The purpose of keeping a sports diary is to help the athlete and coaching staff in organizing the training process, systematizing the influences that lead to athletic growth. The modern training process includes an analysis of each session, which allows us to trace the athlete’s characteristics to loads and recovery. The forms and contents of the diary are different and depend on what tasks the coaching staff sets for their students. A diary helps you understand yourself better. It reveals not only weaknesses, but also strengths. Shows the success that the athlete has worked diligently towards. I would like to pay special attention to the psychological component in an athlete’s diary. Athletes endure enormous physical and psychological stress, and can be in a state of overwork and apathy, both in training and in competitions. Therefore, when working with athletes, I propose adding a psychological aspect. That is, athletes indicate their mood after training and what influenced it. In individual work, the psychological component is corrected, which leads the athlete to achieve higher results. The most important information in the diary is the dynamics of physical development and results. Within a certain time, the athlete must master the skill. On this basis, speed, endurance, and strength develop. Characteristics that can be reflected in the diary: Energy consumption; Training intensity; Load volume; Number of repetitions; Heart rate. The parameters will depend on the chosen sport. Recession help. The cause of an athlete's poor performance can be identified. Depending on the age of the athlete and the training objectives, you can compare the past and present seasons. Perhaps the reason will be insufficient workload or intensity. Motivation. It is important to track your progress in order to be inspired by your own achievements and move towards your goal. Report. The diary reporting period helps to track weekly, seasonal and annual results. Seasonal indicators indicate which activities and to what extent led the athlete to results. Annual: analyze the dynamics of development; help determine the next annual plan; show the number of performances in competitions. The essence of the athlete's diary is the development of the “athlete's mindset.” At competitions, the athlete must make his own decisions. Analyzing your own activities in a diary develops reflection, which will also be reflected in the athlete during competitions.
