We all enjoy hearing kind words, including compliments. However, compliments are a rather complex and controversial topic, since many people either do not know how to give them, or do so in such a way that it would be better if they remained silent. Some compliments can hurt, after which a person will no longer want to communicate with you, while a successful compliment can win over almost any person. This article will be useful for both men and women, since we can give compliments to our family and friends, colleagues at work, bosses, teachers and just strangers. You need to be very careful with compliments that relate to appearance, since a compliment on appearance is always an assessment, and the fact is that it is fundamentally impolite to evaluate someone’s appearance. However, for people with low self-esteem who don't like something about themselves, compliments can be very helpful in accepting themselves. It is better not to use compliments that reflect a genetic trait where there is no merit to the person. For example, “You have beautiful eyes.” They do not emphasize a person’s individual characteristics. Compliments that concern appearance are best done in combination with praise. For example: “You have a good figure, it’s clear that you play sports. You’re great, don’t be lazy!” or “Your hair is so beautiful and thick, it looks like you take great care of it.” COMPLIMENTS ON CLOTHING. In this case, it is also important to note the person’s merit, it always exists. But, in this case, avoid compliments that include some kind of improvement, for example: “Your dress is beautiful, but it would be better if it were longer.” Just tell the girl that she has a beautiful dress and add praise: “Your dress is beautiful, it suits you very well. Great sense of style!” MISTAKES IN COMPLIMENTS. 1. Avoid complimenting a girl in front of another girl. You will put the first one in an awkward position, and the second one you will offend. 2. Don't give compliments by comparing a girl to someone else, especially your mom. God forbid you tell your girlfriend that your mother is a better cook. 3. Praise something, mentioning something that used to be bad, but has now finally improved: “Oh, you’ve gained weight / lost weight, you feel so good!”, “Loose hair suits you, it covers your chubby cheeks!” - Avoid such toxic compliments. If you stop focusing on the physical parameters of the body, you can see that a person has many characteristics and personal qualities that he can be proud of and this can be a reason for praise. Compliments that reflect a person’s personal qualities and different character traits: You are very kind and sympathetic, it’s great to have such a friend! You are very wise and reasonable, you will always think about everything before making a decision. I really like talking to you, you are a great conversationalist! You did a great job! (Drew a picture or something else with your own hands) You just have talent! And you can simply express your gratitude to a person for being in your life and for being significant to you: I’m so glad that you are in mine life. You are important to me.Your optimism gives me confidence. You inspire me.People like you make me believe in humanity again. It would be great if there were more people like you in the world. I feel very comfortable being in your company. Write your version, maybe it will be useful to someone!
