It even sounds a little scary, but I suggest you figure out what is meant by this concept and at what age it occurs. In fact, a midlife crisis does not even have clear age boundaries; most sources will indicate a range from 30 to 60 years, although it happens that it also occurs at an earlier age, from the age of 25. By the way, not everyone faces this crisis; some people live their lives well without it. Mainly, a midlife crisis is characterized by the fact that a person understands that the conventional half of life has passed and the question arises: “what next?” There is an understanding that some young dreams are never destined to come true, that the aging process is irreversible and that life is not endless. A person begins to comprehend: what he has achieved over the years, what he has come to. What is also important here is how much this all clashes with his personal criteria of success and well-being. Although those who are in crisis often experience a complete devaluation of their achievements and their path. At this moment, it seems to many people that everything achieved is generally worthless, unimportant and unnecessary. Quite often, the trigger of a crisis is tangible changes in life: divorce, dismissal, children leaving for adulthood. Let's look at the main signs of a midlife crisis: fear that the main, most interesting part of life has passed, that all the best is behind; fear of the future, the understanding of where to go and why is gone; a feeling of hopelessness, necessity; pessimism, despondency, anxiety; loss of meaning; fear for health, for life; everything that was important/needed/valuable loses significance; fear of death; the feeling that he did not make the contribution that he should have, did not fulfill his purpose; Previously, psychology made a distinction between the passage of this crisis in men and women, but now gender specificity has almost been erased. Fear of aging and reaction to it: A person becomes very concerned about his appearance (previously this point was allocated to women, but now many men resort to the services of plastic surgeons). A race begins for vanishing youth and sexual attractiveness, sometimes reaching the point of absurdity. Appearance no longer corresponds to age and social status. Sometimes a person acquires something that he missed so much in his youth (for example, a red sports car). He begins to master quite extreme sports activities. Young mistresses and lovers appear (previously, this point was attributed only to men, but times have changed). The main thing here will be an ardent desire to do everything in time, to prolong youth. Which on the whole is probably not a bad thing. Only in a crisis can this be done out of the blue, thoughtlessly. Also frequent companions of a midlife crisis are apathy, withdrawal, soul-searching and self-criticism. A person closes off from loved ones, friends, and generally begins to avoid society. But now I want to return to the concept of crisis (turning point, revolution), this is when old strategies no longer suit you, a desire appears to live differently, in a different way, but a person does not yet realize how exactly and what he wants to the end. And a crisis is not bad, because thanks to it growth and development occur. And here, in general, there will be two options for the outcome of its passage. First, the most favorable one. Gradually, a person finds new meanings, realizes what he really wants and begins to manifest himself in it. Let’s take the same dismissal, someone after it will go into apathy and alcohol, and someone will go to study or finally open their own business and realize their dream. That is, in this case, having gone through a midlife crisis, a person opens up to what really lights him up and makes him happy and goes into it. At the same time, acquiring new meanings and goals. Unfavorable option. A person still cannot understand himself, he begins to look for a way out in a glass, drugs and other addictions. Which only worsens apathy and depression. As a result, all areas of life collapse. Also, when going through a crisis, it is very important not to give in to momentary desires, but still
