When I was 5 years old, my dad gave me pocket money for the first time so that I could buy what I liked myself. When I didn’t have enough money for something, for example, a beautiful doll, my parents told me that I could wait and save up a little. In fact, this did not happen as calmly and rosy as it might seem at first glance - the moment they trusted me with pocket money money was preceded by several of my attempts to throw a tantrum in a store about buying a toy that I suddenly suddenly wanted. So, the starting point is the 90s. Having acquired the opportunity and right to have pocket money, I already began to understand what there was enough money for in our family and what there was not, attitudes towards shopping items began to form, what was needed and what was not needed. This was the beginning of my interaction with the environment, a process in which I already acted as a subject of social relations, assimilating social experience and uncertainly but rapidly influencing society through my own activities - which can be called socialization. According to research, a child from 5 up to 7 years of age are most susceptible to mastering economic concepts (Valyavsky A.S., 1991). Children's sensitivity is based on several components: imitation, when the child consciously strives to copy a certain model of behavior of adults, and in particular, parents; identification by which the child internalizes parental behavior, attitudes, and values as his own. It is important to say here that children’s receptivity is completely uncritical; a 5-year-old child lacks a subjective attitude to social values, a conscious understanding of their meaning, or their assessment, as existing research in this area of psychology shows. Children at this age prefer to passively perceive the information offered, without making additional efforts to search and process it. In order for parents to understand how to teach a child to handle money, it is important to know the peculiarities of the child’s perception of the world around him and his behavioral characteristics. Firstly, children of five and six years of age are equally focused on receiving impressions from the world around them, on active cognition of it. Secondly, they feel the need to participate in public life and recognition of their achievements by the reference group (which is most significant for them). Thirdly, a distinctive feature of six-year-old children and five-year-old children have the need to be not just an active member of the group, but also a co-participant of it, i.e. to have the opportunity to feel and experience together with the group. When making a purchase and acquiring any product, a child must have an interest in the item being purchased, that is, the product must have an emotional positive charge for the child. Of course, an important factor is the presence of significant information about the product, which a child can receive from his own existing experience, the media or from the opinions of significant adults. Before you start discussing the topic, what should parents do and how to teach children to make purchases and to choose, it is also important to mention the existing forms of consumption by preschool children and how these forms can influence the formation of certain socio-psychological characteristics of the child and behavior in relation to the world around them. Guseva T.V. as a result of her study “Consumer behavior of children of senior preschool age in the process of socialization”, she identified two forms of consumption of children: passive and active. Active consumption manifests itself in a child when he is involved in the shopping process, he knows the cost and value of money, he begins to improve to navigate modern economic realities, pays attention to the price of the product offered, the convenience of its acquisition, the duration of use and the reliability of the product. Representatives of this group most often have money at their own disposal and are able to set themselves the goal of acquiring something they like and are able to.
