The common belief is that Psychotherapy is a treatment with words. “Chattering can’t cure you,” you will think, and you will be absolutely right, since there is a huge difference between the psychotherapeutic process and chatter or ordinary conversation. A person’s word can offend and cause emotional wounds, but it can also heal. Psychotherapy is a special type of treatment that uses special methods: developed techniques for conducting a conversation, asking questions, trance, hypnotic, projective techniques. The use of medications is not implied, but support may be temporary. The goal of all types and methods of psychotherapy is a simple and clear task - psychological and medical assistance to a person in solving his problems. For example, if there is a neurotic atmosphere in the family (systematic quarrels between parents, alcoholism, etc.), then no matter what system of education adults adhere to, the child will definitely receive his share of neurotic reactions, which in the future will become entrenched in his character, and he will constantly “carrying this burden” that interferes with your personal life, education, and career. As you know, it is the family that forms in a person the basic properties of his character, which form the person’s personality with the help of the characteristics of his personality, the uniqueness of each person, the development of science, education and culture occurs, and ultimately, the development of all humanity. There is not a single industry, not a single sphere of production that could rely on the undeveloped “I” of a person. The army, industry, science, etc. will inevitably collapse upon contact with a degenerating performer, a person with low self-esteem. The goal of psychotherapy is the personal growth of the patient. It is not difficult to remove or significantly reduce anxiety and fear; it is more difficult to awaken and activate the patient, to turn him from a passive participant in the dialogue with the doctor into an active person. Only in this case, when the patient himself begins to realize the root, and not just the consequences of his problems, does real and final deliverance from them occur. This is a difficult and often long path, but the only one that brings a favorable perspective - which is why drug therapy, despite its importance, can only be part of the overall psychotherapeutic approach. Who does psychotherapy? In the broad sense of the word, psychotherapy is carried out by all doctors. Many general specialists always encounter the phenomenon of tense anticipation and fear in the patient: therapists at the diagnosis stage, surgeons and anesthesiologists at the stages of preparing the operation, nurses at all stages - they all carry out psychotherapeutic work in one way or another, while in the presence of an ethics of syntony (abilities for emotional empathy) significantly improve the patient’s condition. Such psychotherapy, which can be called intuitive psychotherapy, requires emotional participation on the part of the medical professional. The value of such dialogue is beyond doubt. But is psychotherapy carried out only in hospitals? Of course not! Moreover, there is not a single sphere of human activity where it would not be appropriate. All stages of human development are associated with inevitable crises, while the crises and conflicts themselves are mandatory conditions for personal growth, and a big mistake is to fixate a person on the crises themselves. This “displacement of gaze” costs a person dearly: a feeling of powerlessness and hopelessness arises. This does not always require the help of a psychotherapist; it is enough if there is a reliable friend or a good colleague nearby, because sometimes one cheerful phrase is enough for a person to straighten his shoulders: “Screw that!” Professional psychotherapy is a kind of art that arose in the intersection of sciences such as psychology, psychiatry, philosophy, sociology. This is a special area of medicine that requires a special approach to treatment. The psychotherapeutic relationship is characterized by trust and complete confidentiality. Contrary to popular belief among the poorly educated and those who rarely read.
