Anger is one of the basic human emotions. Unfortunately, anger in society is often perceived as a “negative” emotion. But is this really so? What is anger for? Anger serves as a signal of the inconsistency of our expectations from life. A striking example is a violation of personal boundaries. A surge of energy in the arms and legs, indignation and acute misunderstanding of what is happening can be a sign of disturbed comfort. This is how anger signals the need to change the rules. The function of anger is to supply energy to destroy the usual scenario of events and the birth of a new one. Metaphorically, anger helps to destroy what no longer works. Will it be necessary to build something again - a question of desire. What will happen if you suppress anger? Suppressing anger often leads to self-destructive consequences: excess weight, alcohol abuse, excessive craving for extreme sports, self-harm and psychosomatic symptoms. Overeating and excess weight indicate need person is safe. Anger triggers the release of adrenaline, norepinephrine and cortisol. We need these hormones to make decisions in stressful situations. Alcohol allows a person to reduce control and temporarily release emotions. The craving for extreme sports can be perceived as an attempt to relieve tension and relax. Such people often have to be “good.” It’s hard for them to say “no”, declare their desires and get what they want. How to benefit from anger? Feeling angry is a clear sign that it’s time to change something in your usual way of life. Studying your anger can protect you from emotional decisions and hasty conclusions .
