From the author: Feelings of fear in children are quite common - this is a consequence of a state of increased anxiety. Hello caring parents! I want to dedicate today's article to children's fears. Feelings of fear in children are quite common - this is a consequence of a state of increased anxiety .Children are afraid of the dark, the unknown, afraid of losing their parents, afraid of being unprotected before the physical force of the enemy. I will briefly describe the fears and anxieties that may bother children. These are fears associated with the animal world. Most often, children are afraid of: big dogs; snakes, spiders, centipedes; turkeys, roosters and ganders; wolves, bears, tigers, lions; dinosaurs from films and cartoons. Fears associated with intra-family problems: in the most severe cases, the child may be afraid of family violence (when parents beat the child); in “milder” cases, the child may be especially suppressed (frightened) by one of the family members - strict grandmother or grandfather, older brother or sister, father or mother. Fears associated with peers and friends are based on his inexperience in relationships with peers, on his excessive assertiveness or, conversely, timidity. An anxious child may be afraid to join children playing, even if he watches what they are doing with interest. Anxiety associated with school is not only relevant for schoolchildren. Children of older preschool age (5-6 years old) sometimes experience negative feelings due to fear of school as an immediate prospect. Fear of the night. This is an instinctive fear, on which not only children's, but also adult horror stories are based (ghosts, black people, green eyes, etc.). And also dreams, which are not always cheerful and pleasant. Fear of the dark is the most common fear among children aged two to five years, and sometimes up to eight or nine. This fear is due to the fact that a person receives most of the information through the visual channels, and in the dark something can appear, appear as a ghost, and this leads to anxiety. Fear of hospitals, doctors - this is associated with painful injections, bitter medicines. It happens that parents themselves instill fear of the doctor in their child: “If you don’t listen, I’ll take you to the doctor, he’ll give you an injection. How to help children overcome or reduce the level of fear? Children of different ages react in their own way to this or that situation. Children from two to five years old often simply need protection. It is futile to explain to such children that there is nothing scary in a dark room. It is enough to let the child know that you are next to him, so there is nothing to be afraid of. For preschoolers and primary schoolchildren, imagination and your support will help transform the fear of the mysterious and unknown into interest and anticipation of a surprise. Older children, using the advice of adults when modeling a certain situation, will be able to overcome their fear using their imagination and sense of humor. Dear parents, if you have concerns about your child’s fears and anxieties, or assumptions that the child has fears, it is possible , You are simply interested in this topic, you can comment on this article, or write me a message about what exactly worries or excites you. I will be happy to help you by answering your letters. Sincerely, psychologist Irina Revutskaya.
