Good afternoon, Dear Friends! As promised, I am publishing the next article devoted to therapy and the stages of which it may consist. Yes, when the client finally approaches At that moment when it is important to finally live through his hitherto pent-up experiences, and he lives them, he receives great relief, is freed from the burden that has been weighing on him for a long time. Here he, as it were, rediscovers the possibilities of therapy for himself, is once again imbued with its meaning, feels fulfilled again... But here, instead of living, strong resistance can arise. After all, it's no joke! It is necessary to do something difficult, even painful, perhaps, to appear, as the client thinks, vulnerable... It becomes scary, anger arises, which turns on the therapist. After all, perhaps it was he who brought the client to the realization that the client had something that he might not really want to show or present like that. This can be like a fear of getting hurt again, or like the fact that they noticed some, as the client thinks, unsightly side of him, which is a shame to show... And here in therapy there comes a moment when a risk appears for the relationship between the client and the therapist. The client is faced with a dilemma, wondering whether the game is “worth the candle”, wondering whether it would be easier to leave everything as it is than to rush headlong into the pool and face the results of such self-disclosure later... Isn’t it easier to give up everything than to take risks, the client thinks . Yes, sometimes he comes to the conclusion that there is no point in “getting involved in all this” just yet and leaves. And in order to prevent this, relatively speaking, so that such a desire does not arise at such an important and responsible moment, on the threshold of important changes in therapy and the life of the client , it is important to first build trust between therapist and client. While there is no reliable one yet, perhaps it is not worth taking risks and embarking on these difficult experiences. For now, the therapy may not survive such trials. It is important for us to be attentive to issues of trust. Create it sincerely. And this is work, it seems to me, on both sides. This is what I like about Gestalt therapy. After all, it is positioned as contact therapy. That is, the creation of contact and trust is given the meaning of something fundamental here in this approach. Of course, this is also true in other approaches, I just know more about Gestalt. Thank you for your attention! I look forward to your responses! I will present the continuation to your attention tomorrow. If you liked the material, please click on “Say thanks”! In order not to miss interesting things, subscribe to my publications!
