Now, when many families are forced to stay at home for a long time, parents may be tempted to sit down their restless child, handing him gadgets, so that they can at least have a little rest from the need to constantly pay him attention. Indeed, parents can understand because they may have other concerns. However, if you want to give gadgets to your preschooler, you need to remember a few important points. First of all, a preschooler is a small child. Of course, he already knows how to speak, largely takes care of himself, is actively interested in the world around him and asks a lot of questions. But due to natural age reasons, he still does not know how to plan his affairs, predict results, or foresee the consequences of his actions. A preschool child does not yet have all this, he is personally immature and not independent, so parents are of course responsible for how he spends time with gadgets. The first thing you need to pay attention to is the repertoire or choice of what the child watches in gadgets. what he does in them. Of course, there is no need to forbid your child to watch his favorite cartoon or play his favorite computer game. But we must keep in mind that soon our preschooler will begin to study at school, so it is very important that now he receives basic knowledge about the world around him, develops his attention and memory. This will be facilitated by a variety of cartoons and educational games. At the same time, there should be a place for entertainment in the life of a preschooler. Only an adult can find the difficult balance between them in the life of a particular child. You also need to keep in mind the timing - i.e. the length of time a preschool child spends with gadgets. As I already said, a preschooler is still small and therefore does not know how to estimate the duration of time (is 20 minutes a lot or a little?), cannot control his activities, conforming them, for example, with the individual recommendations of the attending physician (if he has any diseases). He may not understand that he is tired, he may forget that he needs to get ready for bed, etc. He does not yet manage his time fully - his daily routine is determined by his parent. Therefore, only you can control how much time your child spends with the gadget in his hands. Finally, you may be faced with the problem of removing your child from the virtual world, into which the baby can be completely immersed. However, as a rule, the child does not immediately completely go into the virtual world. Until this happens, maintain voice contact with him: you can periodically tell him something while remaining in the “background” mode. For example, you could ask, “Do you need to go to the toilet?” or “Would you like a drink?” or something about what is happening in the world of his cartoon or computer game. This way, you will maintain a connection with your child and this will allow you to prepare him for the fact that soon his play with gadgets will need to end. Gradually inform your child that it is time to finish working with the gadget, tell him: “In 5... 2 minutes you will need to go wash your hands for lunch.” The child hears you, and when the designated time comes, his parting with the gadget will not be as abrupt and traumatic as if you came up and simply turned off the gadget or took it away. So, the repertoire of what your baby does while holding a smartphone or tablet, timing and end of stay in the virtual world - these are the important features that parents need to control, since due to their age the preschooler does not yet know how to manage them himself.
