Not only is narcissism itself not always a pleasant phenomenon, there is also such a term as perverted narcissist - this is the most toxic form of narcissism. Ordinary narcissists can live quietly and not bother anyone, only occasionally confusing those around them with excessive conceit. Perverted narcissists need an audience and, as a rule, a dependent victim. So, if you see these signs in a person from your environment (or even more so in a partner), then it’s time to “step up”: Gaslighting is the favorite form of psychological violence of these people. In this case, the person deliberately distorts the facts, citing the fact that you remembered or interpreted something incorrectly. This kind of manipulation creates in the victim the feeling that something is wrong with her. Passive aggression is a classic technique of perverted narcissists; they rarely express aggression directly, since the image of the “person” cannot be harmed. Most often, perverted narcissists “open up” as much as possible in close relationships, an ideal image is created for the rest of the environment. When the victim leaves such a relationship, people often simply cannot believe that this perfect “angel” could behave this way. Such people persistently demand rapprochement as soon as possible, and at first they can behave in a sugary and ideal way. Toxic narcissists are crazy controllers and manipulators, and also strive to gain a dominant position everywhere. Of course, only those around them are to blame for everything, because a perfect person cannot make mistakes or behave incorrectly. They constantly shirk direct and honest dialogue. In order to avoid a direct showdown, they turn everything into a joke or resort to another kind of manipulation (for example, from the first point). Perverted narcissists are very envious, vindictive and vindictive. They cannot stand it if someone encroaches on their ideal image or reveals their true face to everyone. Despite all their negative qualities, people of this type categorically do not recognize them; they also love to lecture everyone and moralize (although in reality they can absolutely neglect all the rules decency, but they can do it). By the way, they are not averse to living at the expense of someone else’s resources: no matter financial or psychological. They are prone to depressive episodes, outbursts of anger and toxic behavior, but more often they disguise this without entering into open confrontations.
