Why does a person need a family? At first you might think - what a simple question - it’s obvious! Everyone knows that having a family gives a person the opportunity to satisfy basic needs, such as the need for food, comfortable sleep, safety and protection, sex, psychological and physiological comfort, belonging, emotional attachment, self-esteem, the need to be loved and to love. Receiving feedback from a partner helps build self-esteem by recognizing the important role one plays in the relationship. Relationships with loved ones are an important resource for confirming one’s own importance, usefulness, and value. Conventionally, psychologists identify seven main functions of the family: 1. Economic and household 2. Emotional 3. Spiritual and cultural communication 4. Educational 5. Primary social control 6. Sexual and erotic 7. Primary social protection But it is not enough to know the theory, it is important to be able to correlate this with with your family. Unfortunately, not all people understand that exaggeration of one function will inexorably lead to a decrease in others. This is why in some families there are imbalances that lead to conflicts. Often during consultations, situations like this are addressed: a woman works a lot, and in her free time from work she is too busy raising children and maintaining household issues, she has neither physical nor emotional strength left to communicate with her husband. The following situations are also common: a wife, while on maternity leave, is offended by her husband for not receiving any help or attention from him. Sometimes, after returning from maternity leave, she begins to make up for everything she didn’t receive, and her husband doesn’t like it. All these and many similar situations are a source of conflicts and family crises. The biggest difficulty in the relationship between spouses is the inability to communicate with each other: talk about your feelings and needs, ask your partner for help, receive and give emotional support. Misunderstanding leads to the accumulation of negative emotions, which over time begin to develop into neuroses, destroying health, or pour out, destroying relationships. Prevent family crises so that your family life is long and harmonious.
