Motivation for change: how to achieve what you want and stay in harmony with yourself Motivation for change is an extremely important question, but the answer to it is not always simple. Popular advice such as “just take it and do it” does not always bring the expected results. However, there is one effective mechanism that can help - a contract for change. So, how to establish motivation and take control of your life? 1. Clear goals for change. The first step is to determine what exactly you want to change about yourself. This could be improving health, developing skills, or something else.2. Defining actions. The next step is to understand what needs to be done to achieve the goal. Make a list of specific actions.3. Preventing Sabotage: It is important to recognize what factors can undermine your efforts. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, identify potential pitfalls, such as the temptation to eat unhealthy foods. Prepare in advance for such situations.4. Support from others. Determine who in your environment will support you along this path. Share your plans with your loved ones, perhaps find like-minded people among your friends, or even consult a psychologist.5. Estimate time and results: Break your journey into stages and determine how much time each will require. Also imagine what the completed goal will look like.6. Understanding the benefits of change. Reflect on how useful and pleasant these changes are for you. This will help maintain faith in success. The next important aspect is the internal supports and their structure. Throughout life, we are constantly faced with the need to create and destroy supports. Life is constantly changing, and we must change too. How to build new supports: Interest in new things allows us to approach changes, gain new experiences and use them in the future. Noticing new opportunities and ideas, we begin to integrate them into our lives, creating new supports. Exercises: Surviving crises. Think about difficult situations in your life and how you dealt with them. This will help you recognize your strengths and prepare for future challenges. Breaking down pillars. Think about how you feel about losing your support and what strategies you use to cope with it. Self-care. List how you care about your safety in various aspects of life. Pride and recognition. Determine what you could be proud of and what achievements would be important to you. These exercises will help you better understand yourself and find internal support for successful changes. Don’t forget to believe in yourself and go towards your goals, taking into account your needs and capabilities.
