Anxiety is the body's natural reaction to a stressful situation. But in some cases it causes severe discomfort and can even harm one’s health. Below are a few comments regarding anxiety. “I am constantly worried about my family, myself, and the future. If something bad happens to those around me, the thought immediately pops into my head: “What if it happens to me too.” I convince myself that this is not my life, that I have my own destiny, but it doesn’t really help.” “I'm extremely anxious. I am very afraid of losing people close to me. I often get upset after watching tragic films or news. For a long time I can’t get what I saw out of my head. And I project everything onto my family. I don’t know how to deal with this yet.” “At different times I worry in different ways, sometimes very much, sometimes it lets go. Depends on the situation. But in general, I think that I have increased anxiety. But I don’t know how to fight.”“I’m really an anxious person. I am constantly afraid for my family. There are many tragedies associated with road accidents in my life and with loved ones. Therefore, everything related to transport is alarming. I try to push these thoughts away, but they keep coming back. It’s hard to live like this.” How to cope with feelings of anxiety here and now? Here are some simple tips: Breathe! Sit down. Relax. Slowly and steadily inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Breathe so that your stomach moves and your chest remains motionless. The body will be saturated with oxygen, which is extremely necessary during stress. Move! Physical activity will increase the level of serotonin, which is also called the “happiness hormone.” Just 10 minutes and the stress will subside, you will be filled with energy, and a fresh perspective on the situation will appear. Write letters! Not simple, but expressive. Take a piece of paper and a pen. Set your alarm for 15 minutes. Write whatever comes to mind within the allotted time. Important! Do not separate words, do not use punctuation marks. It should be one long word. It really clears your head. We are all individuals. Try different techniques and you will find what works for you. But of course, the main weapon in the fight against anxiety is self-awareness.
