From the author: Simple and effective techniques for working with a child’s palm. From my own experience. Corrective exercises using your own palm are especially useful for children who have experienced traumatic experiences: family quarrels, physical injuries, a hospital, any new experience or events that are difficult for a child to withstand and actively respond to. In such cases, the child may experience sudden emotional swings, various fears, increased anxiety, and aggression. I also offer some exercises to parents as independent homework with their children for the purpose of prevention. Children always do exercises with palms with great pleasure. I will describe interesting and effective, in my opinion, which I often use in my practice. Outlining, coloring, palm prints (returning and strengthening one’s “I”). I use these exercises in working with children aged 3 years and older. - Any games with the palm of your hand are good here: outline and color, using the materials offered to choose from (pencils, paints, felt-tip pens). You can offer to cut out the palm with scissors, having first outlined it on the colored paper chosen by the child. The cut out palm can be turned into a house and played in the sandbox. Invite residents, decorate paths to the house and thus create a whole city or even a world. And the palm house is part of the world. Almost always, after school, children want to take home the palms they have cut out and painted. In addition to other methods, diagnostics can be carried out by the nature of the drawing, additional details drawn by the child at will, the choice of colors and materials for coloring. - Fingerprints on paper, fingerprints in clay (these techniques are good to use in complex work with encopresis), I noticed a special childish delight in the process of burying and digging out the palm in the sandbox. Decorating the handprint with various materials (beads, ribbons, natural materials). As well as various finger games, joint with the parent, where the entire surface and backs of the palms can participate. The palm is like a mandala, returning and strengthening the “I”. She is the personification of the child’s entire body and self.2. Exercise “My good qualities” (improves contact with oneself, increases self-esteem, activates internal resources). I use this exercise in working with children aged 4.5-5 years. I invite the child to trace his palm with a pencil. If the child already knows how to write, I say that he needs to write his name in the center of his palm. If you find it difficult yourself, I help. Then I say: “Now write your good quality into each finger.” What are you good at? There are children who find it difficult to answer such a question. Then I’ll help. Example from practice: - Do you love animals? - Yes. - What kind of people love animals? What kind of people care about them? What can you say about such people? What are they like? - They are kind. - And you love animals, and you also like to take care of them. So what are you like? The child’s face brightens and a smile appears: - I am kind! - Wonderful! On which finger will you write this quality? - On the big one! Thus, we filled out each finger. I would like to note that with each new good quality, the child found new positive qualities in himself with greater ease and pleasure. As homework, I suggest that the parent hang our result in a prominent place at home, try to say out loud the child’s good qualities every day. And also outline another palm and fill it with new qualities. Diagnostic exercise “Dactylogram”. (1) This exercise is recommended for children of primary school age and older. (Determining the child’s role and place in interpersonal relationships, studying the most significant people in his life, identifying the nature of relationships in the family) I suggest circling your palm and attaching it to a piece of paper. Then write your name on one of the fingers, and then the names of significant people on the other fingers. If one hand is not enough, circle.
