A lot has been written and said about depression. I would like to add some of my observations on this issue. It seems to me that you can choose depression. Yes exactly. A person is able to identify himself in a depressed state for various reasons. And one of them may be that in a state of depression a person gets the opportunity, allows him to think about himself in a pessimistic way. For some reason a person needs this. Maybe this kind of thinking is the only defense against other deeper, hidden problems. This is the safest option to satisfy your needs, at least in such a way as to plunge into depression. This may sound strange. However, it is quite difficult to pull a person out of depression, because certain thoughts block the way out and tenaciously hold the person’s consciousness captive of personality-suppressive thinking. This option of self-immersion can come from childhood as the most acceptable, familiar and accessible way for a child, teenager, and now for an adult to contact the world at the level that is necessary at a certain moment. What kind of pleasure or pleasure can a person get from depression? Saving resources. A depressed person already has few of them, but his need for reflection, constant replaying of the same thoughts requires loneliness, solitude. After all, it takes a lot of strength to share with someone, to create events in your life, to at least begin to look for the cause of your depression. Sometimes it is more profitable to simply receive resources from a leisurely lifestyle, from tranquility. But, if the strength goes away, then they have somewhere to go, and they go, perhaps, to maintain life... someone else’s, that is, a life that is not your own. A person does not live his life for himself, having principles that are not his own, not knowing boundaries, not being able to separate his own and other people’s thoughts and still being afraid, worrying and thinking a lot about the fact that something is wrong with the person. These thoughts, as a rule, come from childhood and are closely related to the image of the mother. Longing for the first significant object in one’s life due to the person’s incomplete separation, his strong attachment to his mother and, as a result, the inability and unwillingness to be an adult, to solve problems like an adult. Depression is just a cold. With depression, a person really feels bad, but it may not seem so to outsiders. They don’t really notice “where it hurts” and they may even be annoyed by a disease that is not visible and yet exists. Not everyone will be able to provide support or recognize the presence of depression as a serious problem in their acquaintance, friend or relative. And when a depressed person does not receive at least an understanding of his condition from those around him, he begins to dive even deeper into himself and move away from the outside world. When everything is bad, this is a way to complain about everything at once. A person no longer understands the root cause of his depression, but begins to judge his life in a negative way as a whole. Meet your little self. Let's remember a common posture during depression - it is usually bent knees, hands hiding the face, tears. Closed pose, child's pose. In this way, a person tries to get in touch with himself as a child, but there is no strength to calm this baby, there are no resources to support him, fill him with life and even feel sorry for him. There is only strength to grieve over a strong loss. This is not necessarily someone else’s life, it may well be your own... Working with depression is complex and lengthy, but it is worth it to bring a person back into his life, to introduce him to his thoughts and tell you where to look and how to create your own principles, choose your priorities in life!
