I worked with a boy who does not study well. He is 11 years old. They began to find out, to understand. First we used a bonus system. The boy himself was asked what he would like as a bonus. And he replied that he wanted to go bowling with his mother for “5”. The very next week I started getting straight A's. But!!! Mom didn’t have time to fulfill her promise. When I asked how is this possible? she replied that he should let him want his own grades. It was proven that mom didn’t really need it. We worked with self-esteem (“I’m a C student, I won’t succeed anyway”), with fear of mistakes (the child believed that it was better not to do anything than to do something wrong). After some time, we noticed that the boy was forgetting his assignments at home! And how he started making them: he was forbidden to play with gadgets until he made them. And they didn’t give the phone to school, and even before bedtime they took it away and locked it. It turns out that forgetting homework done at home and getting bad marks for them was beneficial for the child for some reason. For example, he received, albeit negative, but guaranteed attention from mom and dad. No bad grades - no attention. Conclusions and recommendations are in the article “Unachievement in a child.” http://ekaterina-pushkareva.com
