There are probably virtually no people who have never read “The Diary of Anne Frank.” Anne Frank is a girl from a Jewish family, born in Germany, but after Hitler came to power, she moved to the Netherlands. During the occupation of the Netherlands by the Nazis, she and her parents hid in a secret shelter, where she wrote her diary. In it, she described life in isolation, her feelings, thoughts, fears, and reflected on the war. In my opinion, this is a poignant work, written literally with life. One of her quotes: “As long as I can see this,” I thought, “cloudless sky and sunlight, I don’t dare to be sad.” This phrase seems to be quite simple; one might say, there is nothing special or bright in it. But as soon as you remember who wrote it, it plays with completely different colors. This phrase was written by a teenage girl who lived in a hungry world that was hostile to her. She literally did not see the sun, constantly hid, lived in fear, but at the same time she had such bright thoughts. Her diary shows us the true strength of spirit of a girl who lived so little in the world. Another phrase from her diary: “I am not rich in money or earthly riches, I am not beautiful, I am not smart, I know little, but I am happy and will be happy! I have a happy character, I love people, I have no mistrust towards them, and I want them all to be happy with me.” Anna just wanted to live, she enjoyed every moment and did not hate anyone. Anna kept her diary in order to publish it after the war and become a writer: “The brightest spot of all is that at least I can write down my thoughts and feelings, otherwise I would be absolutely depressed.” Her dream came true, her diary was published, and the name of Anne Frank became known to the whole world as a girl who, even in the face of the horrors of war, did not lose her fortitude and love of life. What do you think about this unique work from a psychological point of view? How did a girl living in such conditions retain optimism, a sense of happiness, where she drew strength for life??
