Once upon a time, there lived little gnomes who studied all their lives. Every gnome had to go to school all his life. Some of them went to school with a sign on the door: “We will make you the smartest and most successful.” And the second - to a school on the door of which there was a modest piece of paper: “You will make yourself as you want.” The first school was located in the center of their main city, on the central square - it was equipped with excellent classrooms, high-speed Internet, modern technology and the most famous professors . The second school was located on the outskirts, almost in the forest. There was no technology or internet, only tables and chairs made by the gnomes themselves. Classes were often held outdoors - the weather was always good in the land of gnomes. And the most incredible thing was that the gnomes themselves taught each other. At the first school, the lesson went like this: an eminent professor came to the board, turned on the equipment and began to show and tell how the planet of gnomes works, what is behind it, what gnomes should strive for. He said that if it weren’t for modern technologies, which he mastered for many years, he would never have become so smart and famous. And the little gnomes listened to him with admiration and dreamed that they would become the same: at night they sat on the Internet, learning how modern technologies work. They drew more and more new information, sprinkled more and more new facts and information and, of course, were very proud of themselves. At the second school there were no lessons in the usual sense. But there was time to constantly observe the life around us. When one of the gnomes suddenly became interested in breeding pigeons, the other gnomes held a conference at which each gnome was asked to express their own point of view and recommendations. They often argued until they found a solution that fit all their observations. Then they went to the nearest Internet cafe and checked their decision with the planetary encyclopedia. And sometimes they discovered that the data in the encyclopedia was not accurate. For example, there was no explanation for why pigeons are monogamous. The encyclopedia simply stated this fact. The most interesting lessons in their school were history lessons - the gnomes were given a task: to find logical inconsistencies in history textbooks and understand why this is so. Once a year the gnomes celebrated the Day of Knowledge. Here's how the holiday went: schools changed students on this day and anyone who wanted to change school could stay in another school for the entire next year - until the next holiday. Another holiday of knowledge has arrived. From the second school, gnomes came to the first school - and vice versa. The eminent professors of the first school really did not like this festival of knowledge, since for some reason the gnomes from the second school did not want to accept their explanations on faith. They were constantly whyking. But this holiday of knowledge was hated even more by the gnomes of the first school - finding themselves almost in the forest: they did not know what to do. At the first school they were always explained: what to eat, where to sleep, what to do - but here: complete freedom and complete responsibility. They crammed into a common classroom and sat there until the end of the learning day. But this time it happened that one of the gnomes from the first school fell asleep in the general class and did not return to his first school at the end of the holiday. When he woke up in the second school, she was already living her usual life, which was unusual for the gnome. The students were going about their business: they built houses using technology unknown to the gnome, grew plants, wrote poems and songs, told them to each other, organized conferences and holidays, and invented something. Only the little gnome still didn’t know what to do. One day, one of the gnomes of the second school asked our lost one: “Why are you sad all the time?” The gnome answered: “I don’t know what to do.” I don’t know how to do anything. - Wait, so you study a lot at your first school? - Yes, but with you everything is different. You do everything yourself! - So what? You can do it too! Just watch everything and try to repeat it first. It won’t be clear: ask.
