn't sell the trailer hitch for our 5 series. Another stupid marketing from BMW. Of course, in Europe this is the case. Anyway...this is off topic.
|
chylld (229hp) | 1. You can probably get an aftermarket trailer hitch somewhere if you want a receiver mounted bike rack. 2. I find the roof rack attachments shown difficult to use due to the vertical reach required. I use the BMW fork-mounted bike tray, as all the fixings are basically at car roof level, easily accessible. The front wheel can fit in the trunk. This also seems to me to be a safer and more stable arrangement..
|
terezinha (747hp) | I have both the Thule roof rack and the bike rack (different from the one you showed above) and it works well. Mine attaches to the bottom of the downtube via the bottom bracket. I can take pictures if that helps?

garrett (364hp) | Here are the photos... The Thule bike rack works great with the Thule roof rails, as it simply slides in and then three push clips hold it in place (one of which is lockable), so it literally takes two minutes to put it in place. place. , if that. The roof rack is a bit more of a pain than the Thule one on my old A6 Avant, as that one requires eight Alan bolts, plus four lockable covers, so it will probably just live on the car, rather than installing and remove like my old one. ...and before the bike-related questions...yes, they're pink pedals, yes it's a single-speed mountain bike, and yes, it's a pain to go up hills....
|
roxy23 (453hp) | It looks good. (LOL pedals) My only problem is that it seems to rub a little on the frame. Thank you for taking the time to post these photos, as this was something I hadn't thought of. If I choose a wheel based system this shouldn't be a problem, I suppose another advantage of the wheel based system would be that it is a more universal solution..

Macplee (680hp) | Here's an update in case others are interested in getting it. I ordered both the Basic Support System ($265) and the Yakima Frontloader ($143) through Amazon. The basic support system was sold by a BMW dealer. Delivery was free. Finally today I had time to install everything. This thread here on the F10 Forums is also helpful: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=445656 Initial installation of the base support system is a major pain in the neck. It took me a good hour to finally get there. Now that I know the process, it would take me about 20 minutes. The process is well described in the manual, so read it, but here are a few tips that may help: 1. Make sure to clean the paint off the bolts. You must continue to screw in and out the screw provided to remove the paint from the bolts until you can tighten the screw with your bare hands almost all the way. 2. You will probably need to adjust the width of the bars. The best thing to do is to loosen the two screws (not too loose!) on each end of the bar. I'm talking about the screws that hold the aluminum bar into the plastic ends. Install the bar on the car. If you can't hand-tighten the screws, there's probably still paint left in the bolt. Once you have both ends securely installed, tighten the screws holding the aluminum bar together. It's a pain to tighten them like this because they face the roof and you can't see them but it's worth it. This way both ends will be in the correct position. Once the support system is adjusted and in place, installing the Yakima is a breeze, just like the video in the article above shows. I was hoping for a setup that wouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to install everything. I am happy to report that the system exceeded my expectations. It took me a total of 4 minutes and 20 seconds to secure the base support system AND get the Yakima on top. It still takes me about 2 minutes to put my bike on top of all that. Turning off the system takes about 3 minutes in total. One last piece of advice. Install the Yakima on the driver's side. This way, when you place the bike on it, the chain will face the passenger side, away from you. If the bike goes on the passenger side, you will get oil on your arms when removing the bike. The only downside I can think of is that if you're much shorter than me, you'll have trouble lifting the bike. I'm 5'10, of average build and can just lift the 20lb mountain bike high enough. Since it's raining, I wasn't able to go on a trail today. So I can't say how well the Yakima holds the bike. I will return after the first trip. I hope that tomorrow.

Simmo24 (322hp) | Well my post-September 2011 750li xdrive has six speeds. In turn, it's the jerkiest, most gas-guzzling BMW I've ever had the pleasure of driving. My complaint is not so much that you only get about 14 mpg on average in driving (the car gets excellent mpg on the highway). My gripe is more that you only get about 275 miles per fill-up. That amounts to a lot of extra gas over the non-turbo, non-drive 2008 750li. However, without a doubt, so far (6 months) it is the most fun, most confidence-inspiring, most functional gadget driving a BMW in my opinion...ever. And I compare that to the best machine built at the time, the 2005 e39. This new Bimmer beats the fun factor of the E39 hands down. The xdrive is amazing. For example, driving previous BMW cars in snow (even in bright conditions) often caused the DSC to trip, especially when starting. This is not the case with xdrive. I challenge you to find a surface that requires DSC interaction. It happens once in a blue moon. The xdrive is like having earth magnets on your tires sticking you to the ground! So, is the 750li, with its two major weaknesses, namely its gas mileage and its six speeds, worth the xdrive? Using the theme of your introduction, I would say: Yes! Yes! Yes! anggia (461hp) | 8 the gear in F10 feels lazy in normal mode, and too many quick shifts and it is tuned for fuel economy, 8 speed also needs to be in sport mode to feel the power from the start. The 6 speed auto in F10 would have seemed much stronger and more powerful. Most people who complain about the extra weight of the F10 compared to the E60 feel that weight because of the 8 speed transmission versus 6 speed in the E60. 8 speeds in 7 series would make it even heavier in normal mode. I love my 8 speed transmission, it offers great fuel economy, smooth, quiet and when needed it's powerful too.

Do you buy third party insurance or try to get the BMW/Safeguard policy cheaply from another BMW dealer? While there are third-party policies (e.g. First Automotive, IIRC), it's not clear what type of reception you would receive from a dealer who didn't sell you the car..

Do you buy third party insurance or try to get the BMW/Safeguard policy cheaply from another BMW dealer? While there are third-party policies (e.g. First Automotive, IIRC), it's not clear what type of reception you would receive from a dealer who didn't sell you the car..

22031990 (94hp) | I have covered 25,000 km with my 520D SE and my tires (225/55/R17 Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFT) already need to be replaced. The level of wear is still very decent, but the sidewalls are unevenly worn (staircase pattern), which leads to a lot of noise and (in my opinion) even more vague steering. At this point, it's unclear whether the uneven wear is due to poor geometry or the tires themselves. Which tires to choose? I drive 90% highway, mostly unimpeded. 130-140 km/h. I'm considering ditching the RFTs and buying regular tires with a mobility kit instead. Here are several options: Bridgestone Turanza ER300 Ecopia 97 W - 161 EUR Uniroyal Rainsport2 101 W - 163 EUR Goodyear EAGLE NCT5 101W - 165 EUR Continental Premiumcontact2 97 Y - 182 EUR Michelin Primacy HP 97 W - 185 EUR Michelin Primacy HP 101 W - 215 EUR Besides, I would like to know if anyone of you encountered the same problem with the Pirelli RFT.

juster (340hp) | If you are switching to NON run flats tires then Michelin Primacy HP 101 W off your list, if you are staying with run flats I use Good Year Excellence 225/55/17 and they are doing well. No noise or other issues so far (7,000 miles). If you're ditching run flats, I'd be interested in your thoughts on how the car handles, etc...

kool13 (359hp) | Well, I ordered my F11 520 sports car with NRFT (standard tubeless7 tires) 225/55 R17. It was a battle to get the dealer to order the car with regular tires... I have the Continental Premiumcontact2 97 Y and am very happy with it. Comfort, sportiness, braking and performance in the rain. Excellent Average fuel 7.6 l I have 13000 Km and they are 50 %.

159357000 (779hp) | So, does anyone have any inside information or insight into the status of BMW apps? When I was waiting for the 6NR option, rather than buying an existing car off the lot, I thought we were going to be on the cusp of a new connectivity revolution. However, we still only have the same three applications, more or less useful (Twitter, Facebook, Internet radio). And the app itself has yet to receive an update. In addition to commenting on this, can anyone tell me if there is any potential for improved app functionality with the eternally delayed plug-in adapter? I still don't understand what this does beyond charging and antenna enhancement..

defjam (221hp) | Hello guys! I'm ordering a 535xi for my wife... here are the specs: AW Sports PKG Premium PKG Heated front seats Sport Automatic transmission Navigation Charcoal headliner Cinnamon brown with dark wood Is there anything I'm going to miss? I wasn't going to order the Nav, but the dealer told me you had to do it right away because of the disaster in Japan. Something about a lack on a chip that allows you to not have Nav. Is this true? Well, I'm glad I had to add this option. Here's the bonus! They had a July construction allocation for the 1M, so I put a deposit down on that as well. So my wife can drive in luxury, while I can race in the fun car. Too bad my wife doesn't know how to drive a 6MT.

6173580 (915hp) | I would order the heads-up display. Once you have it, you don't want a car without.
|
monkey80 (943hp) | I have a cin brown with anthracite wood and anthracite (deep blue) headliner, so nice color choice. Agreed with the heads-up display. beautiful color, extra neat, very practical, I don't know how I managed without it. If you have rear passengers, the 4-zone climate control and heated rear seats are also nice. jinn

blackice1 (80hp) | I'm looking forward to iPhone 4 support being available (to take advantage of the iPhone 4's video output capability). Obviously, according to various automotive forums, the initial mounts had overheating issues and are now unavailable until summer. I was curious, so I emailed BMW to inquire about expected availability. Here is their response: Thank you for your interest in BMW parts and accessories. At this point there is no additional information regarding this part. Well that was helpful...

1chelsea (906hp) | I bought one yesterday from the BMW dealership (they were out of stock). Part #84-21-2-218-390 MED SNAP-IN ADAPTER. $266.52.

Is it only useful to port the iPhone's iPod interface to your BMW's screen, or does it allow you to use other apps on your iPhone?
|
200707 (850hp) | Please note that the actual part and instructions say it is for the iPhone 3G/GS, but the parts rep called BMW and this is the correct part for the iPhone 4 as well (it fits correctly). You will need to download the BMW Connected app from the AppStore. The interface once plugged in is really cool. Obviously, it displays the album art of all your music that is on the iPhone, etc... You can stream Web Radio (really cool - I have my old New York stations), Facebook and Twitter are also available. The stand also charges your phone. Plus, when you log out, the app will show you the fuel level (gallons), range, and total distance when you first open the app (pretty cool if you forget how much fuel you have). you have left). My car was a March version. I've actually been waiting for the apps to become available because I'm pretty sure they'll expand to many more cool things in the future. Good luck!!

inside1 (377hp) | X-fibre: Just to clarify - This adapter is for vehicles equipped with the factory options Smart Phone Integration or BMW Apps. For vehicles with smartphone integration, this adapter not only charges the phone, but also provides access to any music or MP3 files stored on the phone. Additionally, it provides a connection to your car's roof-mounted phone antenna for better cellular reception. For vehicles equipped with BMW Apps, this adapter is required to fully use the option. In addition to the interesting features noted for smartphone integration, it allows you to use the “PlugIn” as well as the “Video Playback” features. It is not the same as IPOD output.
|
luckys1 (599hp) | Quote: Posted by scoob1 This is not the same as IPOD output. Apple iPod output = BMW PlugIn. Requires multimedia support and 6NR. iPod Out is actually code in the iPhone's iOS4 operating system that allows developers to access the iPod interface to enable display and control of the iPod interface, which can then be edited in a later version without BMW having to change anything..

sweet3 (436hp) | So if I drive a pre-March 2011 production car, there is no point for me to buy the plug-in adapter.?
|
castelo (883hp) | Maybe not pointless... Basically, bet $100.00 if you are after September 2010 production (i.e. you have the combox) that a software update will be available in the future (so, yeah, pretty much useless at this point anyway). I bought one today and it works the same as the USB or cheaper $100.0 plug-in adapter made for pre-March production cars on my December production 550i. I'm now hoping that a software update will be released soon and will give me full functionality (mainly video is what I'm interested in). The iPhone seems to be heating up, but that could just be because it's charging. Oh and the signal seems to be improving (eg 2 bars out of the cradle and 3 in the cradle). I probably won't use it much unless I can take advantage of all the features. So this seems more like a $250.00 bet to me, but I'm sure I can sell it for a few hundred, making it more of a $50.00 bet (see how easily I can justify throwing almost $300.00 out the window on something I'm most likely never going to use, lol)... Or I'll just return it and complain about the phone getting hot. The only thing is I feel bad for buying the last one that someone could use a lot more than me. So if you're in NorCal, have 6NR, need to have it now, and the local dealers are all running out in the near future, shoot me. PM. -edit- Actually (now that I've Googled it) it looks like you can already get a 6NR software upgrade from a 3rd party and even the combox upgrade is apparently available from a third. So it seems that the media adapter support is worth it (even before the September release) and if it is already possible to update the software via a third party, I hope BMW will at least offer an update to software level in the near future (otherwise I will). you just need to contact a third party for this)...
|
040584 (888hp) | I received mine today. The dealer bought it from me at a 30% discount, which works out to about $212. The iPod interface is really good, but I can't figure out how to play a video. Any ideas? http://f10.5post.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1303772586

According to proven confirmation from the BMW plant in Dingolfing, the 6NR upgrade is planned for 06/11 :-) Greetings from Munich Habsinger - edit - No information on costs, but I guess it will be ~200. Additionally, you will need to purchase the NEW media support. I have the first edition of Media Snap In, which heats up pretty quickly. I will request a change from BMW once the new model is available.

But I couldn't believe it and contacted the factory directly through my sales representative. Then he emailed me his response which included a screenshot of the internal order with the expected release date for the upgrade. Let's hope BMW delivers on time. Well done Habsinger
