From the author: Published for the first time She raises her eyes full of tears to me and asks, with timid hope: “Tell me, how can I get him back?” What should I do? I feel sad, I sigh and look at her silently. What can I tell her, this desperate girl who came to a psychologist for help? That there is no recipe for exact actions to make him return? Is it generally strange to hear that you can “return your loved one” as if it were a lost thing? He is an adult, he decided to leave her. She thinks that if she changes herself, becomes different for him, he will return. She is even ready to lose herself for this. It seems that if she is commanded to kill a black cat, go to the crossroads of three roads on a full moon and say magic words, she will believe and go... She thinks, from her lost state, that for happiness she needs only one thing - for him to return. I still don’t know anything at all about who he is and who she is, what kind of relationship they had, what became the reason for the breakup. I only know that a breakup does not happen out of the blue, and the entire long or short history of the relationship served as a prelude to a sad end. In addition to sympathy and sadness, indignation rises in me (she managed to tell me that the man left suddenly, without explaining anything ) and a little annoyance - despair and grief so erase everything, she is so ready for anything that it hurts for her... Yes, I think, first she will have to live through the grief of loss: it clouds her eyes and besides him, she can’t feel anything now and think about nothing. And only then we will figure out what happened. What kind of relationship did they have? What did she expect from him? Did she know what he wanted from her? Whether they talked about what was going on between them or not. Did they have any quarrels? How she chose him and what was most important to her about him. How did the parental families participate in their relationship... and so on and so forth, a million questions interest me, but the time has not come for them yet. I don’t have an answer now to the question - will he return to her. But she is sitting in front of me, and first she needs to return to herself, to regain her soul, which is now yearning for him, yearning so much that she is all there - crying about him and forgetting about herself. The main thing is to get her back. And then she will be able to decide what to do herself. “Listen,” I quietly tell her. - I see you crying and I’m sad to see it. I feel sympathy and I want to help you. Is it possible to do something to make him want to return, you and I will try to understand together when you calm down a little, because while you are in this state, it is difficult to do anything. Tell me about what you're going through right now...
