Almost all crisis psychologists know and use this “secret” technique of psychotherapy. Its secrecy, of course, is conditional and is due to the fact that the processing of trauma can occur without the client telling about the event at all. The principle of action is the sequential stimulation of the left and right hemispheres of the human brain through eye movements, tactile sensations and/or sounds that the client alternately receives from the left and right sides. This technique is called #EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (#EMDR). This method of psychotherapy was originally developed to relieve distress associated with traumatic memories. If to explain in your own words, and not standard definitions, then this method helps to “erase” from your memory looped, acutely traumatic memories for the psyche, which regularly cause negative manifestations “in the head” and/or body. After processing an old psychological problem, its traumatic nature for a person very quickly decreases , and after a short time the thought stirrer stops and the event is forgotten. It is believed that this technique has nothing to do with hypnosis. But all hypnologists who use it in client therapy notice that clients are immersed in a trance state with their eyes open. Therefore, during the session, they use the correction of erroneous attitudes and beliefs “on the fly”, using “hypnosis without hypnosis.” Supplementing the technique with resource trances or various types of non-directive hypnosis can speed up the processing of the client’s trauma several times. Requests that the EMDR technique effectively copes with ( EMDR): Experience of single, life-threatening, traumatic events (road accidents, accidents, natural disasters, war, violence, emergencies, death of a person, severe grief) PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and ordinary severe stress due to upcoming or past events. Consequences of psychological trauma – fears, phobias, resentments. Childhood psychological trauma (bullying, bullying, bullying). Problems with self-esteem and negative self-image. Anxiety associated with a certain type of activity (for example, public speaking, professional sports, driving, etc.). Psychosomatic health problems. Problems in relationships with parents, children, partners, colleagues. Infidelity, separation from a partner, divorce. This, of course, is not a complete list of requests, since the technique is so effective and universal that it can be used for almost all requests, with the exception of those that require the help of a psychiatrist and taking medications.
