From the author: About intelligence and its multiple manifestations Today we will talk about intelligence, more precisely about its varieties. The word intelligence comes from the Latin intellectus - understanding, comprehension. In psychology, intelligence is defined as the mental operation of an individual, during which he is able to build an individual style and strategy in solving problems. Intelligence is always manifested in special tasks, for example, in the way a child solves riddles, solves problems, plays football, etc. To determine intelligence in psychology, an IQ test is used. Psychologists use this test to measure a person's intelligence. According to the theory of American psychologist Howard Gardner, a person is the owner of general intelligence, with a number of independent abilities. Gardner includes such abilities as linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence. But it is important to understand that multiple intelligences and cultural spheres are closely related to each other, so it is important not to confuse them. The cultural environment is the environment around a person, under the influence of which he can demonstrate a variety of intellects. It is quite simple to determine this: if in the social environment it is believed that a person is competent in his field, he has the opportunity to apply his knowledge and skills in practice and achieve great results. If a person’s environment cannot make competent judgments, then he will not have the opportunity to give impulses for the development of skills, abilities and knowledge acquisition, which means the chances of good results are very small. Therefore, G. Garner believes, measuring everyone’s intelligence with an IQ test is not objective. The intelligence of an adult also manifests itself in certain activities. Previously, there was an opinion that if you train a person correctly, then anyone can be taught everything. Now most researchers are inclined to the presence of multiple intelligences, which are independent of each other and each of them has both strengths and weaknesses. And since reason is given to us from birth, it is quite difficult to teach a child something that contradicts his natural development. We must not forget that the biological development of the “body-intelligence” system is surprisingly plastic and this plasticity is most manifested at the beginning of a person’s life. This allows the body-intellect system to adapt to changing circumstances. Another factor in the development of intelligence is the theory of hemispheric dominance. Scientists have proven that if one hemisphere of the brain is dominant, for example the right, then this suggests that the child will be left-handed, and if the left hemisphere is dominant, then the child will be right-handed. The dominance of the hemispheres can be conventionally compared with the distribution of intellectual development. If the left hemisphere is dominant, then it is more likely that the child will develop logical-mathematical intelligence, and if the right hemisphere is dominant, then the development of musical intelligence is possible. Of course, it is impossible to say that this will certainly happen, since there are many factors influencing child development, such as health, family, parenting style, genetics, environment, etc. But based on Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, and the Dennisons’ theory of the development of two hemispheres, it can be assumed that if a child develops two simultaneously from infancy hemisphere, then this will significantly expand the multiple intellectual capabilities of the child in the process of assimilation of information. And perhaps then, every child will find a use for himself in adult life, he will not consider himself an outcast, nor strange, nor special. Adults, during the development of a child, need to understand that each person develops according to his own individual program.
