There is a wonderful book “101 Stories of Zen”. This is a collection of stories that outlines the experience and knowledge of Chinese and Japanese Zen teachers. To illustrate, I want to give one story that talks about mindfulness: “Zen students study with Zen masters for at least 10 years before they are allowed to teach others. Tenno, who, having completed his apprenticeship, became a teacher, came to visit Nan-in. It was a rainy day, and Tenno put on his wooden shoes and took an umbrella. After the greeting, Nan-in remarked: “I think you left your shoes in the hallway. I would like to know whether your umbrella is to the right or left of your shoes?” Tenno, embarrassed, could not. give a decent answer. He realized that he could not realize Zen in himself every minute. He became a student of Nan-in and studied for another 6 years to perfect his moment-to-moment Zen.” Coaching puts awareness at the forefront. This value makes it similar to Zen. One of the main formulas of coaching is the statement that performance is determined by the potential hidden in us minus interference. Moreover, the intervention lies more in ourselves! This is our internal interference when we hinder ourselves through uncertainty, overzealousness, fear, anger, malice, the desire to show off, boredom, busy mind. Do you see what huge weights are tied to our arms and legs, preventing us from running fast and achieving our goals? What recipe does coaching offer to get rid of interference? If I were thinking from the position of a psychologist, then my recommendation would be to work with each obstacle separately. If you feel fear, then let's work with fear! If you want to make an impression, well, let's explore that part of the personality that wants this. But coaching is paradoxical, like Zen. And this is its amazing property. The goal of coaching as a technology is to lead you to your intended goal. Working with goals is a separate section in coaching, we will talk about this in our next issues. Coaching offers to enter another dimension, to rise above the plane in which we are dominated by fear, uncertainty, the desire to impress, boredom, fatigue. Through awareness. If you have practiced meditation, you know that at a certain moment mental and energetic tensions go away. Until some point, they served as an obstacle to internal energy. Then the tensions go away, and the river of energy begins to flow widely and calmly, filling you with freshness. And at this moment your awareness grows many times over. There are different ways to maintain a state of awareness. The classic version is when you learn to maintain your focus on a certain subject, learn concentration. Just like in a game of tennis, if you are completely focused on the game, if you are passionate about this game, then there will be no room in your consciousness for fear, uncertainty and other obstacles. At higher levels of mindfulness practice, your focus of attention becomes more expanded, it begins to contain more. But mindfulness is still key in your activities. Make coaching your practice. Make it your inner game. On the path to transforming yourself and unlocking your own potential. I invite you to a free Intensive “Creativity - Get Started!”, where we will sort out the obstacles that prevent you from expressing your creativity to its full potential!
