The personality of every person is multifaceted. It is interesting to observe the behavior, facial expressions, and reactions of others to different situations. Stopping in your fussiness, you can notice many interesting people next to you. Attention is often focused on the behavioral reactions of the object of observation, based on which it is already possible to identify personality problems or the absence thereof. On the other hand, it is very difficult to interpret the behavior of a person with whom the experience of communicating is rather limited. I would like to give an example of an hour and a half observation of citizen P. and the conclusions drawn from this observation. The character and events are fictitious, any coincidences are accidental. “A standard working day in a mid-level office. Working hours are from 8.00 to 17.00. Citizen P. enters the office at 8.35, silently, with his head bowed down. There are no words of greeting. The clothes are completely appropriate for the situation, but the shoes are dirty and the hairstyle is sloppy. Sits down at his workplace and looks at the computer monitor wordlessly for exactly 4 minutes, without making any movements at all.8.40. He gets up from the table, approaches his senior colleague and slowly, quietly, monotonously, looking to the side, says: “Uh, I’m here, well this... (long pause)... yesterday I made a report, there uh, I need to...” and returns to his workplace without completing the sentence to the end. At this moment, his face becomes covered with red spots. The colleague asks a counter question in order to understand the essence of the appeal. In response he receives a nod of his head. Next, the subject of observation sits for approximately 3 minutes, rocks on a chair, and periodically scratches his head. Then he takes out an apple and begins to eat it, chewing it thoroughly.8.45. The team starts talking about a fired employee. The subject under study straightens his back and begins to express himself emotionally in a raised tone: “That’s what he needs, otherwise he was writhing here, writhing, making a fool of himself, but he had to work!” Having not received support for his words in response, he again assumes a pose of silent concentration.9.00. The head of the organization comes and gives orders to citizen P. Without changing the position of his head, he agrees to the given task, while accompanying him with a pronounced grin. He turns away in the opposite direction with disgust, props his head on his hand and looks at the wall for a while. 9.30. He jumps up from the table, actually runs up to the shelf with documents and takes out from the shelf the papers necessary to carry out the director’s instructions and, slowly, returns to his workplace...” Conclusions drawn. Speech activity. Speech is quiet, incoherent, meaningless, unformed, undirected, unpredictable, sometimes filled with negative expressiveness. Statements are monologue, short, accompanied by long pauses. Facial expressions. There is no expressiveness or mobility in the movement of the facial muscles, except for moments of disgust and anger. In general, facial expressions are characterized by great tension. Motor activity. The pace of movement is slow and uncoordinated. The gait is smooth, awkward. Posture is poor. The pose is unnatural. Acts of movement are single, incomplete, sometimes explosive. The general behavior of the object of observation indicates hidden excitement, since his visual contact with others is completely absent, and his face is periodically covered with red spots. A slow pace of speech, frequent pauses indicate self-doubt. There is a moment when the timbre of the voice changes from quiet to loud with a pronounced emotional accompaniment. At the same time, the observed object gives the impression of an indifferent person. On the one hand, he is stingy with emotions, apathetic, his speech lacks polite words respectful to his colleagues, or there is a reluctance to express them. On the other hand, there is a clear lack of empathy, expressed in a statement about a fired employee. He does not care about the state of his appearance. Contacts with the environment are kept to a minimum, which possibly indicates isolation. This person does not care about his position in the team or his appearance. Do you think it is possible, depending on the situation?
