Donald Woodsom Winnicott has a phrase: “A mother should not be perfect, but good enough for her child.” A phrase for which I am immensely grateful to him. This phrase reveals to us the secret that a mother does not have to be the best, such a mother is not for a child, but for a dream, fairy tale, fantasy... And for a child it is enough to be a good mother. A mother who did not strive for her dream of being the best possible, who did not get lost in her selfishness. For me this phrase became sobering. This phrase made me think quite a lot at the time. Now I often see how the women around me try to be an ideal mother for their child. They try their best to do everything perfectly, so that they not only forget about themselves, but also forget about their natural needs. So always, when I see such ideal mothers, I ask the question: “Where is the mother for the child? What is mom trying to accomplish through such ideality?”Who is a good mother?.... continuation of the Parent University Training".
