Unlike creative block, with creative procrastination you have an idea that you would like to implement, but you don't do it. Or they started implementation, but it is delayed due to your “initiative”. My procrastination prompted me to write this note. During my vacation, I read several books that I would really like to share with you. Several days have passed since I read the last book, and as soon as I sat down to write about them, I felt the desire to close the note and move on to more “important” matters. Previously, I would have done this, but now I was consumed by curiosity: what’s wrong? A few minutes alone with my thoughts and I managed to track what came to mind: - The thoughts in these books are too simple and superficial; - What if they think that We lost time reading these books. - Who needs this? - All this is bullshit... An inner voice made me doubt my idea. If you are interested in the title, then, most likely, something similar is happening to you. Sometimes the inner critic puts an end to global projects and we spend a long time “digging” the creative field in our heads in order to approach it from some edge. In fact, It doesn’t matter whether it’s the beginning of a megaproject or the 57th step towards a goal, turning away from your ideas is painful. And if you practice this too often, you can become very angry with yourself, anxious, etc. What to do? If the idea was initially inspiring, then 1. Track your thoughts about your “reluctance” to implement it.2. Accept that they exist. 3. Do nothing with thoughts. Do not try to change them, drown them out, etc. You don’t even have to analyze where you got them from. Thoughts are normal.4. Show curiosity. When your idea first appeared, you felt a wave of inspiration. Our task is to reproduce it again. Start thinking about how the idea came to you. What exactly inspired you? Down to the smallest detail. Now is the time to get curious. At this moment, there is only your idea and a strong desire to try it. Curious what it will look like in practice? It’s interesting to try your hand, because the idea is great!5. Act. On a wave of inspiration, you need to act as quickly as possible. The 2-minute technique that I described here will help you with this. How do you deal with your creative procrastination??
