The work of a psychologist: Interesting and Useful 825 Good afternoon, Dear Friends! And you and I continue to study the work of a psychologist and its various features, we continue to share our experience and knowledge accumulated during practice. I bring to your attention the eight hundred and twenty-fifth article in the series. A little more about facades, a topic we raised with you in yesterday’s article. If our client has a protective facade, then we can say that for such people, for such our clients, habit is important. It’s good when we have established good stable contact with such a client, he gets used to us (I’m talking specifically about this type of client here, of course, this is good with everyone, but especially here). After all, behind the facade there is some kind of fear, apprehension (if it frightens with a facade, we are now talking more about this type of facade). Habit for a person with a facade is important so that someone does not scare him away, so to speak. In this case, the positive transference continues to affect us. He himself can happily support it. And then, as always, there will be some kind of tension and it will be important to get through it, and when we get through it, the contact and work will deepen. Well, this happens with all clients if we work with them for a long time. This is normal, as I wrote, this is the law of the therapeutic genre. If we are afraid of the client’s façade, then here our job is to find out what the client is afraid of, what he is afraid of. Our feelings in countertransference tell us about something in the client, about some of his processes. About such a personality facade (and similar facades) we can say that this is such an armor of the personality that protects this personality from something. The advantage here is that a person can build his boundaries very well. But it’s difficult to be yourself with a façade. Therapy then can just be a place where a person can be himself, practice being himself. Can everyone open up? Of course not. It may well be that this client will take something useful from us for himself, while remaining in his armor. For example, support during a difficult period, in a difficult situation. And that will be enough for him. Not everyone can, not everyone wants to undergo such complete therapy, with deep immersion into oneself. However, this requires certain qualities and desires. For example, the armor itself may not allow you to get closer, so that while getting closer you can try to gradually remove this armor from yourself. Do you also want to share something? Please write below in the comments! It will be important and interesting for everyone to learn something useful for their work or just for themselves! Thank you for your attention! The next, eight hundred and twenty-sixth article in the series will be published soon, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow!
